  1. Ok so I emailed the embassy the day of my husbands interview Jan 21 and asked specifically what they needed from us and explained that he was unclear exactly what it was she was asking for us to send in... ( in the mean time i have already sent him the marriage paper of my last marriage and he has DHL today the divorce papers, the marriage papers and an explaination of seperation , divorce and marriage dates...)

So no answer from embassy yesterday so i sent a second email yesterday..... today i get a response to my first email that says simply thank you for your email madame, please be advised the case is still pending mandatory administrative processing .... lol that was all, no explaination of what she needed, nothing ,,, just that... so now what? Do they ever send out any email that says anything other than this on cases? I have emailed them back thank you for the response but my question was what are they needing from us. I know the status of the case and am not asking for the status. I need to know what papers they need sent to them to further process this case.

I know how you feel, I have had a million of the" pending administrative processing" and no real response from a human being. We are still waiting for our visa even though it was approved on 7 Dec 09. If you have the name of the person you talked to you may want to address your next e-mail with a "Please forward to........." You also might have to call them, although that is a chore as well since they hardly ever pick up the phone. Wish I could give you a more positive response. Dont give up hope and wishing you a speedy process.

  2. Hey guys,

In 3 hours and counting, my husband will be at the embassy trying to get his interview over and done with. I would highly appreciate any good thoughts, karma, vibes, and prayers that you may have to send our way. I am pretty nervous and trying not to be too happy or too sad....expecting the worst and hoping for the best, so to speak....

I talked to another immigration attorney today, who is one of my best friend's friends and did her own case with her hubby and she has reassured me that things are fine for me. My hubby has printed out over 100+ pages of proof, from my plane tickets/itineraries/ticket stubs, mutual bus tickets of ours from this past spring, emails, a few chat logs, some affidavits, some copies of essential documents that we already sent, a letter from me about my crappy T-mobile situation and how that is why I don't have any phone records from 2006-2008, pictures (he said 97 of them), etc.

My main worry, after talking to this immigration attorney, is that hubby doesn't have any certified copies of our marriage certificate....I did email him the scanned copy of the translated and notarized copy that I have, but since I gave everything to NVC and USCIS already, I am hoping that they won't give him any ####### for this? That hypothetically, they'd have everything with them already?

Argh...am I just psyching myself out too much?

I feel that we've done all we can at this point, the rest is up to the interviewer and God, I suppose.

    Thanks....

    Enraptured :(

    Congratulations :P

  3. I just called NVC, to check on our package, and I think I have made a huge mistake.

Sort of difficult to explain.. My SO was born on October 3, but his birth was not registered until December 3.. so shows December 3 as his date of birth. We listed December 3 on all the papers as this is what his birth certificate shows.

When I called NVC I forgot and said the date of birth was October. They told me I had the wrong birth date and when I realized what I had done, and tried to explain the situation, the person on the phone told me that if the date of birth is wrong I need to send a corrected copy of his birth certicate and ask to have it changed.

All records in Turkey show 12/3... He won't be able to get one with 10/3.. and now I am wondering if they have made a note of this in their file and it is really going to screw us up!!!!

I am panicking a little bit!

Jenn, we had an issue almost like yours. My husband was born in Kuwait but his Birth Certificate was issued in Egypt. NVC sent us request for additional evidence to get a birth certificate from Kuwait which was not possible. There was however a statment from the hospital where my husband was born that certified the birth. Maybe if you wrote the hospital they could issue a statement for you in regards to the dates of birth.

  4. Well today was the final step in the long immigration process. I had my oath ceremony scheduled at 9.30am in the US district Courthouse in Fort Worth Texas. I knew that traffic would be bad so we (husband and 4mth old daughter) left well in time. Got to the courthouse and theres a sign saying no recording devices. Back to the car I trot (in my heels) and deposit the camera and cell. Back again to the courthouse I trot and the guard asks if I have a cell. I say no and that I left it back in the car with my camera. He tells me I should have my camera to take pictures. I trot back to the car and retrieve the camera. By this time thanks to the wicked wind blowing I realized there was no point at all in getting up early to straighten my hair which now resembled a complete fuzz ball or cousin IT from the Addams family  .

Anyhow back to being on-topic. We are told to go to a jury holding room and an immigration officer tells us we have 73 people from 27 countries represented and goes off into a speech about how well we have done to get to this point and be citizens. Our greencards are collected along with the oath ceremony letter. two people were not allowed to do their oath. One travelled outside of the US for an extended period of time and another had lost her GC. We are also given a little book on the constitution of the United States and the words to the Oath and a history of the US book. In between all that I take to my daughter to the restroom (totally unfriendly for babies!) and change her diaper in her car seat while kneeling on the floor. My daughter was also talking up a storm and wanted to ensure that she was heard over the immigration officer  . We kept her entertained but she was very chatty. The officer also tells us that we are US citizens now and have voting rights and that we have all the rights as everyone else and dont have to carry a greencard anymore, just our drivers licence. She also mentioned that as citizens we can now petition our relatives and encouraged us to do this. She was very much on our side encouraging us to use our rights as citizens, which was a nice change as usually when I have spoke to immigration officers they make you feel like you are inferior.

That all takes about an hour and my husband had to then leave to go to work unfortunately (he works in a hospital ER). I make friends with a girl called Mia from Mexico who is super nice. We then all go up to the courtroom, are given a US flag and each country is read out and we stood to be applauded fr representing our country. Judge McBryde comes in and says ALL RISE (that was cool cos it was the first time I had ever been in a US court, so it was very official).

