  1. Claudeth lives in Santa Ana, been here for almost six years from Cagayan De Oro. Have you been to Cerritos, there is a large Filipino population there. They have a Goldie Locks and a Jollie Bee there plus a couple of grocery stores that cater to Filipinos

Jasman0717: Hello, thanks for your reply, I will be glad to get to know her...

  2. I'm just curious if anybody's been scheduled for June yet by NVC. I haven't heard from anybody from the Philippines that have been scheduled, at least no one whose category is IR-1/CR-1.. wacko.gif

Its the NVC will give you your interview date..thats for CR1/IR1.. goodluck and Godbless

  3. Well the Los Angeles area get plenty Filipinos, probably the most in the whole US, next to the bay area. Maybe someone from that area can chime in, coz it is so big. I know Milpitas is where TFC headquarters is, so you can try there.

thanks! yes ur right, but LA is still far from here, I would be glad if I will know somebody living in same city where we are or just near, and also Milpitas is near SF, thats even way too far.

  4. I have no questions and not looking for any advice and not really venting here but just need some place to put all this down and may as well share it at the same time.

Some of you may remember back in early March, just before I was to leave to visit my fiancee for the first time in nearly 2 years, she came down with what turned out to be pneumonia. She got a CXR and the radiologist or whatever saw something in her lungs that she could not verify because of the pneumonia. She was prescribed antibiotics. I forget how long for, I think 10 days or so. Then they started her on medications for ptb and told her to come back for another CXR on May 1 - after 2 months of the treatment medicine. In the meantime we got NOA2 on March 22, 2011 and set up her interview appointment for May 25 because we wanted it to be after her May 1st CXR and leave enough time between then and the interview for her Medical Exam at SLEC. She did get the CXR on May 1st and they did see some pulmonary scars but "not active infiltrates" or something like that. She continued her medicine. I had postponed my visit with her in March because there was the possibility she may have active ptb and with my kidney transplant we did not want to chance it that I may contract it from her as it would be difficult to treat for me. By Early April I was convinced she did not have active ptb and was ready to visit her so I re-scheduled for May 12. I did go then and had a great time with her. Prior to my going there she had her Medical Exam at SLEC and they did see the same pulmonary scar or "something suspicious". We expected that and aslo that she would go back for 3 day sputum which started the day after I left on May 23rd.

So she did the 3 day sputum and today was her pulmomary evaluation and this is when she had first chance to tell them that she was taking the ptb medications for now almost 3 months and she presented the certificate from her local physician. The doctor told her that since she had started the medication that they wanted her to finish it with the SLEC and that they would not do the sputum culture because it would surely be negative because of the medication. The doctor also looked at her CXRs from March, May 1 and the Medical Exam from May 9/10 and said she already sees impsovement in the pulmonary scar. So my fiancee will continue the medication for another 3 months starting Monday May 30 but from then she will go to SLEC everyday to get it. Then September 6 they will do Sputum culture, so we are now waiting until November 6th 2011.

My fiancee was really upset and dissapointed and when she told me so was I. She asked me if I would still wait for her. And of course i will! After all, it just 5 more months and she waited me for almost 2 years while I struggled through my divorce (long, nasty) and a kindey transplant and complications and a long recovery from that! I reassured her that me waiting was an easy given. Again, just 5 more months. I would wait longer for her! I began to think that maybe she shouldn't have started taking the medicine when her local physician prescribed. But after I chated with her today and we talked and then I came to work and talked to my mom and thought about it more, what was she supposed to do? Her doctor had her start the medication because he had reason to. Should she have refused? I don't think so. What if she never had the pneumonia and we went on and had medical exam and 3 day sputum and culture and maybe she would have failed that cuture test and then we would be waiting 8 more months instead of five! No, I think it went as God planned and there are probably even more reasons behind how this all went. And even still the main thing is that she will sure to be free of this disease and can be at ease that it has been thoroughly treated before she comes here (and relatively cheaply, I might add, versus her getting treated here, even with my insurance!).

So I just wanted to get all that out and share it also. Comments are welcome but I'm not looking for advice cuz there is nothing we can do except what SLEC has instructed her to do - and wait. And also no shoulda, coulda done this or that cuz I feel the proper things were done as my fiancee did as the medical professionals told her and I think all will work out for the best mainly for her health.

