hey all....just wanted to say the kids SSN cards came today....exceeded my expectations for sure!!

glad everyone is moving in the posiy direction it seems....finally got my kids home...i can finally breathe now. now waiting on gc and ssn and can be DONE!!!

and montreal embassy won't respond to emails requesting visa pick ups... call the lachine location around 630pm and see if they have it. I believe they close at 8pm

had interview wed oct 9 and lachine got it friday oct 11 @ 6pm....

if u bring keys or cigarettes....they will hold them at the secuirty desk and give u a coupon to get them back when u go to leave. the letter says an appt time, but its really first come first serve.

So interview went well on Wednesday with an approval.... decided to stay in Montreal and have the passports sent to the Montreal location......I had really thought I would get them by today...Unfortunately I am still without them

Unrealistic expectation? Perhaps.

The loomis system doesn't work weekends and Monday is holiday in Canada.....so I'm stuck in Canada until maybe Tuesday?

Or leave the kids here, just to go back home and return to canada (8 hour drive each way) next weekend assuming the kids will have their passports by then....

Just stressing here because I really thought I would have them by today at least and I dont.

I am really kicking myself in the butt for not asking the Interviewer about the possibility of picking them up at the embassy....

anyone have any encouraging words or ideas(past experiences) with what to do / whom it call to get this handled faster??

So its 2 days after approval and still no visa! I'm really upset now. ITs friday, Pretty sure Loomis/DHL/CANPAR whomever doesnt work weekends...and Monday is a HOLIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes you can. when you fill out the ds-260 you will need it though.

got the approval this morning!!! didnt even speak to my kids...actually didnt ask me anything other than I was their mother

got the approval this morning. it was simple and out at 9am. they didnt even speak to my kids. lol. I just gave all asked for documents, got my left four fingers finger printed and the lady said she approved the visas.

now im just papatiently waiting to see the waybill # and we will be on our way home

Not sure about parking, I walked there. Didn't see any parking lots super close though.

Big day tomorrow (Acutally starts today at 5pm....driving from Pittsburgh area to Montreal)....should get there around 5am

i selected that and didnt get a ssn. I went to my local SS building and got it in person (they printed a form with the number on it) actual card arrives a week later.

I stayed at Travelodge too (2010) - close (10 min walk)...room small, shower REAL small....I hated it. And parking was expensive. They dont have enough parking for the # of rooms they have, so if you cant get in their garage, they tell you to park down the street. The breakfast is great there, and they have a currency exchange in the hotel. Its real close to everything.

It's called "removal of conditions" not "adjustment" but if the parent has IR1 status the children will have IR2 status and 10 year cards.

OH great! Thank you! I def have the IR1 ....so my kids will get 10 year...thats great news!

you know i dont know?? i assumed we would have to do Adjustment in 2 years but maybe not since their father already has his 10 year?? i hadnt even questioned it yet

I'm surprised the border officer knew that. LOL... But anyways....its all about our own personal situation...

CR-1 Visa is when u marry and then apply for the visa. The waiting timeframe I'v been seeing (and been through twice now) is anywhere from 6-12 months ---really depending on how quick you send in your forms/payments. With this you can still cross the border to visit , however the border guard can deny you. It is suggested to bring proof of ties to canada - showing that you will be going back and you wont be staying in USA (until u get your visa that is)

The Fiance Visa K-1 from what i hear is around the same timeframe, expect u dont marry until after your interview.....Not certain about travelling, but im sure its similar to CR-1.

and just FYI.....I am from Ontario and moved to PA....I was driving my Canadian (ontario plated car and Ontario Drivers license) and was pulled over for speeding....The officer told me that they could Hold me in custody until I was able to pay the fine...not sure how truthful that is...but thought it was worth mentioning
