Following intervie preparation document for Mumbai embassy has note (on last page) that says that you will need interview letter to get Passport office PCC. So you can submit your IV package without submitting PCC from Passport office.

In my mind simple calculation is-- she comes to US on k-3 -- One way ticket --$800

She goes back to India, gives CR-1 interview, comes back again-- Round trip -- $1400 or so

That $1400 alone is more than AOS fee rigt? Plus other expenditures in India

Wow, that's cool. Which route did you get for $600? I was looking from Chicago to Calcutta and it was around $1500.

This is the original intention of the K-3 OPTION, this is why the K-3 is multientry.

The K-3 is an option that allows spouse to enter the USA and WAIT for I-130 approval, and then then can proceed with counselor process of CR-1/IR-1 immigrant visa OR adjust status. K-3 is NOT required to adjust status, they can persue their immigrant visa which can save a bit of $$$.

I know that this is what the VJ guide says but I was looking on NVC and USCIS website that explains this in normal person readable words. But didn't see anything. It says that person may file for AOS but doesn't says that they can go back and finish processing. Just want to know if someone out there has done this recently. My wife just got K3 visa (Mumbai, India) and she will be coming to US based on that. She has her CR1 visa scheduled for Jul. I want to know if it is possible for her to go through CR1 interview if she has already entered US on K3 visa. I know K3 guide on VJ says that you can but I want to know if anyone has tried it recently.

if ur case complete that week , GOD willing u may get an Interview for July , if not then u wait the next assign times ..so either ways i believe ur K3 is to come first ..so investigate this with ur embassy if they can put the K3 on hold till u do the CR-1

Haven't been 15 business days yet so can't do much. Anyway my wife is going to go for her K3 interview and visit me on that. Once she gets her CR1 interview she will go back for it. This is going to cost me $600 for her return tickets but she will get to spend time with me.

As far as I know you have option to either do AOS or go back to you country and do CR1 interview.

I am having difficulty getting the information to fit in the forms when printed. When I look at the dates there is a "+" sign that blocks the date. The same happens on other fields too. I called the USCIS help line and was told that I could not convert the pdf files to word. Even though the forms look identical I was told they would be rejected. The USCIS help line said print them out and fill them in by hand.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get the data to fit when it is printed out? I don't want to have to hand write 8 pages (4 pgs for each).

User a free sofware called Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/). This allows you to do more than Adobe reader. You may also need this in future when you have to file DS-230 since in reguar reader the data of this form is not saved. With Foxit you will able to save data entered in DS-230 form.

NVC has finished reviewing our DS230, so we're just waiting for our I-184 to be completed..Hope that is soon. You may ask them if they are done with DS230 or I-184... so, you would know where you are. Good luck to us!

Both AOS and IV packages have been reviewed and all is good. My case was suppose to be completed on May 21 but NVC system had some issue and it was not showing AOS fees processed. So I called next day and NVC fixed my fee status and sent application for final review by supervisor. Nothing has changed on my case since then.

When I call NVC to see why it's taking this long, they say all is good with my document and case will be completed after supervisor reviews it.

Called again today since its the 10th bus day since my application went to "final review" and now they are saying got to wait another week since its 10 to 15 days process. I don't under stand why they say 10 to 15 days when you actualy have to wait 15 days before you can do anything.

I don't know,, it's very slim.. Seeing people getting an interview for the last week of July already like 29th-30th...And they got approved a couple of days ago....So will see,,, i guess i'm just missing my wife so much but thanks for the prayers and not to lose hope,,,

I also got a false RFE for AOS fees, my application has been on final review since May 22nd and haven't got anything yet. NVC is been telling that all my documents are good and my application is under final review and I have to wait 10 to 15 bus days. Its going to 10th bus day tomorrow.

for my clarification, Today my wife got local disctric police clearance certificate from DSP office which needs to be signed by colector. what collectro saying is this. collector would sign the PCC and and will sealed the PCC in the envalope then u take to Gnathinagar to sign. My question first question is do we need collectro sign on PCC? second question, Do we have really need to go gandhinagar to get sign on PCC? (i read some where in VJ that we dont need to sing local PCC by gandhinagar authority if we have interview latter). is it ok to submitt copy of the local disctric police clearace certificate without collector have signed on it?

please advice, this is really confusing to me.

Yes you can submit DSP office PCC without colector's signature. Once you have interivew letter you can directly go to passport office to get you PCC from them. You will need original DSP office PCC to get PCC from passport office so keep it with you and submit copy of it to NVC.

It will not.

But if you already have K3 and so you also have CR1 application pending and in that case your chances of getting visitor visa are very very slim.

DesiDon - Since your wife has just received her passport, she should be able to receive the passport PCC without having to get the district PCCs as the district PCCs were just done to get her passport. I suggest she go to the Ahmedabad passport office since her passport was just issued and try to apply for the Passport PCC. If that fails, she will have to go through the district PCC process even though its not required by NVC.

You should also search in the Asia South forum as there are a lot of posts about the Passport PCC from the Ahmedabad Passport Office.

