  1. Thanks so much JustD. I'll take on count every word you wrote. I'm getting a lot more nervous as the moment approaches but I will certainly try to keep your words in mind as I wait for the interview.

I'll make sure I have everything you've just mentioned in my suitcase for the big day!

    Thanks again! You're GREAT!!!!

Any updates??? I sure hope there is good news to report!!!!

Hi guys! I'm in Juarez and this has been crazy! I, after a lot of events, got approved but am stuck in Juarez until I get the visas. I'd like to ask something I had never read here but people just told me in the hotel. Is is true that once you get your visas you have to go to the bridge to get them stamped????

I have already lost a working day and spent some good amount of money and now they tell me the taxi charges 60USD to take me to the DHL office and to the "line" to have the visa stamped.

As soon as I'm out of this shock, I'll come with a decent post.

You do have to go to DHL to get your Visa's... But it isnt that expensive to go to and from.... Once you get the visa's back, you then need to figure out how you are coming into the U.S. If you go thru El Paso it is $50 for a cab ride there and then you cross there... If you fly out then you will have about a $30 cab ride to the airport. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn make sure you look into the free shuttle.

ANd by the way.... CONGRATS ON THE APPROVAL!!!!!

OK, I'm back in Mexico city. This was quite an experience!

I arrived to Juarez on Sunday. The hotel is really nice and pretty close to the Consulate as you had told me here. There's a very friendly environment there and everyone is always asking how your process is going and sharing their experiences. I have to accept that after listening to many of the stories there, I feel lucky.

On Monday we had the medicals. We heard there were lots of people at the Clinica Medica and decided to go to the older clinic. The taxi was 120 pesos and we were done in about an hour. We got the results at 4pm that day.

We went to the Consulate on Tuesday for the interview and there were lines and lines of people there. It seems like they have a lot of people now due to the influenza thing. We spent 7 hours there. First, document check, then fingerprints and at last the interview with the Consul who was truly nice. He made things a lot easier for us and helped us feel comfortable and relaxed. He didn't ask much. Only when and where I met my fiance, what my fiance and I did for living, he asked a few questions to my son like how many times he had seen my fiance, if he had had a student visa and what school grade he was planning to study in the States. Again, he was so nice that he made us feel very confident. He didn't say we had been approved but he told me he'd cancel our tourist visas so I asked if that meant we were approved and he replied, smiling, they would better be.

We were hoping we would get them on Tuesday but nothing happened. Then Wednesday, we spent almost all day checking for the tracking number and there was nothing. I had to change my flights and get another night. Just after getting in the room, we checked again and the status started changing. It was 6:40 pm when it finally appeared on the web page that the package was ready to be picked up.

We ended up getting it this morning and followed your veeeery wise advise

Just one thing. Make sure you check the Consulate will be open when you are there. Even as we didn't have a problem the first two days, the Consulate was closed on Wednesday and I didn't know until I was there. Some people say that could've been the reason for the delay in deliveries.

Thanks a lot everyone!!!!!! :D It was thanks to you, to your posts that I knew how to handle things there. I was not expecting a 7 hour wait but I knew it could take from 5 and a half to 6 hours so that helped me feel more comfortable while sitting there

Next step, planning my trip to NY in October :dance::dance:

Glad we could be of assistance!!!! We are SSOO happy to hear that you were approved!!! If you need anything else, please let us know!!! Best of luck with the move....

  4. Hello everyone! Finally the moment for my medicals and interview is almost here and I would like to double-check some things.

    1) What will I have to bring with me to the medicals????

    2) From your experience, is there any specific order for the documents I'm bringing to the Consulate?

    3) Will my son be asked any questions during the interview?

    4) Is the visa delivery still taking about a day?

    Thanks in advance!!!!

Most importantly is your passports. This is vital for all of your interviews... As far as order of paperwork for your interview there is nothing specific. Just make sure you have everything in duplicates, make sure you have your birth certificates, make sure you have everything for your son also filled out in duplicates. Pay your application fee's the day before and go into your interview with a clear mind and confidence brewing!!!

During the Medical Exam they will ask him some questions, but they shouldn't have to ask him anything during the Consular Interview.

Delivery for most instances is about a day now, so you should have the same.

MOST importantly, STAY CALM!!!!! Check your paperwork, believe in what you are doing and stay positive!!!! You will be fine, the interview will go GREAT!!!! The confidence you have now will help you with the interview. Best of luck!!!

  5. Just a little update.... We arrived in Phoenix on Thursday EARLY morning (5-28-2009). Spent the most part of Thurs around the house just getting her and her son settled in... Friday was spent around the pool almost all day!!! HAHAHA! Took them to San Diego for a little Sea World weekend for the 1st weekend here.... And now they are back and just trying to familiarize themselves with Arizona. We need a week off!!!!

