  1. Hi everyone!

My husband and I are preparing to file the papers soon and i just want to clarify something. I just had a name change because of the marriage and will it be ok if I use my new signature for the papers? Or should i continue using my old one? (from my maiden name)

I don't want USCIS to think its a different person because its a new signature and it doesn't match the one in my passport. What do you think of this?

    Thank u guys!

  2. Thanks for the replies :)

My question still is, since I am currently unemployed do I not fill out question 7? It asks for a name and address of an employer...which I don't currently have. Do I just include paperwork with the form and leave those blank?

This would be my suggestion. Just be truthful and if you want to supplement it with a supporting letter about your contract letter was over and actively looking for employment. And plus you are using a co-sponsor. As long as you meet the requirements you, I do not foresee a big problem.

Addition: if your fiance has a professional background, this somewhat helps because they will also put that into consideration.

 Good luck with your visa journey...

  3. Hey gals, my finacee will be living here with me in Texas when she arrives from Cebu. I was wondering how all of you Filipinas that live in Texas like it.

Does the weather seem ok, have you spent a brutal Texas summer here yet? We don't really get much snow, and the winters are generally mild, so you may not feel too cold here. Tank tops and flip flops are the norm here for 9 months out of the year.

We have beaches here, not as nice as PI, but beaches none the less. We have many lakes and rivers, and because the weather is so warm here there is alot of water-sports to get involved in, (wakeboard, wakeskate, ski, swim, boating, etc.).

There are lot's of good fishing spots, so we have a good variety of fresh seafood.

The Spanish influence can be seen and felt through town's names, the food, people's last names, etc.

There are lot's of Hispanics here, so the black hair/eyes, and brown skin doesn't stand out at all.

All in all i think Texas is a great cross-over from the PI.....am i right ladies?

    Salamat Yall!

Kamusta? :) When I first arrived here in Austin, the first major thing I had to get adjusted to was the weather! I have very thin skin so I get cold easily. (BRRRRRR!!! ) My fiance had to buy me lots of warm clothes so I won't get cold. ^_^ But I think I'm used to the cold weather by now. ;)

My fiancee will be here early Jan. in Houston. She has been in Texas last year in Houston and Austin. She likes the weather here but I'm sure she will not be too fond of the winters. HAHA. Props to AUSTIN, great place to visit and 6th street is always fun.

  4. I shipped a TV and some goodies at a value of 290 dollars VIA UPS and payed a fortune to ship it. Customs are charging a whopping 5,191 pesos for the package to be released. How can they justify this? Their customs fee is 15% of the item. That means they deemed the package to be worth over a thousan dollars. I outta be disputing this with UPS. I payed extra for guarenteed-money back service.

Everyone involved in the shipping business in the PH are crooks. No question about it.

Sorry to hear about that. Next time don't send any electronics because you will get taxed. Alter your description next time maybe you'll skip the tax part.

  5. UPDATE: Visa approved 12-08-09. 7:00 am appt.

Just wanted to say short update.

    Overall experience: Excellent

The wait was not too long. The process took about 2 hours from beginning to end. Pre-screener and CO was very nice. We prayed long and hard for this part to not to be a horrible experience like the other stories have read here on VJ.

A bonus, I met a couple VJers in the waiting area (precious_stone and fransha). Thanks for the company and the use of your cell.

Thank you all the people that have help us thru this process. I do appreciate your all.

Advice to the people who are still waiting, praying helps and it works in mysterious ways.

Good Luck to all... God Bless to all and Merry Christmas!!! :star:

  6. Hello all, I'm currently going through the I-134 form to support my fiance. I just recently finished my job in Japan and will be moving back to the States within 2 weeks.

Since I am in between jobs right now, I had to have my mother be a co-sponsor for the immigrant visa. My question is (since these forms are horribly confusing sometimes) is since I have a co-sponsor, what exactly do I fill out for my sponsorship form? I technically have no job right now, but I have pay stubs, a written letter from my former company and manager, valid tax return from last year (US tax return) and I still have a valid bank account (although the funds in it are fairly low since I've been living in Japan).

I'm not sure what information to provide for me since I'm in between jobs (but getting a new one shouldn't be hard work for what I'm looking for)

Will my mother have to also fill out both I-864 and I-134? I've been reading the instructions but even after a couple of times it all seems Greek to me in what I'm looking for  . Any help would be great...I've searched for answers but can't find anything specific to my issue.

    Thanks in advance.

    Shea

As far as the forms, I believe it is I-864 will be needed on the AOS (once in the US). And I-134 is for the USEM interview.

  7. Hi. Thanks for the reply. We're done with everything. It's just that in other countries i read that they have something to mail back the embassy after receiving the Packet 3. I dunno if the same thing goes in the Philippines.