He tells us congratulations and how its a great honor to be conducting the ceremony and its a nicer part of his job. All the family members sit behind the gate by the way and the aliens (although not very alienish now!) sit in the jury box and thereabouts. We place our right hand in the air and say the oath of allegiance, followed by the pledge of allegiance with our hand on heart.

After that he says that court is adjourned and leaves and then the certs are handed out (very informally as they just called the names - didn't get mine right of course- and you had to raise your hand and they brought it to you.

We were then allowed to take photos and we did that then outside we were given a voting form to fill in/mail in.

My daughter was a wee gem as she was so darn good and fell asleep in the courtroom, which was awesome as she had to be with me in the jury box. I was told if she cried, I would have to take her out, but thankfully she was good (which she normally is).

Finally its all over and I am very grateful to those of you on VJ who have helped me in this journey over the years. Its definitely worth it to get to this point and be a citizen of a great and powerful country as the United States.

For those of you that are waiting to get to this stage, have faith, work hard and never lose sight of that end point.

I'll be back to petition my parents in a few years, as they plan to move here having just bought a house here but until then, toodle-pip and good luck to each of you :)

Congratulations, I became a citizen in 1985 and are now waiting for my Egyptian husband to get his visa.

  5. I have noticed that the German community has their own thread with many replies that would take me years to read (because it's in German). How about those of us whom are married to a German man/woman?

Anything you would like to talk about or get advice on? I know from time to time I would like to air some concerns/comments.

So lets make this the Married to a German thread where all of the Americans whom are married to Germans can come and discuss our thoughts and issues.

    Hi ZoSo,

I am of German decent who just married an Egyptian. Been living in the USA for a while but never lost my mother tongue. So, if I can help anyone with translations etc, feel free to get in touch with me.

  6. Okay, I finally got approved, its NVC time, who is with me in August with NVC??? Let make this part of our immigration journey smoother then USCIS.

    Beth

We are in NVC for August also, hoping for a smooth quick journey. Wishing everyone the same :P:P

Its about time Gabs you joined us!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Loll, yes I am behind the power curb as always. As for calling NVC, I am planning on calling as many times a day as I can remember to.

  7. Just wonder any one had case return to USCIS in US and win/ or have visa appoved/ pink slip ? My case has return to state on April 17 2009 from HCM, I do not know when it will be here to USCIS, I really dont know what to do now, any one please give advice. Thanks

    Desparate man :help:

I recently had my case returned. USCIS recvd it in a little under a month. Hopefully they will review quickly but in reading all the entries of others' it does not sound likely. Read some of the other threads and you can get more info about how to handle. Contact your congressman/senator, send for the consulate notes to see exactly why they sent your case back - thru FOIA. I also contacted the Ombudsman. Still waiting as USCIS just received my case back on Friday 5/22/09. Wish you luck...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our I-129 was returned to USCIS in April 08 and we still have not heard anything on it nore do we know the reason why it was returned. I wrote to state department, ombudsman, congressman even to President Bush last year and nothing happened. Numerous calls to USCIS were asnwered with it could take up to 2 years for a returned petition. We since got married and filed I-130 end of March. So we are startign the waiting game all over again. We have been in the system since Jan 07. I pray this willnot happen to you and I wish you all the best of luck in getting everything cleared up.

  8. Februay & March filers CSC , feel like your lost on uncharted island? ,Your ship mates resqued and your left behind .

Well here is a new island , we can get thru this together. Our day will come soon. Keep faith.

Some filers had RFE, and still no approvals, some have had petitions on a desk for a few weeks, and no approvals.

So lets survive this island together, and keep each other company.

Please register me as one of the "Lost Ones" Loll. Fiance visa was filed in Jan 07, it is sitting at USCIS for adjudication since April 08. :crying: We finally got married last month and now have filed I-130, NOA1 as of 31 March 09. I have tried to cancell the fiance visa 2 times allready but it is still listed as active.

  9. Any March filers, I just sent our I-130 petition out!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im soooooo happy!!! Taken us 8 months to re-file, but we did it!!!!!!

Good luck all waiting for their loved ones to join them.

    Paris Heart

    Paris Heart,

We are also March filers, our I-130 petition will be going out tomorrow, 23 March 09. It has taken us 3 years to finally get to this point since our fiance visa (filed in Jan 07) was never finalized by USCIS and is still in limbo. I am also cancelling that as of tomorrow.

We hope and pray for all of you and us that we are approved quickly. :star:

  10. Hey Everyone,

I received my NOA1 for both the I-130 and the K3 in Mid July and Mid Aug of 08 and still have not heard anything from VSC. Anyone else having a problem?

Also how do you find out if your application has been "touched"? When I check status on line it just says it is pending and has no further info.

    Thanks,

    Janet

    MrsG

I had applied for a fiance visa in Jan 07, petition was approved in May 07, fiance had his interview at Cario US Embassy in Aug 07. File was returned to USCIS (California Center) from Cairo in April 08 and no word from them since then except for: your file is beign reviewed in time, it could take 24 months. I got congressman involved and even the State Department Ombudsman for USCIS. Finally had enough and went to Egypt last month, got married and are starting new I-130 and K 3 as soon as possible.