    Thanks for listening!

God bless all on your VISA quests!

stay strong! as you said, Everything happens for a reason...been there, do that,etc...sooner you both will be together...Godbless!

  5. Hello Everyone,

My fiancee, Ann, had her K1 interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila on March 22, 2011. It has now been 19 days since the interview and still nothing from the Embassy or 2GO. At the interview, she was told that her application was approved and dutifully waited in line at the window to provide information to the courier service. She was not asked to submit any 221(g) documentation nor was administrative processing of any kind discussed. We have contacted the Embassy by phone, which proved to be a waste of time ... the call center can't provide any information and simply can't get through on the IV number. I have sent inquiries to IVManilaReplies@state.gov, to no avail (no response). We have even bugged the courier, just to be on the safe side.

Has anyone else here had a similar experience? If so, how did you get it resolved? If anyone is aware of a general slowdown in the issuance of visas, that information would also be helpful.

Thanks and have a great afternoon!

    Joe

19 days seems so long...as for my experienced it only took 7 days, and one of my friend is just even 5 days...we knew that the visa is going to be delivered because the courier service texted us informing that the embassy already release it and expected delivery will be the next day..If there's no problem during the interview I'm pretty sure she will receive it sooner...but I was just wondering that it took that long.

  6. Dear VJ members,Please help. We received a visa interview date on March 21, 2011 from NVC. Last Feb.23, 2011 my daughter and I went to Saint Lukes for medical check-up. My x-ray check-up was clear but my daughter was subject for sputum test for 3 consecutive days and another 2 months for the " culture " process. Although, her previous x-ray check-up from the other hospital two weeks ago was clear. How can we reschedule our interview appointment? Who will be the one who can give us a new appointment date? The St. Lukes Hospital or we are the one who will make a contact the U.S. Embassy for re-scheduling of our interview appointment?

Any x-rays that is not clear in st. lukes result is subjected to sputum test for 3 days, it doesnt matter if its clear from the another hospital or clinic (slec has their own rules guided by US embassy). after 3 days, kahit po negative or positive result ang sputum STILL it will undergo another 2 months for culture test, which is the most important then, if Negative..good news u will have another interview date scheduled by them, if Positive your daughter will undergo treatment for 6 months in slec. About sa re scheduling ng appointment/ interview St. lukes na po bahala don.. wish u goodluck!

  7. hi to all vj members

As i had my medical result they find some abnormality on my x-ray result. and they sched me 3 days test for sputum...

my question is... what if my 3 days test turn out negative is it possible to request another x-ray test? (i dont mind if they charged another amount for x-ray test)

Anyone gone through this experience? thanks in advance :help: :help: :help: !!! God bless!

if St.lukes found something abnormal in ur x-ray they will really do the 3 day sputum test! that's the protocol if your x-ray is not clear...and even if it turns out negative, still you need to wait 2 months for the culture result which is the standard test to know if you have active tb...and if its positive! then you need to go tru 6 months treatment in manila (not allowed to go home. you need to stay there for the rest of the treatment)..i think you can request if you want to but its just the way how it works..Goodluck!

  8. this is how it goes....

I have a Green Passport the time my husband submitted the photocopy of it to NVC for the DS-230, supposedly it will expire this coming Nov. 2012, but I decided to have it renewed to the machine readable passport (maroon). Now that my passport is different from the one my husband submitted to NVC, DO I NEED TO INFORM EMBASSY? (btw, my case is already forwarded to USEM Manila)...thanks and i hope i can get some answers here....

  9. Scotty'sgirl: Have you had your BC amended and corrected na? Make sure you do it ASAP.

Hi happydancer! I haven't. How long will it take if I will have it amended & where? Thanks.

Go to the Local Civil Registrar where you were registered for your BC and ask them about the process of adding a middle name to your BC. That's the case with my daughter. It took me about one month to process the paperworks and 1 month to get the NSO to amend and add it to their database. Don't worry, you can keep track of it the moment the Local Civil Registrar has forwarded the correction to them. They use LBS so it's traceable.

Thanks a lot for that. That's very helpful.

    You're welcome! Good luck!

