  1. Hello all. I need help. My wife and I have finally received approval notice for both k3 and cr1. We have read over and over again that it much more beneficial to drop the k3. Our problem is, I am schedule to take an exam in the US which the date would expire if I cancel k3 and waited for cr1. My question is what happens to the cr1 interview f i go with k3. I mean can i accept the k3 and later on go back to consulate for cr1. I have read somewhere that few people go back to consulate..... I am trying to avoid AOS..sounds so complicated.Any information that will clarify this matter is highly appreciated...thanks

I am the one who got K3 visa this march and then came back to my country for my CR-1 visa- and it wasnt complicated, and at my second interview the consul wasnt surprised that i came back to get my CR-1. Good luck!!!

  2. I have a question to those who ever traveled to the USA with K3 visa and then came back to the local consulate to recieve his CR-1 visa

I got my K3 visa March 26th, and my documents for CR-1 visa arrived to the embassy on March 27th ( what a pitty- only one day late).

Can I have any problems in getting my CR-1 visa after I come back from the US by K3 visa? Can the consul start administrative check at the second interview? Thanks to all who can share own experience .

  6. we called NVC and they assign us an Interview date for 4th May. We were thinking that they will assign only on second week.

Everyone call NVC don't wait for Second week of April.

    Arun :wow:

    Congrats! That's great news.

Congratulate you Arun+Catie! After I read your post I decided to call to the NVC( if you remember my case is completed like yours on march 11th).And guess what??????? yes now I know the date of my interview- 19th May- of course it is good new, but in 2 days will be my K3 visa interview, and as lady from the NVC told me documents wont be in the embassy by this date (too close date), so now can anyone give me advice? If I come to my interview on March 26th and ask the consul to postpone my interview for the next week after they recieve my documents for CR-1 visa..........I can show him plane tickets of my husband who is flying to US to meet me on april 4th and invitation to the wedding of his brother on april 18th.So nervouse now!!!!!!!!!

  7. We already set up an appointment for K3 which was 4 weeks from this date. Our CR1 was completed today as according to NVC operator. Are they going to send the CR1 papers after few days to Manila? The operator told husbie that they would not send it unless the CR1 interview was already scheduled. Is this true? He also told my husbie to call DOS and explain the situation.. Is that the right move?

We are hoping to flip K3 to CR1... Any helpful information would be appreciated.

    Thanks..

The same happened to me, my K3 interview is scheduled on march 26th and my CR-1 case is completed on March 11th.And the NVC said my documents cant be sent untill they schedule CR-1 interview the second week of April, so I decided to go for K3 visa interview- recieve my K3 visa- fly to the USA, meet my husband and then come back to Russia and pass one more CR-1 interview. In the embassy they told me I can do so.Some people gave me advice to postpone my K3 interview, but I decided not to.Hope my answer helped you.

  8. I am a newbie here at this forum, but I have just found answer at my question in K3 guideline

"If the I-130 is approved and the applicant has not applied for AOS yet, they may return to their country and once issued a CR-1 or IR-1 Visa, return to the US as a permanent resident."

I will do so.Thanks everyone who answered all my questions.Maybe my experiance will help someone. Good luck in your waiting.

  9. haha- thanks for smart! So after I come back to Moscow and recieve my CR- visa I will have two visas in my passport? And should i do one more medical examination before Cr- interview?I still cant believe I wont have any problems coming back to Russia.(yes sometimes i act dumby).By the way my honey moon was in Boracay- Philippines- I fall in love with this country and people.Mabuhay!!!!!! :D

Medical requirement for K3 and CR1 are different, u need to do an another medical for cr1

Hmmmmmmmmmm, but my last medical examination was march 5th 2009, and I have contraindications for vaccinations, do you think by june it will get old( I mean results of my medical exam?)So I will have to do one more X-ray and other researches again, less than in 6 monthes after first exam?I know maybe it is too ealry think of it now but I wanna be ready for this.

  11. Listen guys today I recieved the answer to my letter I sent to the Moscow embassy,I asked them can i get my K3 visa ( I will have interview on March 26th) and then come back to Moscow later and recieve my CR-1 visa( my case completed on March 11th, but didnt get on the schedule list for the next month).

And the embassy answered- that yes I can get K3 visa and then come back to Moscow because it is multivisa. Is it true? I didnt know that with K3 visa I can travel without travel document( I-131). Please explaine me who knows about it.Thanks for all answers from you (F)

That's the way the K3 was supposed to operate when it took a long time for CRs. Take the K3 interview then go to the US and reunite with family and then when the CR-1 interview came up a year or so later you would go back and get the CR-1.

CRs have speeded WAY up now tho.

Thak you very much- I really didnt expect that with K3 visa I can come back to Russia and recieve my Cr-1, I thought I will have to start AOS .Actually the interview for Cr-1 visa will be in june 2009( I think so because my case completed and they said in NVC that next second week of April my case will be scheduled for the interview). My husband works abroad and can come home only in April- thats why I want come and see him and then return back to Russia and finally recieve this CR.Now should I do anything with documents when I arrive with K3 visa to the USA?

  12. Today I recieved answer- letter from the american embassy in moscow. I asked them if I can recieve K3 visa and then come back to Moscow later and recieve my CR-1 visa. And they answered this [/color]Yes you can, because K3 visa is multivisa and you can travel with it.

Does it mean that i dont need to start AOS when I come to the USA with K3 visa and wait for this travel document(I-131)?Please explain me

  14. 2 options, interview for the K-3, and simply wait for them to schedule CR-1 interview, and then interview again for the CR-1.

Or get the K-3 rescheduled for a later date, if the CR-1 arrives at the consulate before that date, they will drop the K-3 in favor of the CR-1.

CR-1 is the better visa, you already spent the $470 to NVC, so save yourself another $1010 to adjust from a K-3 and go for the CR-1

Thanks for your ideas, but my problem is that I have to be in US on april 5th, so I cant change my plans( too long story). As I understood- NVC wont send my documents to the embassy untill they shedule my interview, if they did send them now- then I could have a chance to recieve CR-1 visa instead of K3.I have one more question, is it true that with CR-1 visa I will have temporary greencard and if I pass this Adjustment of status(AOS)for K3 visa I will have permanent greencard?

  15. I do not know what to do - please if you know anything about it, please read.

On March 26, 2009, I will have my K3 visa interview. On March 11, 2009, my CR-1 visa was completed, but unfortunately it did not get on the list of the interviews and will go on the list for the next month - it means I have to wait 4 more weeks until they schedule my interview.

Today I called to the NVC to ask them if they can send my documents to Moscow embassy by the date of my K3 visa interview (14 days left only), the lady said SORRY and they can not do this and I should wait.

But I can not stand it, and I have sent letter to the embassy asking them to help me with this problem.(maybe they will answer me on Tuesday).

Is it possible to get K3 visa interview on March 26th, and then come back to Moscow to receive my CR-1 visa? I can not reschedule my interview because on April 4, 2009 my husband will come to the US to meet me (he works abroad and will have his vacation).

What do you think: can American embassy inquire about my CR-1 documents to NVC if I ask them about it in my letter (yes, sounds silly but I still think people in the embassy can be compassionate)

  16. Can anyone explain me how long does it take to send documents ( for CR visa)from the NVC to the embassy( for example I am from Moscow), my CASE COMPLETE march 11th, and my K3 interview will be on march 26th, so I have only 14 days left, what do you think- is it possible that documents will come to Moscow by this date???????????????If anyone had the same experiance- please answer me, really nervouse about this 14 days left. Thanks to all who can answer.
