I read your interview experience, I remember interviewing for a position in NY and their was such a hugh gap between my first interview and my second that when they called me I had forgotten all about it, and you would think if they called you in for two interviews they would atleast inform you when the job is filled, nope, still haven't gotten a word.

The job that I have now their was a three week gap between my interview and when they called me back for a second interview and another 2 week gap before they made me an offer!

Hey Ladies i wanna say congrads to yall approvals i hope everyone have a happy holiday.

I wouldn’t say I’m a newbie but I don’t post as much as I use to simply because I have been consumed with other things that I don’t feel is very relative to the board anymore. Things on VJ do seem to center around the Visa process which is why it is here in the first place. I have stated before that I felt overwhelmed with this process and sometimes deliberately stayed away from VJ just to not think about it for a while.

When I was a newbie i posted a lot compared to now just because I’m a open person and love others advice but as the time went along i seen that if you posted certain things it might be thrown back in your face so i backed away from that and only tell certain people on here certain things.

honestly that’s why I feel that most relationships on VJ seems like every day is paradise because people are now afraid to post certain things for that reason. I would be the first to say my relationship is not peaches and cream because life is not peaches and cream but to discuss why it is not paradise I will certainly not post just because of what I seen transpired on the board.

Besides that which only may affect the vets I feel VJ is very informative, I was clueless when the thought first crossed my mind now I can give others advice. for the newbies that are only concerned with the visa process you can’t blame them we all was that way once. It’s only because I been on here a while that I would want to know when the next stella is coming out or if dada took care of those cobb webs lol or if regal got approved or if sus went to amnesia on her ja trip or if philly is still chasing cats ect… lol lol

Hey ladies blessing to all that is interviewing this week...

Time has changed so much it is literally a shark tank when it comes to job searching in NYC either it's a whole bunch of fluff or they are requesting a BA to be a receptionist, I will be dammed if I do years of college to be a receptionist! This whole process has been so annoying. I interviewed with this job on Nov.9th it went really well but a week later I did not hear from them so I thought hey maybe they went with another candidate a day later they called me back and asked for a writing sample which I sent them. Now another week passed and I still have not heard nothing it’s been like 3 weeks since the interview I sent a follow up letter last week and got no response. I am so confused I know the person who is leaving the company is not leaving until the end of the month but I mean at least give a response I think that is so rude... anyways I felt like the job was mines when I interviewed and I’m trying to stay positive and think well it is very easy for them just to respond back and say they gave the position to another candidate so maybe I’m still in the run idk but I am getting so discouraged... **okay rant ova**

hey ladies, update#2 i know those who are still waiting for dates probably hate me lol but i asked i sent the embassy a email requesting a later date in dec preferabally Dec 22 **when i told my mom i did this she just laughed at me** but they sent me a email back giving me the exact date i requested, i really hope they are this nice when its actually time for the interview.... i feel so much better now!!!

quick update umm so i emailed the DS230 because we was holding out trying to pin point a schedule date near the end of Dec anyways i emailed it on Wednesday and they just sent me a email talking about the interview is scheduled for Dec 8th!!!! yes ladies i guess im suppose to be excited right??? but he is nowhere near ready medical, police report ect and neither am i preperations preperations ect... this just hit me like a ish load of bricks after all this waiting...

I wonder why when stuff is all good these things can't happen but when you need to just focus on yourself and yourself only for a little while these things just happen to spring up see dada this is why i was at the gym at 5 in the morn tryna free mi mind lol SMDH

That's great news! Right around the corner so not much time to wait. On the positive side, you have a holiday coming up where you [hopefully] will get to relax from work & focus on the VisaJourney.

You may already have, but if not, schedule the medical immediately! Call & tell them the date & see if they can squeeze him in. As far as getting the police report... ... hope he lives close to Kingston, or that may be two trips.

I have not scheduled the medical yet but i will tomorrow maybe in kingston so we can see if he can kill 2 birds with one stone... omg this date really slapped me in the face lol i swear everytime i contact those people they respond right back to me but thats why i held my ds230 for so long yikezzzz!!!!

My fiance went to the RGD office in Kingston ..but its not the same place where u get the police record..he paid $5000 ja for the "7 day service" but when he went they told him the system was down and that it would take more than seven days..and that they would mail it to him..it took about 2 1/2 weeks..he finally got it last friday..i would suggest to get it from now to avoid the headache..the police took no time he got it the same week he went to apply for it..

do you have to go to kingston i see they have offices all over JA???

RGD TO NET $15M FROM FEE HIKES

THE Registrar General's Department (RGD) is expected to rake in an estimated $15 million from the increases in service fees that were announced earlier this week.

But the $15 million represents half of what was estimated at the outset as the increases were applied some six months later than planned.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kingston on Monday, CEO of the RGD, Dr Patricia Holness said the entity was forced to hike the fees amid rising operating costs, despite savings of $9.6 million from cost-cutting measures implemented in the last fiscal year.

She said the fees had remained unchanged for a decade, notwithstanding economic shocks such as rising oil prices and inflation.

She said the adjustment in the fee for courier services, in particular, will affect almost all customers, but that the majority of the increases would affect only one per cent of the RGD's customer base.

"We understand that there are some one per cent of persons who are not happy at this time and one per cent of a large number is still a large number. But we do have a shared vision with the Government to further improve Jamaica's civil registration facility but this would not be possible unless we adjust our fees, we need to cover our costs," Holness said, noting that the operations of the RGD, which has been functioning as a Type C executive agency, is no longer Government funded.

"We now have an expenditure analyst who examines every expense, but despite the savings experienced we continue to face rising costs. We have had to hold our vacancies and over 50 vacancies remain unfilled," the RGD head disclosed.

Some of the services which customers have been paying more for since Monday, include the recording of deeds or other legal writings and genealogical research fees, which now attract an $850-per-hour fee. Customers are now expected to pay $100 for the courier service for each application. This is the first time, since the 2004 introduction of courier services, that customers are being asked to contribute a percentage of the cost.

In addition, each certificate or registration of a Building or Benefit Building Society attracts a $2,000 fee, not including stamp duty charges. The agency has also introduced a family calendar service for persons interested in highlighting, on a personal calendar, important family dates such as births, memorials and wedding anniversaries of all persons on the family tree. This service attract a fee of $1,000.

The new fee structure reflected an adjustment in services provided by the Island Record Office, an arm of the agency.