You said that NSO can add middle name in their database, how about the mispelled name? do u have any idea if its possible, i asked someone from NSO why they didnt change my mispelled surname and they told me that it cannot be corrected anymore, they just put a notation that it was mispelled.

Right! NSO can't change it the way it appears in your BC, they WILL JUST PUT A NOTATION on the side that it is already corrected. same with mine!

  10. My girl got her BC yesterday when she got home she noticed her first name was spelled Pamala instead of Pamela so she went down there and they told her it would be $1500.00 pesos to fix and it would take 4 weeks.....For me it seems if it was their mistake they should fix it right away and why charge for it?????.....Or is this a way that the Goverment tries to make extra money? Anyone else run into this problem?

hello Charlie&Pam: --same case here!, I had also a mistake in my BC regarding my name, its even only a dash(-) in between my name rather than a space which appears to my BC in NSO copy. What i did is just, I filed for a correction of entry in our local civil registrar where I had my record. I had it corrected last 2007 in which i paid only 1000 pesos for that single thing. I filled up a form for correction, attached documents that support for the correction of entry, which is ID's , NBI, school records, voters affidavit, etc..anything that has a correct spelling of your name being used..Its NOT 4 weeks to me though, it takes 2 months + for me to get the new BC in NSO paper, with a remarks that the name is already being corrected..and btw affidavit is ok, but some wont accept it anymore, BC should be corrected..better start filing now.. :innocent:

  19. Hello Everyone!

So this is our case : My husband filed I-130 as a Permanent Residence for me last June 2008, we received NOA for it that they received our documents and the receipt notice..(CA processing center). My husband will soon take his oath to be US citizen this Feb. 26, we will then UPGRADE my papers as soon as he gets his Certificate of Naturalization, my question is: Does this process will then be more faster? and does those times we applied for I-130 last year is counted for it to be approve? how long does it takes? any ideas is very much appreciated, and anybody here has the same situation with us? thanks a lot and more goodluck!

    hii candy

i did same for my wife in india. I filed I-130 as PR and then I upgraded the petition. I think it usually takes 2 months to get approved and once its approved its upto you how fast you submit all the required documents. So, my advise is keep ready all the required documents birth certificate in english for you and your husband, marriage certificate, pcc, afidavit of support papers. pay the AOS and IV fee online that will save some time too. I hope this will help

    Hello Guru80

thanks for your reply and info, so you mean normally after upgrading, USCIS approves I-130 in 2 mnths approximately? in which processing center are you...we are in CA, how's your case? and to your wife? thanks again...

  20. hi there everyone...im a new member here...as i was browsing everybody's posts, it seems that you guys can help me about my problem...can somebody eplain to me or share with me their experiences about upgrading the petition filed previously...My case is this.... My husband filed a petition I-130 for me. he used this form since he is still a permanent resident in the US....the USCIS received it las Jan. 18, 2008 and it is still pending. I understand that in this case, we are in the F2 visa category (am i right on this?) and that this visa is known as the "quota visa" and this will make us wait pretty long.

Now, my husband is qualified and will apply for a citizenship this coming June 2009. Some said that right after his oath taking, given a chance that he passed all the necessary tests and interview, he can apply for the upgrading of the said petition (to IR-1...am i correct?)...In general, how long is the process would be....Let's say, including the waiting time for my husband citizenship approval?

I hope someone can help me with this...please, please, please....

Thanks so much for your time...

    Kate...

:) Hello, we do have same case here, btw where u from? To ours is like this, my husband also filed my I-130 for me as a Permanent Resident last June 2008, He will have his oath this Feb. 26, and right after that we will upgrade my papers as soon as he will have his Certificate of Naturalization..I still dont know the processing time after upgrading, thats what also im checking here to those who have same situation, but i read in some forums here that it will be faster as soon as it is being upgraded..and to the processing time of a citizenship approval, i think it depends on every person's backgroud ive read some just got it approved in a shorter time, to my husband is really a long wait until his interview letter received, he applied for N-400 last 2006, got his interview letter last Nov. 2008! its 2 yrs + we are waiting for it, and finally has his Oath this Feb 26, 09. Some got their citizenship approval in how many months, and some a year.., We dont know whats the reasons in the delay..but dont worry maybe for your husband it willnot take too long...
