i just got my NOA 2. what is tis NVC site everyone talks about. where is it? what do i do on it? whats the purpose of it

  2. ok wait. i just got my noa 2 too -- ghahana. so what am i supposed to do? i eed to call the NVC thingie--why? whats theat for? ZEE BEE WHERE ARE YOU!! I NEED YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

how do we do the NVC tracking with DHL.. i remember reading that a few months ago...

    Hello-

I am still new on the site and am having no luck finding information on Ghana and getting packet 3 and 4.

Once you receive the NOA2 (I know you send a copy to your fiance and the entire I-129 packet) and the information is sent to the embassy from NVC- does the fiance receive notification to go pick it up or do you have to call to see if it is at the embassy (I know most of the paperwork can be downloaded online so you can work on it before hand.)

Also do you receive the information about medical exams at this point? (I have read the thread about the exams in Ghana but they need paperwork to bring with them correct?)

Also do you have to use the online NIV program to make an appointment or do they give you one with the K-1 application?

Is packet 4 given once the VISA is issued?

    Thank-you!

The way it is suppose to work is that the Embassy in Ghana mails a notification to your fiance' to come and pick up the packets from the Embassy. In our case, my fiance' never received the letter from the embassy so I sent them an email requesting a status. They wrote back to me (you need to give them a few days to respond - but they will) with instructions that he could come to pick up his package on any Wednesday as early as 7:30 a.m. He brought with him a copy of the NOA2 and the email I received from the embassy. They actually gave him both packets (3 & 4). A short time after he picket up his packets I received a letter in the mail from the embassy telling me that he could pick up his packets. I don't know why I got the snail mail and he didn't. However, my email to them did the trick.

The packets included all of the forms he needed to complete and present during his interview along with instructions on the medical process and all necessary paperwork for the medicals.

  3. Hey guy. Isent in my K1 application in mid march 2009 to Vermont reguilar application -- I-129F.

I got a letter TODAy stating that my fiance can go ahead and do what he needs to do on his end.been approved.

So it took 5 months to get approval.

So if you filed in March, HOORAY because the approvals are coming.

I thought it was gona take 6 months, it only took 5.

Now i have to gather my tax stuff, etc.

    KEEP HOPE ALIVE FOLKS!!

  4. OK guys. Can we put alist together of questions the embassy is asking. I think it was MYO, Zee and some other people who listed questions that were asked. Can the other people who have gone to the embassy within the past 6 months , add the questions that were asked and then ill make one big list.

Also, what forms were needed? I know we can go online and find what forms are needed, but i rember once a VJ ember went for a K1 but they were asking for forms that are needed whne you are married..Has anyone else hadthat problem where the embassywas asking for forms that werent even needed by a K1 but yet they were asking. I know like 4-5 people have gone this year or are about to- pre, ez, and some other folks.

Id like to just have a master list of questions and comlications and oddities.

  5. How to make the I-129 F petition folder to send to Immigration: how I did it:

Ok. This is what I had: the US Citizen will be the one doing all the work at this stage. All the foreigner has to do is sign 4 sheets of paper and submit passport pix to the US Citizen, so that the US citizen can start putting the application together.

First, I bought a manila folder, the kind that opens up, like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_folder.

On the cover of the folder I glued a sheet of paper that said, " I-129F petition" . And I put our names on it.

Ok, now the inside of the folder:

First I put 2 holes at the top and I two hole punched everything, all the papers.

I fastened everything with the ACCO fasteners—

    http://www.instaoffice.com/2-piece-paper-f...992-ctn.0.7.htm

Then I had dividers, the kind you put in a Binder with the colored tabs, they are three hole punched on the sides, but I 2 hole punched the top.. these kind of dividers: http://www.jiffysupply.com/servlet/the-298/Dividers/Detail

With these dividers they come with the sheet of paper that allows me to write in what the topic is on the tab.

