  1. Hi,

I imagine this question has already been asked, but after some looking around I have not found and answer. So I'll apologize in advance if I annoy anyone by a repeat questions.

Q: Would it be unwise if I delay submitting an AOS on my wife's K3 visa so that she get the 10yr card instead of the 2 yr conditional one?

So some specifics: My wife's K3 just got approved and she should be in country soon. She does not plan on working in the immediate future, and is studying independently for a degree program that she's figured out. We were married on 25 March 2008, so it'll already have been 13 months since our marriage if she gets here this month. My understanding is that a K3 is good for 2 years, so I was thinking maybe if I waited till Jan '10 or something like that, then she would get her green card after our second anniversary. I'm curious if anyone has attempted this in the past, and I would just appreciate any advice for/against doing this.

    Thanks!

  2. Salaam,

My wife's visa was approved today. Her interview was short but she was at the embassy for a while just waiting for her turn, and also they were apparently having issues with the fingerprinting machine. The interview was only 2 minutes. All they asked was how we met, if we were related (we are distant cousins), and really not much else. They didn't even look at pictures or anything else that my wife had taken. In fact, my wife thinks she saw a document with "approved" written on it even before her interview, so that was weird. Anyways, I just hope she will get her passport soon (they said 10 days). We have a flight scheduled, hopefully won't have to move it back. I'll post more details once I get them all.

Thanks everyone for your help and support!

  3. Thank you everyone for all the Mubaraks, We highly appriciate it.

Today, We simply wanted to share that we recieved the physical passport with the visa.

We hope you all get your's soon.

We have recieved our Visa, however; we aren't going anwhere, we will be here on the blog to stay through your journeys. May Allah make your's a smooth journey too. (Ameen)

    Shan.

Congrats on getting the passport...my fiancee had her interview last friday and is still waiting on her passport. she is starting to freak out (actually she has never stopped freaking out since we applied back in august) that something is wrong. we still have time as im flying over to karachi next week to spend some time with her family before her and i return. anyone have any idea as to why there would be a holdup in getting her passport back if they told her that she was approved at her interview??

I wouldn't be surprised knowing it's Islamabad! Also, sometimes the AmEx people just don't call (I know my wife kept waiting for her interview letter, and they were just not calling and she finally called and turned out they had had it for a few days). I hope she'll get it soon :-)

  4. hello everyone..

the thing that i was dreading the most happened:((((((( i feel soo down and depressed right now ..well my husband had his interview today and was given the green slip and was told that he was being put on administrative processing...well i just dont know what could be the reason?? im just getting so fed up with this whole thing...can someone please tell me is there is anything that i could do ...i know everyone is going to say JUST WAIT...but im getting very impatient...had my first baby without my husband...:( and was hoping that he'd make it soon with us...but i guess not..:( someone please tell me what can i do:(

I'm sorry to hear that, but unfortunately pretty much all the males get put on AP from Islamabad and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. However, on a positive note, it appears some of the males are clearing AP much faster in recent months, but most will say the average is still around 6 months. Are you able to go stay with him while his visa is being processed?

  5. I don't understand why people are being so aggressive in their responses to the OP, and many comments are uncalled for. Let him do what he's trying to do, if he feels it's right, then who are we to judge it. You can share your opinion, and then people can make up their own minds on how things should work. And if it's so wrong, then maybe an administrator should warn him to stop posting, but other users have no right to tell him to shut up. I suffered through VSC for approval for over 8 months for a K3, and I know it's timeline is different then a K1, but I can see how it can be frustrating. And now I have no idea how long we'll have to wait with the embassy. Even some of the I-130s are getting approved so fast, like the 13 day approval following NOA1 someone posted about recently. I mean, it's awesome for them, but gosh darn it, it's just not fair. I know the life's not fair, but that doesn't mean we should bend over and take it.

It's easier to say "chill out" when you aren't the one having to wait. Actually it's kind of offensive. I mean, saying "I can understand all of this can be so frustrating, but we don't always know all the factors. Try and be patient, try not to let it consume your life, and hopefully things will work out" would convey the same message as chill out and not be offensive.

The guy who responded by saying "has your wife seen that side of your character" or something, gosh, that's just in really mean spirit...

  6. i'm worried!!! I still do not have my noa1!!!!

we sent our i130 last March 7.

the uscis received the petition last march 13.

payment was deducted last march 16.

    BUT still no NOA1.

I was able to check my online status due to some help with friends from here.

All I've seen there was received I130 on March 13. And that it went to CSC.

Question: What do I need the NOA1 for?

Would I need it to get my NOA2? Do i have to file anything to get my NOA2?

I'm confused. Everybody who file at the same week as I did got their NOA1 already. Could it have gotten lost or something? :crying:

This is only for my experiance .. but well, you really only need to NOA1 if you file for K3, otherwise I haven't used the NOA1 for anything else. You can try contact USCIS, but they'll tell you that they will send out another copy only if you don't get it within 30 days. So unfortunately, I think, you just have to wait for a bit longer and hopefully it'll just show up or you can contact USCIS for help.

  7. Congrats to Shan, and b4byd09, it sounds like your wife's visa will inshallah get approved as soon as you get the documents in..

Man, my wife's interview for K3 is in 2 weeks, and while it seems positive as at least seemingly not everyone is getting stuck in AP, I'm just freaking out and trying not to be pessimistic, and trying to think good thoughts. Times moving too freaking slowly.

Shan Sohail congrates on ur visa.

Rehan thank you very much for offering help, I think everything is going to be ok. Actually the certificate she got from Kohat, isn't the city that deal with too much of visa documents. That is why they gave her a simple letter with someone signature on it. Don't know how long it's going to take from Lahore but I have tons of family in Kohat, I do have people here and there. So they will get it done within hours.

I am sure that the process is over, but again the embassy is so picky about things. I got my own visa in 11 years (1990-2001). Thanks to ISB embassy.

    You welcome!!

  8. congrats to both of you..

Question for K3 people. Has anyone been able to talk to someone in Islamabad embassy. Been trying for the past 2 days and i get the busy message. I have also emailed them and no response. My packet left NVC on the 11th and was recieved by the embassy on the 17th and the wife hasn't received it yet so trying to inquire about that.

It's difficult, you just have to keep trying. Becomes easier to talk to someone around 2:00pm Pakistan time

  9. Hey fahadj & others, congrats on the interview date..

Question.. how long does it take for consulate to mail out the packet 3.5? Wife is Karachi.

Thanks and good luck to all

Thanks Irfan. Our case was supposedly transferred to Islamabad on 12 Jan, and we got the packet 3.5 on 24 Jan. So I guess about 2-3 weeks?

You can always call them during their hours, although it's a pain to get through

  10. Congrates browneyedgirl on ur visa. I am so happy for u. It's my baby love's medical tomorrow and then she has an interview on march 30th. I will be going to pakistan in 2 weeks. I hope she gets the visa in hand, so both of us can travel back to US. I pray for everyone out there away from their loved ones. Khuda kare sub ki mushkilein aasan ho jayen. Ameen.

  11. Hi Everyone

Called DOS today.. my bi-weelkly ritual. When I call them, the only response I have ever gotten from them is that our case is pending administative processing. They will never tell me anything else. Today I asked her... We have been through two home visits, three requests for more information, and 8 months of waiting since his interview ... So just what are we waiting on now? She told me that we are waiting on the name check to clear. For the first time in calling DOS, I truly feel I got an honest response from someone. ;)

    peace

    ~kris
