Hi everyone, I passed my citizenship test today! after the interview the officer gave me the letter to appear for the ceremony on 9/8/12 at 9.30am at Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, VA. Is it normal to have a ceremony on a Saturday? I'm wondering wherther its typo.

If you move to a different state in between having biometrics and citizenship interview, will the interview take place in your new state? Will it slow down the process?

Hi Everyone,
I have a few question for a friend of mine, who is a Perm. Resident married to a US Citizen. She has applied for citizenship,had her biometrics and is now waiting for interview date. The problem is since sending in the N400, her circumstances have changed as she lost her job and they are selling their house to move in with husbands parents in a different state.
My question is, apart from letting USCIS know about the change of address, is there anything here that could pose a problem with becoming a citizen, e.g the fact that the info on the form in terms of employer and owning a home together (mortgage docs) are now not relevant? When she goes for her interview will she have to provide something from the former employer to show being made redundant? As there is now not a mortgage or rental lease,or bills in their name is it enough that bank accounts/credit cards etc are now linked to the parents house? Once you give a change of address, will they make the interview in the new state (PA) or will it be in the same state as the Bio (MD)? They aren't that far away so that isn't a big problem.
Also, while she is waiting for the interview date, will it be fine for her to go back to her home country for a month (less if she gets the interview date earlier but looking at time lines it is unlikely)as a vacation as she will be maintaining residency as its less than 6 months?

George files an I-130 for his wife of 40 years and she receives an IR-1 visa with which she enters the U.S. on July 1, 2011.
Here is the question for you, Kirsty, and please don't let me down here:
Is Emma eligible for U.S. citizenship on July 2, the very next day, because she is married to George for over 40 years?
I know it's a tricky one, so sleep on it.

Can anyone tell me if I can apply for Citizenship from date of marriage or do I have to wait until 3 yrs from date of Permanent Residencey? I arrived in US on a J1 visa in October 2007. I got married to a US citizen in April 2009 and received my permanent residence card in August 2009. I am hoping I can apply for citizenship on our 3rd anniversary in April 2012 or do I have to wait until August 2012 when I have been a PR for 3 years?

Hi everyone, does anyone know of a website like this one for advice on visas for the UK? I am English, married to a USC and living in US. We would probably wait until I had my US citizenship but are then considering moving to England and I am wondering if we can arrange the visas from the US so my husband can look for work straight away, or if we have to move there first and then start the process?

My 2 yr conditional visa will run out in Aug 2011. I have not been able to find work in US for some time now and have the opportunity of a job back in the UK. Does anyone know if there is a maximum amount of time I can go back to UK without it affecting my visa? when the time comes could i send in the removing condition forms without living in US? My husband would still be here in US. i realize i would have to fly back to US for biometric test. I would only take this job as a temporary measure for income and as I intend to come back to US permanently to be with my husband so wouldnt be able to do it if it jeapordises my US visa situation. This wasn't our plan at all but unfortunately the economic situation here is meaning we have to think of other options ;(
If i went back to UK and did not remove conditions,what happens, would we have to start the whole perm. residency thing from scratch again upon my return to US?

Once you have been married to a US citizen for 3 years and get your citizenship, does this give you a US passport? And can I keep my original British passport?
Also, in the future when we have children in the US, they will obviously be US citizens but are they allowed one day to also be British citizens?

We went to the Court House and got our certified copy of our Marriage Certificate while we waited. It only cost $6 or $7.
I got a second copy by going online and ordering it (from the Court House). It arrived in a couple of weeks, if I recall.

Just got our interview date - yay! My question is, we only got one certified copy of our marriage document, and we sent that in with our I-485 application. The interview letter says you must bring a certified copy with you, but now we only have copies not a certified copy. Will they accept a copy or do i need to get another certified copy? Will there be time, our interview is on August 10th.

I was originally on a J1 visa, got married to a USC in US and I have already sent off my i-485, i-130 and EAD. i am filling in my i-131, i asked the lady at INFOPASS how i could go home if required in an emergency as my grandmother is elderly and she recommended this and have a few questions:
Part 1. 3. Class of Admission - do I put AOS?
Part 7.1 Can I put more than one trip or do i have to put one trip?
As i do not know what the date of intended departure date or expected length of trip, what shall i put?
She told me to attach a copy of my I-485 NOA, and there is no fee - is that all i should include?

Hi everyone, i received my NOA on May 15th but I still havent received an appointment for my biometrics, I read people saying you can walk in to your appointment ahead of the date, my question is - would it do any good turning up or is it only once you have an appointment that you can go early for it? I really need my EAD asap! Also, will the biometric appointment be at the office where my local infopass is?

Hi, my NOA arrived on May 15 and I haven't heard about a biometric test yet, even though i see people who filed after me have received an appointment. When I get it, will be close to me (Im in Los Angeles) or will i have to travel?
Also, what does Touched mean? I see it on some peoples timelines - thank you!

Yes, you only mentioned 2 pieces of paper, but all my pieces of paper usually end up around 15, and I consider it to be fairly simple/typical. Make sure you're sending everything in.
Alternatively, why don't you see if the IRS won't send you a transcript. They are free, and then you don't have to worry about including all the schedules etc. Phone number for the IRS is 1800-829-1040. If you go this route, don't wait too long, it can take 15 days to receive them, which will eat up a lot of your RFE window.
Maybe do both.