Ok, so now for assembling—everything I am saying applies to the US Citizen—

    A. The first thing you will put in the folder will be the I 129 Cover letter. This letter will look like the following (look below for example - edit it based on your needs. And make sure you put the right USCIS address on it—vermont, Ca, or somewhere else):

    US Citizen name,address, number

United States Department of Homeland Security

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

    Accurate address

    Date

Nature of the submission: I-129F ORIGINAL SUBMISSION

    To whom it may concern:

Enclosed please find my form I-129F, Petition for K-1 Fiance(e) Visa for (put your fiance(e) name here), and supporting documents.

    Contents Include:

-Payment in the amount of $XX – whatever the current amount is—look here--it was 455, but it always increases:

    ---------------------

Ok, so lets talk about the contents of the package:

    1. The petition –the I-129F petition- you the US Citizen will sign that petition.

    2. i-129 F supplement: this is just a brief detail of how you met your honey.thats all—just type it up on a sheet of paper because that box they give you in the petition is too small. Sign it and date it.

    3. the G 325 A- the Us Citizen will fill out 4 copies of it and sign each copy. The immigrant also needs to sign four copies of it and sign it. You will see how each copy says something different in the left bottom corner, like consulate, etc. Make sure you, the US Citizen send immigration the copies with the ORIGINAL signatures. So if you need to send the immigrant the forms to sign and then have that person send them back to you in the mail, that is what you will have to do.

Make sure you fill out these forms accurate and accordingly. Look here for

examples of how to fill out the form right.

This website is GOLD!!! Look at it because it gives you EXACT examples of what you will need: Look at how they filled out the I-129F petition and the G-325A.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples

    4. You and your honeys passport pictures. Write your name in pencil on the back of your passport picture and on the back of the foreigners picture, write their name and " No alien number" on the back of the foreigners pix cuz they probably dot have an alien number... When your foreigner goes to take his/her passport picture , make sure HE/She tells the photographer that it is for a US PASSPORT/Immigration, so that the photographer will give the foreigner the picture in the RIGHT size. It needs to be the right size.

So when you have the picture, and you have written on the back, stick it in a clear Ziploc bag. Zip up the Ziploc bag. Print a sheet of paper that has your name on it. Put the picture in the bag. And staple the bag to the sheet of paper that has your name on it. Do it for both pictures.

    Proof of relationship:

You , the US Citizen, can include: used phone cards, copies of envelopes you have been sent through the mail, some emails, some Skype calls, pictures, your plane itinerary when you went to the foreigners country, the boarding pass, the stamps in your passport are proof, receipts of things you may have purchased while in the foreign land, the stickers they stick on your suitcase that show the destination, copies of the money receipts you have sent to the foreigner- like money gram or western union, post office receipts that show you sent something to the foreign country.

On the back of the photos, make sure you write your names, date, and where you were in the photo.

    ASSEMBLING

So you will have the manila folder and all your stuff will be 2-hole punched at the top. Don't STAPLE ANYTHING – only staple the Ziploc bag with the picture to a white sheet of paper that has your names on it. So you will only use two-3 staples.

Ok, you have your manila folder:And all your papers, including the dividers that are 2 hole punched at the top

    1. get your cover letter , the one that says what is in the folder, example above. Type this letter (US citizen) and date it and sign it. turn it over.

    2. get the divider and write i-129F on the white tab that comes with it. Turn it over.

    3. get your 1-129F petition form. Make sure it is signed and dated by the US citizen, Hole punch it and turn it over. Take your 1-129F supplement, sign and date it and turn it over

    4. get the divider and write G325A. turn it over

    5. get the US Citizen G-325 As. There should be 4 with the same exact data, all with the original signatures and all signed. All 2 hole punched at the top . Flip them over

get the US Citizen photo. Write the name in pencil on the back. Stick it in a Ziploc bag. Staple the bag (make sure you don't staple the actual picture) to a sheet of paper that has the US citizens name on it. Flip it over

get the foreigners G-325 As. There should be 4 with the same exact data, all with

the original signatures and all signed. All 2 hole punched at the top . Flip them

    over.

