  1. so we got an RFE.

they're asking for 2011 taxes and 2012 taxes. i guess i'm wondering, since we file with turbotax and its 50 zillion pages, would just the first page be ok to send?( along with w2s and all that other stuff) it has all the pertinent information on it or should i print out the whole thing to send?

also, i have leases from the start of our marriage to current. i was just going to print the first and last page of those as well because they're also 50 zillion pages.

    last,

The house we are renting we're currently in the process of buying. i wanted to include the purchase agreement and part of the loan application. again, i don't want to send in the entire massive document...well, because its massive. do you think it would be ok to send a few pages plus the signature pages, i also want to include the earnest money check because it has both our names on it.

if i include complete documents my RFE reply will be over 200 pages. but will not including them hurt me.

has anyone had experience with this?

  2. hey, its been a while.

is anyone else experiencing ridiculously long wait times? It took 2 months for me to get a biometrics appointment (from august to october)

i never received an RFE so that can't be it. When i called to talk to an officer they said they were very very backed up and it could be over a year before i get my greencard. bleeeh!!! Can i call again after the 6 month period. what happens once the year is up and my extension letter expires and has anyone ever gotten an RFE because of an extra long processing time ( because they want updated evidence)

  3. thanks

    thats what i thought,

now, i'm under the impression that because i will be mailing the app from the U.S and because i reside in the U.S i must follow the old guarantor rules , meaning it has to be a person from the list of professionals ( Ie: dr, dentist, lawyer)and they still have to sign the back of one of my photos. Am i correct in assuming this? or can it just be a 5 year passport holder.

    anyone have experience with this?

  4. speaking of passports guys,

    i have 3 questions.

i have to do a renewal as well as a name change on my passport pretty soon

1 and 2- do i have to complete both a renewal and a name change form or can i just put my new name on renewal form

3- also can i use my mom as a guarantor since she's visiting in two weeks. i read that the guarantor only has to have a 5 year valid passport but it doesn't say anything about using family members.

  5. also, don't hold your breath for any email/text updates or even website updates. they're not very efficient when it comes to these services. but just because the website doesn't update or you don't get notification doesn't mean your case is lost.

truth be told, my K1 app still says awaiting decision and i've had my green card for months.

  6. The officers at the Consulate in Montreal not only read VJ, but they have also matched member names to visa applications. There are a number of Canadians who have had this confirmed at their interviews. I can find you the link if you're interested.

truth ...almost everyone who has had their interview this time last year ( especially for K1's ) at montreal the CO made some kind of reference to their VJ username.

also, the deputy director of the consulate who interviewed myself and a few others told us he was excited to meet a certain few VJ members in person

  7. it may seem scary, the thought of bringing up a child in todays messed up world. i used to be on the fence about having children, i did, i didn't , i don't know. when i finally decided that i wanted a child i had the opportunity taken away from me forever because of a disease. this disease may have fast forwarded what it would have been like if i had gotten to chose not having children. i feel bitter sometimes when my friends talk about it. i get sad when i see my friend's little boy and how much he's grown. i'll never have that ( unless i adopt of course.

if you can have children and its only money that is swaying your decision, please know that financial situations change and that i know people that have raised children with practically nothing to their name (my husband's mother is one of them).

People who never want children usually are pretty firm in their decision, if you're undecided it means that somewhere deep down you know you'll regret it.

i know i will, only difference if i don't have the choice anymore

  8. Wow, I know my husband and I will go to Detroit if we aren't transferred to CSC but it seems the people in Michigan have been having their interviews, not transfers. Glad you made it out alive and didn't get shot.

if you have to make the trip and stay overnight stay in Southgate (30 mins from uscis) not in detroit near the building

  9. FYI the USCIS office in Detroit is in a VERY bad neighborhood. everything around it is all boarded up and slummy looking, then BAM in the middle of a slum; this huge pristine glass governmental building

  10. Approved after my interview yesterday.

it was so ridiculous. she didn't even ask about our marriage, she just went over the "are you a terrorist, communist, rapist, drug dealer" questionnaire that we have to check yes or no to in the initial application. she verified it then told me how to file for ROC when the time comes.

wow i drove ALL the way to Detroit ( 5+ hours) for THAT??! i almost got shot 9 times like fiddy !

but seriously though, with how slow CSC is going now, its worth it.

  11. Frankly for us, immigration DID break our banks, and I am sick of people back home wondering WHY we spent so much money on it, and WHY it took so long to get everything processed, and WHY we didn't just move and marry like most apparently think we can. What bothers me is that people don't understand the legal process, and think that you CAN just move over here and stay and it's legal. It's NOT. And I also hate that there's this underlying assumption that just because you're an immigrant then you must be here illegally. That's not the case either.

    ^

exactly what i went through, exactly how i feel.

    thanks ashen

  12. The strike at Vale-Inco (Sudbury) finally ended a couple of weeks ago. Not really "fun" but a relief for all those families that were scrapping by for almost a year.

above is also my news, since peachy and i lived in the same city. its great news. my uncle FINALLY goes back to work

  13. hello VJ, i'm not sure if this should be posted here but i didn't know which forum

my husband and i are considered a lower income family. we used a co-sponsor to get me here to the states on a K1 and my green card interview for AOS is at the end of august.

in northern michigan they have sliding fee discounts for medical and dental. its not insurance but you have to pay a membership for the year and show proof that you make under a certain amount to qualify.

my card says " northern health plan for the uninsured" my question is Is this considered means tested benefits like food stamps or is it a gray area because you have to pay a membership and the service is only available in three offices in the local area.

  14. we don't have alot of joint accounts cause he doesn't have insurance and the car is in his mothers name cause he fixed it up and is " borrowing it" we have our lease, bank account and the electric account is in both our names. we have wedding pictures of both our families together. i'm thinking of getting our landlord ( who is more like a grandfather) to write an affidavit for us or something.

other than evidence and the obvious IDs listed on the letter what do you have to bring. i noticed it says affidavit of support and your medical to bring those but then in parenthesis it says if not already submitted. i figure this is a generic letter but did they ask for any of the forms.

  15. ..wow missa..you apped just a week or so before me...i still have yet to get a bio letter :(

;_: that sucks. i live in northern Michigan so the offices are DEAD! i walked in to my bio appointment 3 hours early and there was no one. so they took me.

  16. i also got an interview letter in the mail today! i'm actually really excited about that cause it seems to get you a greencard faster than being transferred now a days ^__^

    august 20th DE-troit!
