  1. Hello all,

Today my sweet little fiance lands and I will be on vacation all next week from work so I would like to know where to go next...

Apply for marriage license I think is the first thing, right?

    Get married :)

Apply for SSN? when can I do that?

AOS..? I guess I will do that in July when I have the $$$$

When applying for AOS, is that the green card application process? Or is that separate? (sorry, beginner question)

    Driver's license?

Thanks for all your help, I just need to be steered in the right direction here :)

The excitement is just jumping off the post!! I love it! Congratulations

If you're going to get married right away, wait on the SS card so that it comes with her new name on it...saves you a trip to the SS office..lol. Get your marriage license and get married within 90 days. After the 90 days is up (or before if you can), she will apply for AOS (which is basically greencard application). You can also do advance parole (which allows her/him to travel before the greencard arrives) and EAD (employment authorization-self explanatory) at the same time without being charged extra. In our case, we got the greencard straight away, no AP or EAD. But I would still do it if she wants to work...just in case!

Good luck to you! Everything gets better once she's here :)

    Have a great weekend!

  2. I just got my receipt numbers yesterday through email/texts and I tried to access my case online but it says that the case does not exist in the system. Do I have to wait longer before it shows up, or am I doing something wrong? :D

Good morning! In our experience it took about a week to show up on their site. It might of been a little less but I stopped trying for a few days. Good luck!

  3. Hmmm, I'm worried about the birth certificates part as I lost the English translation of mine and John's original at Cairo Airport the day I flew to him.. We tried to contact Cairo Aiport authorities and the Egyptian embassy in the US with no help.. We did contact Home Land Security and it us to USCIS to prevent our identity's theft.. The only option we have now is file for new birth certificates and a translation for mine.. Did Majid request a translation of his at the Morrocan Embassy or did he do it on his own?

He did it on his own. He just certified that the translation was accurate and signed. He had translations done there and forgot them. His brother is mailing them, but we could wait for all that...

  4. Good luck, Anna! :)

What did you send in with the AOS packet?

I have the cover letter at home. I'll copy and paste the body of it into a reply on this thread later. It wasn't that difficult. Just make sure John orders his tax transcripts now so you won't have to worry about them later. The only other "odd" thing was Majid's birth certificate with translation. Everything else was simple :)

  5. He's finally coming home! Be sweet, make him feel at home...as if he was away and just came home :) Guide him to do things on his own in the house...remind him everything is "ours"...in your own way ;) Within a couple of days he'll be right at home :) Have a phone card ready for him to call his family whenever he wants...good food and a comfortable bed and you're good to go! Things will come naturally because you love and care for him..don't worry :)

  6. Thank you to all of you :) NOW I'm relaxed..lol. Well, not really...it looks like a tornado has hit my 2 bedroom apartment because I've decided to move everything around....BIG mistake...lol. I still have time though...everything will be perfect :)

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

Richard, I saw your pics...beautiful!! I hope everyone is doing well :)

    which pics are those?

omg was I looking at someone else's pics????

  7. I've actually never seen someone mention it myself, but in my opinion...better safe than sorry! If you wouldn't mind :time:;)

lol... We already had them done and too late to do them again b4 the interview. :-|

Lol...I'm sure it will be just fine

Inshallah!! I just looked at the list and asked him, and turns out the translator that did do his papers was on the list... so alls good!

See! All IS good :) When is his interview?