Get the foreigners pic. Write the name in pencil on the back and write ,"no alien number". Stick it in a Ziploc bag. Staple the bag (make sure you don't staple the actual picture) to a sheet of paper that simply has the foreigners name on it. Flip it over

    6. Get the divider and write : Letter of intent on the tab

    7. print out the letter of intent to marry which should have original signatures by both of you. This is simply a three sentence letter stating that you and the other person plan on getting married within 90 days of receiving the K1 visa. The Us citizen can type the letter and email it foreigner. Foreigner prints it, signs it, and sends it through the mail to U S citizen. Then Us citizen gets that letter and signs his/her signature too—this way two signatures will be on the same page. Hole punch this letter and flip it over.

    8. Divider – write birth certificate or passport . Flip it over on top of everything else that is flipped over.

    9. Us Citizens birth certificate. If you don't have it, you can submit a copy of the pages of your passport (copies- do NOT send the original of these document). On the copies of your passport pages, highlight the stamps which show when you visited the country of your foreign fiancé. Hole punch the copies and flip them over.

    10. get divider tab and write : Proof

    11. Now, put a sample of your phone cards on a photocopy machine and photocopy the front and back, if you have any. Hole punch, flip over.

    B. Print phone records of the times you have called your foreigner or/anf when the foreigner called/texted the US American. Hole punch, flip over

    C. Us citizen should photocopy plane itineraries, boarding passes, luggage tags. Hole punch the photocopy and flip over.

    D. US Citizen should photocopy envelopes he/she has received from foreigner. Hole punch and flip over.

    E. US citizen should photocopy money receipts he/she has sent. Hole punch and flip over.

    F. US citizen should photocopy some emails that have been sent to each other. Hole punch and flip over.

    G. US Citizen should photocopy receipts from post office showing he/she sent packages/letters to the foreigner.

    H. US Citizen should submit pictures of the couple together – at least 2. Make sure you write your names and locations on the back of the pictures..Put these pictures in an envelope or a strong Ziploc bag.Seal the bag and punch two holes in the bag so you can fasten it. Flip it over.

That's it. Now flip everything over and put it on the fasteners – the two pronged fasteners. Get a paperclip and attach your check/money order to the cover sheet in the folder. Everything is in order – make sure your pictures are not backwards. Make sure the check is the right amount.

Now, make two copies of this file—the petitioner and the beneficiary will need EXACT copies of the file. So now you, the US Citizen, will have 3 files which are IDENTICAL. Us citizen keeps one for themselves, foreigner will eventually get the other copy when the US citizen gives it to him/her, and the copy with the live check will go to USCIS.

Send it off in a waterproof enevlope--staples has them. Send it through the post offuice and get some type of signature confirmation so that you know for sure that it was received.

    Send it off and wait.

  7. I blacked out my SSN and account numbers. We had no issues.

but isnt your ssn on the 1-129 F application? u didnt block that out cuz INS had to process it..

Dont the peole in Ghana have your i-129 F form? or no?

What about the exact replica of the i-129F you gave your fiance--did you block out your SSN on those copies?

I dont like the idea of people in Africa, where the 419 scam is alilve and well, having my SSn, so id like to know exactly what forms you blocked out your SSN/account number , in terms of forms submitted in Ghana by your fiance.

  8. i think you should send as much evidence as possible. what if you get an RFE asking for more evidence-- then you would have wasted time.

yep, i did say that both parties need to sign the letter of intent. Thats deeper in the paragraph.

yes, I did talk about attaching the check--towards the end because you do not want to hole punch the check. i dont want someone to think they have to whole punch the check :)

Different countries must want different things, but I did not send in the foreigners birth certficate. As far as I have seen, that has never been a requirement in the beginning of the I-129F petition process.. the petition is just to see if you are good enough to get a petition to get a visa interview for the foreigner. When the foreigner goes to the embassy, that is when they will ask for the foreigners birth certififcate-- thats what ive been told and heard. BUt hey, again, having too much information wont hurt you, but its not required for the I-129F instructions.. but sending it wont hurt anything. If you have the foreigners birth certificate, great..if not , oh well, it wasnt needed anyway.

