  1. You ought to get the NOA letter well before your trip. Should be just a couple of weeks. Some folks here on VJ have also made an Infopass appointment to get the passport stamp as well prior to traveling.

A change of address is a change of address. Why change it to a friend's instead of your own? Don't forget that if your I-864 sponsor moves their address needs to be updated as well.

You, the GC holder, change address online with the form AR-11. The sponsor mails in the form I-865 for change of address.

The USPS will not forward your GC, so be sure that you get the change in as soon as you know your NY address.

The form AR-11 does not change address on a pending application. The AR-11 must be mailed to the address, which is written on that form and that changes the Alien address on DHS/USCIS's database. Form AR-11 can not be submitted online.

For your pending application, you can either change your address online with USCIS or call USCIS 800 number and they will change it.

  2. hi all!

Congratulations to everyone who just got approved!!! My wife had an CR1 inetrview today in Islamabad. She was approved and they kept her passport and told her that she will recieve her passport along with visa within four days via American Express Courier service. They asked very simple questions about my job and how we met etc. They did see our weeding pics and then approved her. My wife said that there was a pakistan guy with an American lady and they both interviwed her. She said that they both were very polite and nice with her.

  6. hi all!

Hope you are doing fine! I wanted ask you something and would apperciate if you can help me in this thing.

My cousin's wife had an IV interview last week and she just got a visa in Pakistan. She is travelling here on this weekend, but she says that they never asked her to sign DS-230 part 2. My cousin is getting worried that it may be a problem at POE. What do you think about this?? Has this happen to anyone here?? Please Reply!! And we have an interview on 13, so please pray for us! Thanks!!

  10. hi all!

It's a avery good and informative thread. Hope you all get out of this AP soon and be united with your loved ones. My wife's interview is on August 13. Can anyone who recently had an interview clarify about where to get the shuttle bus? I know they have moved from convention center. This is the address that I have

Third Avenue near Quaid-e-Azam University Road, G-5

But I believe this is NOT in Bara Koh. I am from Rawalpindi, so I am somewhat familiar with the roads. Please Clarify!! Thanks!

  11. hey guys I have a question, I wanted to know if there is anyway to have one yr extension rather than having to enter the states every 6months with green card?

    Thanks

Yes, you have to get a Re-Entry Permit. I think you can stay out for two years and then, you have to come back. You have to apply for it and it takes couple of months to get the permit. Best of luck to you!!!

  12. Hi Chrissy. Glad to hear from you again. I'm so happy that you and little Sofia are doing great. And the best part is, Ben is finally coming home to you two tomorrow night. I can only imagine how emotional that reunion will be. I'm really excited for you and your beautiful family. :star:

As for the POE, there's nothing to worry about. I'm sure Ben will have no problems at all. Since I was there with Carlo during his entry, here's what I remember happened. The DHS/USCIS officer scanned the visa/passport to pull out and have Carlo's immigration data on his computer screen. After taking Carlo's photograph and fingerprints, the officer asked us following questions: was I the petitioner, how long have we been married (I guess to find out if he would process a CR-1 or IR-1 visa). He then asked Carlo to get his thumbs print on the I-551 form (green card). The officer then asked for the visa envelope. While examining the immigration forms, he was reminding us that the since we've been married for less than two year, Carlo would get a two-year green card. There was a conditional resident status on the green card that should be removed 90 days before it expires in two years. He wanted to confirm the mailing address where the green card will be mailed at. He said that if we requested for SSN on the DS-230 form, there was no need to apply for one at the SSA. He reminded us not to go to the SSA office, otherwise the SSA would issue two numbers. We were asked to sign a form stating that I am the petitioner and he is the immigrant; that we are aware of the conditional status on the visa; and we are required to file a joint petition to remove it. The green card would be mailed within six month, and in the meanwhile, the endorsed visa (with i-551 stamp on it) would serve as a temporary green card. The officer welcomed Carlo to the US, and we were free to go and get our luggages.

Carlo is scheduled to take his written test to get his driving permit sometimes this week or early next week. Hopefully, he will pass the written test so he can practice driving around before taking the actual driving test. He really needs his license before he can start looking for a job.

Thanks carlish for sharing POE experiance with us!! I was surprised to know that you both had to fill out that form to show that you understand that you will have to file to rmove conditions. How about if somone is coming alone. My wife might be coming alone, so was that form only for one person? What will they do if she is coming alone?

  14. Kiran just called with the good news. She was approved for K1 visa this morning. and was told that she will get the passport back within 2 weeks (NO AP)..

Interview: Lady counselor asked just one question: how did you meet? and congratulated Kiran on the visa. WOW

Kiran made an observation that the couselor was attaching the passport with our file as she asked the question.. Which makes me wonder if the decision was already made.........

No other proof of relationship was asked for. Didnt ask for photos either. She was out of the embassy by 10:30AM.

I think we got lucky here. Dont expect all the interviews to go like this.. Be prepared and have sufficient proof to go along.

Congratulations!! Please let us know when she gets the visa!! I am glad that the interview was so easy for you!

  15. hi all!

Do you think it's a good idea to email Islamabad Embassy to conform an interview appointment few days before an interview date??? Has anyone done that??

Didnt you get ur interview appointment letter/email ?That is ur confirmation so y stress over confirming it ?

It is not my first time dealing with stupid Embassy in Islamabad. They are very unpredictable. There were some people in the past whose interview dates were changed and they find this out when they went to the embassy.

  16. LOL!!! V? You've been called out, pics are requested!

In other things for me - the DHL package LEFT Wilmington, OH at 6:49am this morning. SO wasn't able to get his bloodwork results yesterday - hopefully today.

You wish, suckers, yooouuu wish! :P

Forgot to tell you, hubster had his medical yesterday, everything went well. He is supposed to call the doctor again on Friday to get the final word, but so far from speaking with the doctor everything seems in order, I am not worried ...

I am slowly starting to pack, picking out outfits to bring with me. I am kinda shallow, like to dress nicely, so I haul loads of clothing with me and then end up wearing just like 2-3 outfits when I go visit him. But the thought of not having multiple outfitting options ...yeah no, it's not for me :)

That's where my girlyness went! I am lucky if I pack a pair of jeans and a few t-shirts!

hey guys i finlly got my NO2 jul 20th. Just wanted to let you know. :)

    Congratulatiuons!!!

  17. I had my wife's IR1 case completed with NVC on 07-10-2009 (Found through NVC Automated system). I called NVC and the nice lady told me that there were no interview dates available at islamabad for the month of August 2009.

They schedule the interviews during the first two weeks of every month for the interviews to be conducted in the following month, so I should call back in the third week of August to find the interview date.

I am surprised, that it will take more than a month just to schedule the interview date. I want to be with her at the interview time but unless I know the date, I cannot plan ahead.

Is anybody out there who had the same experience?

Anyway keep it up. Nice forum.

Yes, the same thing happend to me. Our case was completed by the second week of june, but interview date was available in July, so they gave us an interview date in August. Yours will probably be in September and NVC might mail you that letter in this month as we got ours on June 24 for an August interview. Good luck!!