Good Luck to all going thru the same process, stress and time this week. I only hope you all can have the same results as we have. BEST OF LUCK EVERYONE!!!!

  6. PGP, I am SO SORRY to hear about this situation!!! What was the reasonings??? Dont get to deflated in your attempt! MOst waivers still give you an ample chance of proving that there was a legitimate reason for them to still look at an approval. Best of luck, stay positive!!!

  7. Thanks everyone for your kind words and support!!!! I wish everyone the best of luck that has interviews coming up in the near future and beyond!!!!

All in all Cuidad Juarez was a really nice time. The town and the people are nice, the process though long was well worth it!!! Now it's on with the next chapter of our lives.... Again thanks everyone!!

  8. We just went thru this with my Fiance's 3 y/o. They did the medicals on Wednesday and we had the results ready to go for the interview on Firday morning. She told them she had an interview scheduled for Friday morning and they had the results ready by 8am. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they arent too busy this week yet and have been closed over the last few days. Just our situation but as you know everyone is different. Expect the 48hr wait for results. So if you get here Monday you should be able to do the interview on Thursday. But REMEMBER the consulate is closed the last Friday of every month. We ended up being here Wed thru Wed. Seems like a normal thing. Plan a week, enjoy the town and be positive for your fiance. best of luck!!!!

  9. Went to Banamex this morning.... In line at 9:30.. In the consulate immediately.... Approved at 11:52am!!!!!! Now I can breathe again.... Now there is more planning to bring everyone home finally!!!!! Thanks for everyone's kind words and advice. It really helped us all in this process! Best of luck for everyone doing their interviews in the next few days. Hopefully it goes smoothly for you all....

  10. For everyone who is going through this right now, I just want to give my 2 cents, take it or leave it:

    1. No 2 cases, either the medical or the interview, are exactly the same, so don't worry excessively if your case varies either a little or a lot from other cases. It's only after the interview that you can take action if something didn't work out, but there really is no point losing sleep or giving yourself an ulcer BEFORE you even find out anything.

    2. Because of the consulate being closed due to swine flu (and the fact that it seems something changes all the time with them), on the consulate side and DHL side things might be a little weird for a while. It also is very likely affecting the medical exams. Starting out after the period where they closed there was no backlog, but now that everyone that planned to go in the first couple weeks of May are probably all going now, there will more than likely be a wait (which will only increase before it starts to lag off a bit more).

    3. Be positive (as hard is it may be). Juarez has a high approval rate for K-1's that are straightforward (meaning legit relationship, no drug problems/mental health problems/past illegal entries). Your positive attitude will have a HUGE effect on how confident your fiance(e) is in the interview. This is probably the most important thing.

BY far the best advice I have received in a while!!!!!! We needed it too as I am sure we are questioning EVERYTHING as we all do when you are a day from the interview!! Gonna take her to a nice dinner and try to have a great evening before the big day... More to come tomorrow...

The very best of luck to you! Remember: "If you can't change your fate, change your attitude" -A Chinese Proverb

    Everything will be GREAT!

Medical results werent ready in timt to catch the 10am cutoff, so we will be there 1st thing in the morning on Tuesday..... More to come

  12. thats what I think NOT normal  I am at work so I have not talked to him in details to see what they told him but this so much more stressful because I have all sorts of ideas going through my head

Don't stress... Everything will be fine.... I have found that not 1 case is the same, so there is no need to worry!!! Best of luck!!! I will be there more than likely until next week. When are you planning on coming down??

Did whomever take the medical get sent to the Psychologist? If so, not good. If he was not sent to psychologist, I wouldn't worry about it.

My fiance's son who is 3 got sent to a pschologist. Should I be worried??

  14. Has anyone went thru the process with a dependant?? I am still trying to figure out what paperwork if any I need to bring for my fiance's son. Thanks all!!!

What are your specific questions? Is your fiance's son getting a K2 visa? If so, you need to fill out the DS-156 for the child, have an original birth certificate and passport. Also, the child will need to have a medical exam and if the child is under 14, the results will take 72 hours to be ready. You have to pay the visa fee for both the K1 and K2 and the child needs to attend the interview.

If you have more specific questions, ask me and I'll try to help. I just went through the process with a K2 a little over a month ago.

I was just wondering what applications we need to have filled out for him. I searched and searched and all I could find was a o-156 and that isn't used anymore I dont think. We did also fillout the new DS-160 online. I want to make sure I have EVERYTHING we need. We have originals and copies of the birth certificates (long and short versions). We just got his passport and we are leaving tomorrow so we can get the Medical Exams started. Just trying to be as prepared as possible and now I am freaking out because we leave tomorrow!!!