Thanks Phil! we don't have to worry about anything. we're good to go!!!

All of the packet 3 items are now downloaded. Its unlikely you will get more than the email...

See the lists of things needed here on VJ.

You need to have your tax information for the past 3 years. Copies of your 1040's and W2's, 1099's...

Lots of photos, chat logs, intent to marry letters from both of you, your affidavit of support (I-134), and your girl needs to have submitted her application (the I-156) at the local BDO bank office. ( Costs about $132 USD )

    Also the I-157 and I-156K

There are a bunch more things but thats all I can think of off the top of my head...

If you have only a week left before your interview you best get cracking on these!!

Do you have the medical completed???

    -Phil

hi guys! i would like to know if its ok that i haven't gotten any packet 3 from the USEM? Its been almost a month since

I have scheduled my interview date and its next week already. The lady that I've talked to told me to check the USEM website for the things that I need to do and bring during the interview. They sent me an email confirming my interview date and i just printed it.

I'm just curious if there's anything in Packet 3 that I need to send back to USEM before the interview? or is it just a checklist of what I need to bring on my interview?

Thank u.. Your replies would be very much appreciated. God bless

  9. hey guys! My interview is already soon and i would like to know if the form 1040 (income tax return) should be in the original form or a copy would do?

    Thanks! God bless

Easiest is to use the transcripts you can order from the IRS for free. If using the form 1040 a copy is ok BUT I believe you must sign it, no copies of the signature. Print a copy and then sign in blue/black ink.

What if there is already a signature on the original? obviously, the copy would have a signature also. Should i put another signature beside the copied one? m sorry this sounds dumb but I am at a lost here.

    Thanks u guys!

  10. A copy of the tax return kept by the filer and the supporting documents (w-2, pay stubs, etc) is fine. (Am just guessing this is in reference to an affidavit of support.)

yes, its for the I-134 supporting docs.. so, a copy is good right? i hope they won't ask for the original..

    Thanks!!

  12. Thank You! really ! God bless on your journey..

Hi there, my fiance was a waiter when he filed the I-134 and didn't meet the 125% poverty line so we were co-sponsored by his father. I was questioned about it during the interview but since i still ended up getting the visa, i can personally say that having a co-sponsor for a K1 is acceptable. USEM Manila by the way.
  13. hello! Does anyone know if it is true that USEM does not allow co-sponsors for K1 applications?

It surely be a great help! Thanks!

Petitioners in fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa cases are generally expected to provide the adequacy of their own financial resources to ensure that an alien, after admission into the United States, will not become primarily dependent on the US Government for subsistence. While our immigration law does not disallow joint sponsorships for K nonimmigrant visa applicants, the mere submission of an I-134 Affidavit of Support from joint sponsors is not sufficient to establish that the alien is not likely to become a public charge. Accordingly, we make a thorough evaluation of other factors, such as the sponsor’s motives in submitting the Form I-134, the sponsor’s relationship to the applicant or petitioner, the length of time the sponsor and applicant have known each other, etc. An I-134 Affidavit of Support submitted by a casual friend or distant relative who has little or no personal knowledge of the applicant has limited value. Unlike the I-864 filed by joint sponsors in immigrant visa cases, the I-134 is not legally binding and imposes no legal obligation on the joint sponsor to make good on his or her promises. Please be assured that we look at the totality of circumstances in assessing the credibility of joint sponsorships

hI! where did u get this? can u please send me the link? would really appreciate the help.. Thank u!

It's up to the CO at the interview and it's on a case by case basis.

    oh really?? thanks!!!

  15. Hi fellow VJers!

I am a nurse and is currently working at a hospital. During my internship i dealt with patients with communicable diseases. Being in a medical profession, there is a higher chance encountering a patient with TB.. so how will u answer the question during the interview if asked if i had contact with people who are infected with Tuberculosis. What is the best way of answering this as to not jeopardize my interview and papers as well.

Thank You for the replies as i badly need this cz i'll be having my medical soon!!!! Thank u!

  16. Wow! i Would certainly tell her that! so the cost of the immunization is inclusive of the $213 that we'll be paying for the whole medical exam? thats good to hear! i thought its gonna be on top of the fee.

THANK U FOR THE HELP!!!! :)

  17. hi VJers,

My fiancee is about to have her medical two weeks from now and upon seeing the list of the vaccination requirements, she has only 2 completed vaccinations out of the list.. I would like to know if she should get the shots done before the medical or just wait for the panel physician's review. If she needs to get those shots, would anyone know how much they would cost? cz it might be a bit pricey considering its from St. Lukes..

    thank u!!!