    3. the G 325 A- the Us Citizen will fill out 4 copies of it and sign each copy.

Write your name in pencil on the back of your passport picture and on the back of the foreigners picture, write their name and “ No alien number” on the back of the foreigners pix cuz they probably dot have an alien number...

Don’t STAPLE ANYTHING – only staple the Ziploc bag with the picture to a white sheet of paper that has your names on it.

Staple the bag (make sure you don’t staple the actual picture) to a sheet of paper that has the US citizens name on it. Flip it over

get the foreigners G-325 As. There should be 4 with the same exact data, all with

the original signatures and all signed. All 2 hole punched at the top . Flip them

    over.

Get the foreigners pic. Write the name in pencil on the back and write ,”no alien number”. Stick it in a Ziploc bag. Staple the bag (make sure you don’t staple the actual picture) to a sheet of paper that simply has the foreigners name on it.

If you don’t have it, you can submit a copy of the pages of your passport (copies- do NOT send the original of these document).

That’s it.

  10. How to make the I-129 F petition folder/package to send to Immigration: how I did it:

Ok. This is what I had: the US Citizen will be the one doing all the work at this stage. All the foreigner has to do is sign 4 sheets of paper and submit passport pix to the US Citizen, so that the US citizen can start putting the application together.

First, I bought a manila folder, the kind that opens up, like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_folder

On the cover of the folder I glued a sheet of paper that said, “ I-129F petition” . And I put our names on it.

Ok, now the inside of the folder:

First I put 2 holes at the top and I two hole punched everything, all the papers.

I fastened everything with the ACCO fasteners—

    http://www.instaoffice.com/2-piece-paper-f...992-ctn.0.7.htm

Then I had dividers, the kind you put in a Binder with the colored tabs, they are three hole punched on the sides, but I 2 hole punched the top.. these kind of dividers: http://www.jiffysupply.com/servlet/the-298/Dividers/Detail

With these dividers they come with the sheet of paper that allows me to write in what the topic is on the tab.

Ok, so now for assembling—everything I am saying applies to the US Citizen—

    A. The first thing you will put in the folder will be the I 129 Cover letter. This letter will look like the following (look below for example - edit it based on your needs. And make sure you put the right USCIS address on it—vermont, Ca, or somewhere else):

    US Citizen name,address, number

United States Department of Homeland Security

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

    Accurate address

    Date

  11. Hello everyone. My fiance is about to start collating all data needed as an attachment for the k1 visa we are about to turn in. We've already signed important documents such as letters of intent to marry, g325a, among others which he brought with him just a few days ago after he spent time with me here. We would just like to know how it would appear like before turning it in so we have the right thing done. Does anyone have a picture of what it would be like after collating the data?

Thanks very much for the help.

im about to send you a very DETAILED reply---give me like an hour, ok?

  12. I'm trying to pull everything together so that my fiance can go to his open appointment sometime in May. I have a couple of questions about the I-134...

    1. I had my bank write a letter, but it only states when my account was opened, my average collected balance for the past year and my current balance. I know they are looking for the total amount deposited, but they wouldn't do that for me. If I include bank statements from the last year, does it have to be the complete statement, or just the first page that's a summary? Should I go through and add up the total deposits myself and attach a separate letter of my own?

    2. What are tax transcripts? I've filed with TurboTax online for the last three years, can I print something from there and include a copy of my W-2's? I know I can request them for free from the IRS, but don't want to wait much longer to get this all sent off to my fiance.

    3. Can all the documents I send be copies, or do they need to be originals (W-2's, pay stubs, bank statements)

    4. I'm sure that my fiance's employer would hire him back, would there be any benefit to getting a letter from them?

    5. What do I say for question 11. Do I intend or not intend to make specific contributions to support the person....? Of course I intend, he's going to be my husband!

Look at this: I had the same question.. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...413&hl=gf97

  13. Did any of you do the Ghanaian engagement in Ghana before the interview?

If you are a ghanaian girl and you are marrying a Ghanaian man, you know that you should do the Ghanaian engagement-- where the man presents the money and gifts to the girls family , etc.

