  1. Hi all,

I need some feedback from you guys. I read somewhere in the forum that it will take around 2-3 weeks to get the Vietnam Police Certificate (Ly Lich Tu Phap) so I arranged to get it by the time I plan to sit for my interview.

But today, when I went in to apply for it, I was informed that it will take 40 days (twice the time that I thought it will take). This will delay my interview and completely throw off my plan...

Can anybody with related experience confirm this? I plan to call them every week starting the second week (which I don't think will expedite the process).

I'm just bummed that I was misinformed :(

Secondly, will it be in Vietnamese or English? The person there asked for extra charge for it to be in English, I'm worried if it won't be cos any mistakes in 40 days will delay me further....

Btw, I'm not Vietnamese so I didn't get to ask a lot of questions to them.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi guys,

I just have a quick question and would really appreciate your feedback....

In the form DS-3032, Part II, question 43a, I already have a Social Security Number when I was a student in the US about 5 years ago. I misplaced the card but still remember the number... Do I need to tick YES for a replacement card because i misplaced mine? Does that mean I'll get a new SSN?

    Thanks!!!

  3. blue123, I checked out the webpage you gave me (thank you very much) but couldn't find a clause that says a stay of less than 12 months doesn't require a police certificate. If this is true, it would make my life so much easier. 2- 3 months processing time :(

redglasses, hi :) I lived in ishikawa prefecture and worked in fukui for 11 months. I had a lot of fun!!

  4. Hi all,

Good news. We got approved for K3 & I-130 on April 20th (yay!) and I just received a package from the US embassy in Malaysia asking me to send in a bunch of stuff. One of the things they require is the police certificates. Since I turned 16, I have lived in the US (4 years - attended a university), and Japan (11 months - worked) and now I'm working in Vietnam (currently on the 6th month in Vietnam).

Please do drop by a line or two on how I should deal with the US, Japan & Vietnam government to get the police certificates.

Thanking all of you in advance!!!

  5. Hi guys,

Just a quick question. How do you apply to expedite the reviewing process? I see on a lot of timelines that include sending request to expedite (and so on). What would qualify me to expedite and how do I do it?

From the processing time, we should have heard something from them for the I130 (April 4) and the I129f will be on April 27... Can I bug them on the I-129f already?

    Thanks!!

  6. 1 - NOA2 is basically what you want the most, it's the final answer saying your process has been approved, you receive one NOA2 for each one of the forms, read more here:

See my timeline below to see how long it took from my NOA1 to my NOA2.

3 - You have to go search in the forum for it, probably there are people who are in the same situation but you will have to go look for it. Also, you should check the Timelines link, and look for your kind of visa, there are tons of people there. Also check out my timeline, cause also have a K3 process going on.

:) Hope it helps, good luck.

Thanks gixbr! I'll check out the links and search more from the forum.

  7. Hi guys,

I'm really new to VisaJourney and could really use a lot of help.

I have a few questions for a start:

    1) What does NOA2 means? I received 2 NOAs (1 for I130 and 1 for K3)... How long usually does it take to receive the NOA2? What does it mean when you received NOA2?

    2) I've been reading through the forum about 'touched'. What does it mean? And ho do you guys know your application has been 'touched'

    3) My husband and I filed our petition in October 08, is there anybody else who filed during the same time? Any updates on your application?

I appreciate any feedback and even recommendations.

    Thanks!
