  1. Please consider reading the FAQ's and Guides before posting.

Sorry. I didn't see the information in the FAQ so I will look again. This site is extremely helpful so I appreciate you pointing me to the correct resource.

    Thanks again!

The letter must specify: relationship with you and your wife, why you are inviting her e.g. (birth, wedding, vacation, graduation etc), duration of her visit, who will pay for her visit. Use terms such as, "we both can't wait to see you and your family again." This should give a basic idea.

Thanks so much for your complete answer. It is for people like you that I continue to visit this site.

    Thanks again!

  2. Hello all!

My wife and I are expecting our first child and she would like her mother to be here for the birth. Her mother is from Peru and is nervous about being denied the ability to come. The baby isn't due until October so her mother would like to go this month to start the process. I believe we can/should write a letter on her behalf but I'm not sure what would be appropriate for this letter and what sorts of things might be helpful to include. Is there a template or could someone provide an example of what they've done in this case?

    Thanks for any help!

  3. Hello all!

Just filling out yet another round of papers and I have a question about the fees. My wife was told by a friend that she should file the I-765 (Work Authorization) along with the I-485 in order to save paperwork and fees. Now that I'm filling out the paperwork I can see it saves having to submit the same papers twice, but it appears there is no exception for my category of (a)(9) K3 Non-Immigrant Spouse. Obviously, we processed under the I-130 for her entry.

It looks like I'm stuck with yet another fee, but it made sense that filing together would relieve some of the fees.

    Thanks for any pointers!

    Sorry all, found my answer:

If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, and you paid the I-485 application fee required, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485.

I'm going to ignore the filing location in the I-765 instructions and file along with the I-485.

    Thanks!

  5. My wife and I are finally together in the US! We arrived over this last weekend after a long flight from Peru and are crazy happy to be together. After the months (years?!) of being apart we're taking a mental break from paperwork and such, but..... I'd like to get prepared for the next step. VisaJourney has been *invaluable* in helping prepare everything. I attribute the organization I was able to attain with the forums and example forms to our quick processing. I can't thank everyone here enough. Since our wedding and submitting the papers, everything went really quickly. So great!

Now... since we're together I realize the next steps include the AOS and EAD and Social Security number. I haven't seen a great reference on this site that provides the nice step-by-step process like exists for the K-3 Visa (130F/129F). Can someone direct me to the information on this site if it exists, or perhaps provide their own information?

Thanks again all, and keep smiling! If you're not together now, you will be soon. Just keep loving each other and it will all be worth it! :)

  6. Hello all!

This is my first posting here and I believe we're nearing the point where we should be notified about the interview date soon!

I'm a little confused over a couple of items I've received from the NVC. We have filed the I-130F and then the I-129F.

On March 24th I received a notice from the NVC that indicates they received an approved I-129F and that they will forward it to the visa-issuing post overseas. It also says that soon my wife will receive a packet with instructions on how to apply for the K3 visa. This was incredibly exciting news and I was/am expecting to receive the date any day now, along with the requests for information from myself. Today I received a packet from the NVC stating that the immigrant visa petition has arrived at the NVC for processing and they request the Affidavit of Support processing fee. I paid it, to avoid any delays (as stated in the letter), but I'm wondering if this was for the I-130F? The NVC Case numbers are different, but it doesn't state in the letter I received today what this is specifically for. I know I will have to provide the AOS, but I find it strange that they've asked for the processing fee before I've provided the information.

Was it wrong to send the AOS processing fee? Are these items referencing the two different cases (130/129)??

    Thanks much!
