  1. sorry if this has been asked and answered, but i wasn't able to find it

i keep seeing reference to the required medical, but it's not entirely clear when this will be required. we've submitted the I-130 (direct consular) and received (and replied to) the Packet 3 - at this point, USCIS has made no mention of a medical requirement, but if there's going to be one I'd prefer to get it done in advance in case there is any followup required due to the results, etc.

any direction on this would be muchly appreciated

    thanks!

  2. I am a Canadian citizen married to a US Citizen, both residing in Canada (my wife has Canadian PR). We have decided to move to the US to be closer to her family as we plan to start our own soon.

We have completed our I-130 and various attachments, and thanks to information found on this site, are ready to approach the Calgary consulate to initiate the process.

We do have one small oddity in our situation, which we hope will not cause us any grief - we have been married to each other twice, without an interim divorce. When she first arrived in Canada, we married by small civil service here in Calgary prior to applying for her Canadian PR. More recently, we were married in Las Vegas - this service included family and friends and a "proper" church ceremony. We now have two marriage licenses and at this point are unsure if we should only include one with the applicaiton (and if so, which one) or both - as far as I can tell it's not illegal to marry the same person twice without a divorce, although quite obviously unnecessary. Here's hoping!

  3. Hi, I'm looking to DCF at the calgary office. For some reason I can't find any information about needing to make an appointment or not for when I bring in my I-130. I've called the automated number for the consulate, the pricey 900 number, checked amcits, the consulate website, uscis, browsed numerous forums, asked on yahoo answers, and yet still can't get a clear response to my question. So, it would be great if someone who's done this could simply say "yes, I had to make an appointment" or "no, there's no appointment required".

    Thanks

To bring in your I-130 you do not need an appointment - just make sure it is during the hours they have for services to US citizens. You will eventually interview in Montreal. Make sure to bring in all supporting documents, including those that state your legal status in Canada. USC tourists are not eligible for DCF. Good luck!

Thank you both - I have been looking for this information all day!