He is 3 years old. I didnt know for sure if they were using the DS-160, I just filled it out anyways. I did the DS-156 for him already and I will do a DS-157 tomorro just in case. I head out in the afternoon. She is there now and they are doing their Medical's in the morning. Again thanks for your advice!

Please, somebody correct me if I am wrong but Juarez still isn't using the DS-160. They are still using only the DS-156. That was all that was asked for about 6 weeks ago when my fiance and her daughter were there. How old is the child? Someone help me out here but I think all males over 18 need to fill out the DS-157 as well. I know it's not asked for by the CO sometimes but the instructions say that all males over a certain age must fill it out and bring it. So if you can tell me his age, I can help you a little more and tell you exactly what you need to do.

You don't need to do a DS-157 for a 3 year old boy. If you see it, you will realize it's not necessary. It asks about school and job history and military service. So just a DS-156(print two copies), medical and pay the fee for the K2(same amount as K1...unbelievable but true). I hope you planned for the 72 hour wait for the results of the child's medical exam. It's because of a bullshit TB test but those are the rules so...........

    Good Luck with everything!

Thanks for the advice. I have filled out the DS-156 and I completely understand what you are saying about the DS-157. They went thru the medicals this morning and everything seemed to go ok. They said his results would be ready by Friday. What is the latest they can go to the consulate for the actual interview?? I was hoping to beat the weekend and Monday off for the Holiday. The waiting game is KILLING me!!!! But we can't do anything about it now and we will just have to play the game. HOPEFULLY this all works out soon!!! Again thanks for the advice.

I really hate to give you bad news but most likely won't be doing your interview until next Tuesday. You won't get your results back from the clinic on Friday in time to be able to go for the interview. The open appointment for the consulate is 8am-10am. They told my fiance to go to the clinic at 11am the day the results would be ready. She went at 11 and they told her everything was fine with the results but to come back at 3pm to get the packet.

My fiance was there for a full week with her daughter(we were prepared for and scheduled it like that though) and it looks like it will be about the same for you. It's a bunch of ####### in my opinion. What should be a 3 day trip turns into a week long trip and an extra $300-$400 with extra hotel nights, food and entertainment because of a TB test. You said it best: You'll just have to play the game. We can't change much but rather just do as we are told.

I kind of figured this was going to be the case, but what are you going to do. We are going to ask tomorrow if there is ANY way we can pick them up 1st thing in the morning so we can try to beat the cutoff, but I am assuming the worst. She said her exam went by fast and that there wasnt a lot of people there so you never know... We have come this far, not going to let that rattle me! So the journey continues... Hopefully its all worth it in the end.

  15. my fiance just came back from his medical but results will not be ready till tomorrow around 10.00 is this normal? I thought they were ready that same afternoon still more confusion  now interview till friday

That is a little weird.... Like I said my fiance is there now and she did this today also. She has her results and we are just waiting til friday for her son's. But you know what, dont worry about it and dont give yourself anymore stress. Just wait until tomorrow and things will work out!!!!

  16. Has anyone went thru the process with a dependant?? I am still trying to figure out what paperwork if any I need to bring for my fiance's son. Thanks all!!!

That is GREAT news!!!! CONGRATS!!!!! My fiance gets there today and I get in tomorrow night... I sure hope we can have similar news in the days to come.... BEST OF LUCK guys!!!!!

  20. Hello all.... Well the wait seem to FINALLY be over and we are making arrangements to fly out on Sunday... One question I have in my way too thorough but necessary checking and re-checking of all this paperwork is this. My fiance will be bringing her son along for the interview. What paperwork do we have to have included in our paperwork?? We spent the last 2 days at the consulate in Guadalajara getting his passport, but now I cant seem to find what paperwork he needs for this interview. I though I spotted somewhere where he needed something also. ANY help will be appreciated!!! and MAN is this going to be a LONG weekend!! Thanks in advance!

  21. Question for some of you that have gone thru this process..... My Fiance will be bringing her son with her (obviously for medical) and then if approved he will be coming with across the border. Question I have is, should she bring him in for the interview, or can he stay with me while she goes thru the process??? Thanks!

    AND........... Congrats to vivamex!!!!

  22. Question for you all.... The Consulate received my packet from the NVC on the 26th of March. I called today to see if Packet 3 had been sent out and they said it will be 90 days before this is sent. Does this seem to be correct?? I would like to hear how long others have taken. Seems to me most people are 30 days or so. Thanks!!!
