  1. Hello!!

My husband will soon become a citizen and we are reviewing information regarding applying for his parents to come and receive permanent residency. However, there are siblings under the age of 21 who are dependents of them. The youngest is 2 years old. Does this allow her to come with them or would this be a separate filing for her as a sibling of a citizen?

Any help offered would be appreciated. Thank You!

  2. Hey Everyone,

We recently received our NOA 2 and as well the letter from the NVC that they are forwarding everything to the consulate. They will have forward it this past week. I am trying to get the last few things around to send to my fiance and have a question.

    - I went down to Guatemala at the end of August to visit and at that time took with me all the financial information and I-134 forms. Since about a month and a half have passed since I filled these forms out and the letters from my bank were written, do I need to redo all of this because that time passed or is it all still valid?

    - Secondly, is it of some benefit to both go to the interview? I am just considering the option of going down for the interview and was not sure if this is necessary or not.

Please help me out as I am hoping to send everything this week. Thanks for all your help on this.

    Bendiciones!

  3. Can anyone help me answer these questions below:

    Hey Everyone,

I am still working on getting around the stuff for the I-134 as much as I can before I head down to Guatemala to visit my fiancee in a week. I have a few questions however, and could really use some clarity and help on this.

    Have a nice trip!

    1) I have been reading and based on some previous post answers, as far as a joint sponsor, I have my parents who are willing to co-sponsor who both individually make enough and then together as well. I have heard now that I can only have one of them co-sponsor even though they are married and file taxes together and have all bank accounts in both their names. Is this correct?

    Yes

    a) If so, how does that work with tax returns and such if my father is self-employed. Would I still need W-2 and information from my mom or how does this work? Super confused on this part.

Depends on who is cosponsoring, mom or dad. Whichever you will need copies of their tax forms and w-2/1099 from whichever will be sponsoring.

    2) Do my tax return copies with W-2's need to be notarized?

    No

    3) Is it required to have transcripts from the IRS on top of tax return copies with W-2s?

    No

    4) I am assuming the I-134 forms DO NOT need to be notarized. What is the bottom portion of the form for then? Who fills that out?

Not needed now, it used to be required.

    5) I am taking a COPY of the whole I-129F packet I sent in originally along with the ORIGINAL copy of the NOA1? What else would be good to take at this time? We have not yet received the NOA2, however, what I can take down in person, I would prefer to.

Any updated info from you, pay stubs...recent letters, emails, chat transcripts.

    6) I send all ORIGINALS with the I-134 as far as letters and information from employers correct? I was just thinking to make copies of all of this for me to keep here in the US as backup information.

Keep originals for you UNLESS it specifically asks for them. Send copies to him.

Alright, I think that is enough questions for now. I would GREATLY appreciate any help anyone can offer and appreciate all the advice.

    Thanks to everyone

    Bendiciones!!

    Good Luck

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!! I really appreciate it. I just had one more quick question regarding what I take to him then. You said send copies unless it asks for originals. So the NOA1, it is ok to just send a copy of this to him?

    Thanks again for your time.

  7. Hey Everyone,

I am currently working on getting around the I-134 Affadavit of Support. I will be traveling to visit my fiancee in a few weeks and since we have already started the process, figure I might as well take it down there to him.

    Here is my question:

It is stated on the embassy website for Guatemala that he will need to take with I-134, copies of the last three years of my tax return, letters, etc.. Which is not a problem. I have those. However, the poverty guideline is not met in all three years. I was serving with a mission organization over the past couple of years and therefore I did not reach the poverty guidelines. Since being back home and starting the process, I have full time employment where I will be making more in a year than the poverty guideline. However, I just started the job earlier in July. My question is this, what year do they base this off of? Should I go ahead with a co-sponsor since I have not been above the poverty level the past three years consistently? Will this affect it at all?

I do have my parents who would be willing to co-sponsor and am under the impression I need to have them fill out the copies and get all of the same stuff I will need when filling out my form and then my fiancee will take my information along with theirs as the co-sponsor. Is this the correct impression?

As well, do the forms need to be notarized?

I hope this makes sense and could greatly use some clarification before I go ahead with this. Thanks for your time and advice.

    Have a great day

  8. Hey Everyone,

So I am working on finishing up the whole package and getting it sent out. However, I do have a few quick questions:

    1) As far as the copy of the birth certificate, is it as simple as walking in the other room to the copier and copying both sides of it as I have the original stamped/notarized one, or should I go to the courthouse and request an official copy as well with a fresh notary/stamp on it?

    2) If my work history exceeds the lines that they give you on the G-325A, I am assuming it is acceptable to just continue the list and finish answering the question a second page, labeled clearly as to what the second sheet is?

Like, I said small details, but they may make the difference, that I am not sure of. Thanks again for your help.

    Bendiciones

  9. Record all employment as required by the form (5 years).
I think they only ask for the most recent tax form, not five years. Right?

This is not about taxes. It is the G-325a biographical form, you list where you have lived and worked for the last five years.

Thanks so much for your replies. I had been thinking to do it like that, however, after this, am definitely going to move forward with doing it like this. Another quick question:

    - If I have had more than five jobs in the past five years, should I continue the list on another piece of paper?

Thanks so much for your help in all of this.

  10. Hey Everyone,

Ok, rather new to all of this and have been reading through LOTS of helpful information. Here is my question then and hopefully I can get some help with this.

I am working on the employment history and am not exactly sure how to fill it out. For the past almost two years, I have been working for a mission organization. I was working in Mexico and later received support to go to Guatemala where I met my future husband. My question is this, how do I record this employment history? I filed all of the support I have received on my taxes as being self-employed as a missionary. My question is this then: Do I fill out the name and address of the employer as myself then? What would be the best way to go about this? I would appreciate any ideas or support. Thank you for your time.
