hey! what you posted was below the belt.. I am a Filipina. Yes it does happen but just because it does doesn't mean we are losing our respect. I am not one of those young Filipina with the "old, white-#### guys" since my fiance is a Filipino with an American citizen and we just have 2years gap. But i am writing in response to your comment.

There is really a saying that "In love, age does not matter." Given the circumstance, would you choose someone near your age but acts so immaturely or someone who could be your "grandfather' but treats you as his world? think think think.... Which is more important, the age or his treatment??

Also, don't blame the Filipinas entirely!! You're fussing up on the Filipinas! How could it be entirely the lady's fault?? Blame also the "old, white-#### guys" who goes after the young Filipina generation.. Filipino culture goes this way -- guys court the girls.. So, these "old guys" go after the filipinas, make them feel so special, etc. Now, could you blame the ladies if they fall for it?!

I don't mean bad when I say this so don't all jump on me.....but why do most filipinas always ask questions like this? It makes them sound like they just were searching for an American victim to pounce on!! When you talk about "looking for a certain race" in makes you sound like gold diggers!! So many filipina post like this and it makes them all sound the same!!! Hard to respect this style. Thats maybe why there are SO many filipina girls married to their "grandpa". You know the ones you see here that are so young and pretty looking with some old fat white guy? WTH! Funny, I live in manilla for over 5 years and almost never saw filipina girls with older filipino guys....but let a fat white guy walk down the street and he was like fresh meat in the jail......I guess he just looked like a big DOLLAR sign!! I did not say "I am not mean" I simply said, "I don't mean bad". Meaning.....I am not meaning what I am saying to be seen as something bad and I only have good intentions......but. It is a long time issue and as I have read post after post of SOME.....not all.......filipinas say things that seem like they only want to come to the US or find a way around the legal immigration system, its started to get to me a little.....Thats all. I felt, I posted, and everyone got very defensive. If its a long time problem and everyone knows it....then why all the hostility? I tried to soften what I said as much as I could, but how much could I soften it given the subject I was talking about? No need for those who got defensive to be defensive if they are not doing any wrong. I just simply spoke my mind about something bothering me in a forum that I was hoping could understand.

In all seriousness, it is all about survival. Survival is our number one motivator in life. After 5 years in the RP, I'm surprised you don't realize that surviving there is no easy task. It truly is a place where if born poor, you really have very little chances of a good life, you'll be dedicating your entire life to survival. I can understand doing pretty much anything to survive.... I saw a documentary on fathers that turn their own boys (yes boys) into child hookers in some poor European countries just for survival.... see what people do for survive?

What's wrong with a post to talk about the "bad ones" that are making it hard to keep a good image for pinoy people and make it harder for the rest of us? Maybe its kinda of negative, but why do so many refuse to acknowlege that it exist? Talk about a lynch mob! I don't wish anything bad to any of my fellow filipinas. It makes them sound like they just were searching for an American victim to pounce on!! When you talk about "looking for a certain race" in makes you sound like gold diggers!! So many filipina post like this and it makes them all sound the same!!! Hard to respect this style. Thats maybe why there are SO many filipina girls married to their "grandpa". You know the ones you see here that are so young and pretty looking with some old fat white guy? WTH! Funny, I live in manilla for over 5 years and almost never saw filipina girls with older filipino guys....but let a fat white guy walk down the street and he was like fresh meat in the jail......I guess he just looked like a big DOLLAR sign!! Well,I am a Pure-blooded Filipina....reading your post hurts me BUT then again, I respect you..you have every right to say what you feel.."Freedom of Speech" as they say. Been in Pinas all my life, so yes, i saw a lot of pinays who are married to as what you call their "grandpa" and its not really good to see (physically together)

I was with my husband who's a USC (half pinoy/half american) and here's his initial reaction when we saw couples where the guy is really old for the girl (go at the back of Mall of Asia, they call it break waters, there are a lot of couples there...FYI): "eeewwww.....can she take making lovey dovey to him? or maybe she just needs his money coz he will die soon?" I didnt get mad when he said that...that is his reaction and that's how he sees it.

Here's the deal sweetie....I know it will be hard for us to clean up our image with you Americans and I dont know if we ever will....but I guess whatever their motives are we dont have any business to it...whether for money or Love...we really dont care.

Finally someone else see's this!! Well everyone always "see's" this, but too busy trying to be nice and just don't want to say it!! Sorry, sad, but true. Not all are like this......but seems to be very common. There are some good ones, like my fiancee, but many are giving them all a very bad name!

Actually, I am pinoy. I don't mean bad though. I just hate to see my filipina sisters looked at this way and it's only because of their many many fake and fraudluant actions! I just wish many would show more self respect and be proud to be pinoy and not sell themselves short. If you find real love in a white guy, great....find it, but don't go looking for it just to get out of a bad economic situation for you and your family. Love should be natual, not searched for from a certain race just to have further financial and economic gains later. Should be no scheaming involved or fake plans to be had. Just natural. I read so many trying to find some "angle" to get past the system. Thats exactly why others with real love have to wait and endure so long. Not just from the Philippines, but other countries as well, but my focus is on the ones from Philippines.

now i understand why this thread was started. you as a pinoy feel your ego was "touch" because many filipinas are marrying foreigners who value them as a woman not just a play thing. my fiance is not old and he is the most wonderful guy i known.

This is so far one of the most inane comments that I have read in my short time here at VJ. Why would you imply that the posing of my query is tantamount to “searching for an American victim to pounce on”? Did I ever say that we Filipinas look for Americans as gold mines? And what’s wrong if fate guides us to connect with an American or any foreigner for that matter? And I admire those Filipina women who are sincerely in love and dedicated to their husbands and fiancés in America.

For your information, my fiancé is not even an American albeit he lives in Arizona. He is a full- blooded Ilocano, like yours truly, and not necessarily somebody who was born with silver spoons in his mouth. But he has studied and worked hard and has been gainfully employed as a white collar professional the last 8 years since he has been in the USA. Both of us are in our mid 30’s and have known each other for more than 15 years.

So, tell, me where’s the loss of self respect here? Otherwise, just shut up, clown!
