Its been 2 months and I have not yet applied for AOS. I came on K3 visa and i know it is a 2 year multiple entry visa, we are in the middle of buying a house and just wanted to know how much time do we have before applying for AOS.

Thank God ,so after a long wait and a successful K-3 interview at Chennai, India i am now trying to track my passport. Its been 3 working days now. On the VFS website is says they have not yet received my passport yet. https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/ApplnForms/TrackYourPassport.aspx
I am having problems with my mail man. I received a letter dated 30th April, today ( after 2 weeks ) but the VFS utilizes blue dart courier service, so hope they dont have any problems, but i fly out in a week, so i am trying to make a counter pick up for the passport at the VFS.
How can i stop them from mailing it, so i can go pick it up ?
Also, where is the visa ? is it not anymore a packet that comes in mail that should not be opened ? or is the visa stamped inside the passport ?
Please help

hi
if u got ur passport recently that is in april then i dont think u need to worry. They issued you a passport after your police clearance and that will be valid for 6 months of issuing date.have a look at this link..under police records.

all the best
Thanks for the reply, but it says that i still need to get the PCC from passport office, and they are taking too much time, They said they have to do enquiry and all that stuff.

i was too slow is gettin my documents, and im running out of time. I just got my new passport in April and my interview is next month. I can only get a PCC from my local police station, and the PCC from Passport office is taking longer than expected, as that office is full of corruption.
Will the other PCC work ? will i get visa...

I have read it on this site under INTERVIEW, that i wont be eligible for my k3 visa if my I-130 is approved. How true is it. My K3 interview is next month, and both my I-129f and I-130 were approved same time in early March and i decided to go with K3, hoping my CR1 will eventually die.
help!!

As of now get you passport, Birth certificate and marriage certificate ready. Get the Police clearance certificate, get medical exams done when they tell you to do, they will also send you some forms to fill out. thats it

I am not sure on the visa, but 6 months is a long window. So plan properly. I would suggest you move your interview date, when you get one, so she can get here after her studies.

It took me almost 6 months for my I-129F to get approved. it depends on the country too, so give some time....

I included my email when i filed my I-129f and they sent me an email 2 months in advance and told me to get a print out of this email as your appointment letter incase if you dont get any packets.
also they sent me 9 different attachments in the email.... all forms and info letter.

hello all,
I am a bit confused between these forms. The ds-156 is a non immigrant visa application form and the ds-230 is an Immigration visa application form. I am going for K3 and my interview is next month. I heard in chennai consulate, they have 2 lines as you enter the consulate, so i am not sure which one to get into ( immirantion or non-immiration )
also, why would they have two totally different names/categories for these two forms when i am applying for just a k3.

Can someone explain more on this. i was trying fill up I-864 and take it with me just incase

Whats the difference in the I-130 and K3? Would a foreign spouse need both? or just the I-130?
Those are the two different ways a foreign spouse can come to USA. K3/I-129f is faster than I-130 , but just by 2-3 weeks in my opinion. They both have interviews and almsot the same documentation required other than a few forms here n there.
I believe I-130 is better in the long run. It is slightly less cost to file and your spouse can come and work ,
while I-129f will require further processing in the US after your spouse arrival.
Hope that helps.

Yes, it is a good idea if he is there with you for the interview. He may not be allowed to be at your side during the interview, but you can carry his passport with you to show that he is in the building.
You will need to study those forms carefully, so that you can answer questions about what was written. Often, people are asked tough questions about their fiance, just to be sure they know each other quite well.
You can never be sure you will have your visa that soon after the interview. There may be some administrative processing to complete.
hmmm, well this is K3 visa and we are married. so usually in my country in India ( in chennai ) they usually mail the visa after 1-2 days , but every case cud be different.

Hi all
I was wondering if it would be a good idea if my spouse would accompany me for the interview. He wants to come here a day before interview and we would then fly out to USA after 2 weeks. Will he be allowed to enter the consulate ? he is a US citizen.
Also, will this create any problem or so, or is it better ? please help as he has done all the paper work for me including my forms and i dont know much abt it.

Hello all,
I got my I-129f approved in the first week of this month (March ) and then 2 weeks later i get an email from Chennai IVU stating my wifes interview date is on 14th May ( wooooo hoooo, no packet 3 or 4, straight email !!! ) and they sent me a bunch on forms (9) and also told me to bring a print out of that email if my wife does not get any packets.
so i got DS-156 and i-134 in their attachements in the email and now i am wondering if those forms are for k1 ??? we are married and applying for k3. will i need I-134 or I-864 . Also, in the download section on VJ i see ds156 and i134 under k1 and i864 under k3, so i m confused but the email says otherwise
Please help.

If you have an attorney then you should let them handle it. So they can do it correct and not have any delays.
ya you need to start making your I-134 along with bank letter, job letter and tax returns.
she will need : marriage certificate, birth cert., police clearance cert, photos, passport, medical exam....and some forms filled up.
What do you mean K3 is valid for 90 days ? i thought it was a 2 year multiple entry visa

The VFS is asking to drop off all documents 10-15 days prior to interview (except the orignal passport ). My wife does not wanna make 2 trips to US Consulate in Chennai, one for the medical and one for the K3 interview. Is it possible to drop off medical reports during the interview ?