Here are the steps (based on my and other VJ member's experience) if you have to get PCC from Ahmedabad Passport Office

1) Females are required to change their maiden name and add their husbands name in Passport. You can request this in TATKAL and get this done in 7 to 10 business days.

2) You need RFE requesting PCC from Passport office or Interview letter to get PCC from Ahmedabad passport office. So don't waste your time trying to get one before interview.

3) You will have to show PCC from DSP's office at the Ahmedabad passport office PCC. So get PCC from DSP's office and send a copy of it with your IV package. Keep original with you since you will need it to show it at Passport office.

4) State in your cover letter that Copy of Local PCC is included and original will be shown during interview. Also state that PCC from Passport office will be shown during the interview.

I have paid my IV Bill online and my wife went to get the PCC from passport office. She had to go through the local District office to get the paper before she can get the PCC from passport office.

Passport office is now asking for a checklist document from NVC that states the requirement of the PCC........

How do I get this checklist....... should I call NVC operator or just wait for the checklist???

When they say checklist it's not same as the one that you get in paket 3. They are actually asking for RFE. PCC from Passport office is not required to be subemitted to NVC, they know that Ahmedabad people ask for inverveiw letter to issue passport office PCC. You can submit your IV package with PCC from DSP's office and say in your cover letter that PCC from Passport office will be shown during intverview.

We are having difficulties achieving PCC from the passport office because the beneficiary did not renew her passport to the new married name. They only issue the PCC after the new PP has been created under her married name. The problem is in I130, and g325a were submitted under her maiden name and no mention of her married name. Once she change the name in her PP do we need to start using the new married name in the upcoming forms, like DS230? Are we supposed to notify NVC? Or should we just create a new PP and keep both passports during interview and not inform NVC ahead of time. Will it cause delay/problems in changing her maiden name to her married name as a primary name? We have marriage certificates and all required documents to prove the marriage. Any guidance is appreciated.

Your wife's changed name will show in PCC. You should fill DS230 with the new name and put here old name as maiden name in DS230. Iclude copy of both new and old passport in your IV package. State in you cover letter that name has changed in new passport.

Yes. You will have to show them the original and submit a photocopy.

Today my wife filled out application for district level police clearance certificate. She asked officer that if he can he sign two color copies of PCC because we need to submit original certificate to NVC. We need to submit one copy to ahmedabad passport office and one for interview. Officer replied saying that we can’t sign the copy. However You can go to any government office and they can make true copy. My question is that what is true copy? Is it considered as certified copy? Please help. By the way she lives in saurashtra.

My wife has fresh passport, I don’t need to submit this local district PCC but since I am not sending passport office PCC, I am thinking that NVC will send RFE. That’s the whole purpose of sending local district PCC. Is anybody is here who has fresh passport and did not submited local PCC and passport office PCC and had not problem in the process? any solution of this situation?

I submitted color copy of PCC from DSP's office. Include in your cover letter that original will be shwon during Interview. You should be fine.

NVC requires english version of PCC. does anyone have English version of application form for local disctrict police clearance certificate?

Where in Gujarat your wife is getting here DSP PCC from?

I received a letter today from the NVC which states:

"The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

It gives me the MNLXXXXX case number.

I have NOT received an NOA2 letter from VSC.

Do I need it for the interview?

Medical?

Is THIS letter enough to get us through at this time?

Call VSC to see why you have not received NOA2. Could be that they never sent it in that case they will send it to you. If their system shows that they have already sent it you wont be able to send them again unless you pay $400. I would not worry about not getting NOA2 since you have NVC letter. I am don't if it is must to include NOA2 for AOS.

Anyone has lately experienced with new procedure, how long it takes NVC to prepare and send your packet to Mumbai consulate once they have your approved K3 from USCIS ? My K3 petition got approved on April 3 by USCIS-CA and they said they are sending our case to NVC for interview processing stuff. I got a letter from NVC on April 14th that they have received our info from USCIS and within 1 week they will send our packet to India for them to schedule interview of my spouse.

Well, it's May 12 and NVC still tells us on phone inquiry that they are still processing our case and they have NOT sent it to India yet.

The worst part is they tell us there is "additional processing" going on with the case and there is NO DETAILS about what that is plus there is NO TIMELINE ESTIMATE for it.

Anyone has any idea how long it could take for NEW procedure at NVC to send K3 packet to India ?

The interesting part is that our I-130 also got approved by USCIS at the same time in April. My lawyer tells me that it is LONG ROUTE to get my spouse on Consular Processing route since it will take another 5-months average to get my spouse to USA using I-130 route. He recommends we wait on K3 Packet and bring my spouse here on K3 visa and then do her adjustment of status. I am not in RUSH for greencard. I am in rush to get my spouse here ASAP. So, he thinks K3 is my best bet.

Please guide me. My spouse is in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

Btw, I also have K4 child on my spouse's application. His I-130 is also approved like my spouse's I-130.

When you say " phone inquiry ", are you talking to an operator?

Is your I-130 application in NVC system yet? If so it should take about month or month and half (good avg) before you case can complete and interview can be assigned. Once you case is in NVC all depends on you on how fast you send them requested douments. Look in wiki for NVC guides.