    Its called the engagement.

My question is: if you do the engagement in Ghana and submit photos from that at your interview in Ghana will that mess you up?

    Is it advisable to do?

because in Ghana, once you do the engagement, everyone in Ghana assumes that you are married. The whole engagement/knocking thing.

    Its customary to do.

But if we go through the engagment and there is no wedding certificate, then we are truly not married. Its just the engagement.

Just want to see what you guys think about that, because any Ghanaian interviewer knows that engagement is the same thing as marriage. BUt in reality it s not, because no wedding certificate will be sugned.

its more of the cultural thing, So its a matter of cultural vs. reality.

what do u guys think..ask your Ghanaian partners what they think... i dont want my guy to get to the interview and be interviewed by a Ghanaian and have the Ghanaian say," oh, if you did the engagement, then you are married." because that will be fause-- theres no certificate.

  14. yeah on the instructions, it only says that you need your taxes if you are self employed.

if you are employed, they only ask for letter from employer and the bank statement.

But trust me, i have read in this site too many times how one thing is required but then someone is RFE for not having something that was not required.

So yes, i will provide everything you said.

That term " duplicate evidence" confuses me. does that mean I need to make copies of it, or does it mean that i need to have more than one source of proof ( so like employer is 1 and bank is 2).

  15. Just to add to what reeses said, for the I-134, they ask you to prove your income. Tax returns/transcripts are the easiest way to show it. And, people are specifically asked to provide these at the interview.

You provide either the tax return (with supporting W2s and other documents) or just the tax transcripts (available for free from the IRS). We provided 3 years worth, but they only looked at my latest tax info.

If you meet the poverty guidelines on income alone, you do not need to provide any other financial information. The only other things you should add are a letter from your employer and the last 6 months of paystubs. The bank statements are needed if you are using assets to make up the shortfall in income. They are only needed for the last year.

Ok, so then i wont get a letter from my bank. i just live by myself and im making between 50-60k. If anything, maybe ill get a letter from them stating that i have been a member for like 15 years, and in the past year i deposited X amount... or maybe i wont-- i dont want to make it too confusing.

ok, tax transcripts, tax returns, paystubs, letter from employer is what i will start collecting. thanks.

  16. I was looking at some of these comments and the papers that are required for Ghana.

How come one has to fill out the DS 156(which is the non immigrant visa application) and the DS 230 application which is the Immigrant Visa. Arent they like 2 different things? Why does Ghana want a non immigrant and an immigrant form.?

    That’s confusing..

How many copies of the Ds156 and the 156K are needed? Im asking because in the directions it says that it should be completed in duplicate. So how many copies should be filled out of each form?

I also read that the 230 should not be signed until you get to the embassy. The same applies to the 156 as well right? They have that line that says “ do not sign below this line”

Do you have to submit another G325 when you go for the interview? Someone posted that it was a form you have to take.

What is FC 029 – i saw it listed on someones page..

Taxes: is it better to do the tax transcript or BOTH: tax transcript and actual copy of taxes that were completed. Should i start asking for it now--how long does it take and what the site to get it.

What in the world does the embassy do with all this info? Doesn’t it make you nervous that some strangers have all your info? And people wonder why identity theft is occurring—this is just too much info, I think, personally.

There is so much data-- yikes,... didnt someone also say that we need to submit a new letter of itent to marry for the interview-- im pretty sure i read that somewhere last week.

I might go to Gh this summer, so if I go I want to have EVERYTHING filled out on my part so that i know when the interview day rolls around, he will be good to good.

Do u think its a good idea to buy a tix around the interview data so that the embassy wont beat around the bush with the interview-- or will they not care that you have a tix, on one of these forms ,like the supplemental, i saw a part that said," do you have any special arrangements, like a ticket, if so, attach a copy of itinerary, plane, etc."

Can the people who have recently gone to the Ghana embassy, or about to go in the following months, make sure they tell us EXACTLY what forms you took with you? I read somewhere that like 6-7 forms were needed? Do they really need all those forms. Or were all those forms suggested because you never know what wil be asked for.
