  1. I wish him good luck for a job in the US with that degree. I have the same degree from Embry-Riddle and see no future with it directly even with over 15 years experience in the air force. I moved on into an MBA.. The private sector is hard on jobs, and the government side has them, but will require him to be a US citizen. (Another 3 years after you marry or 5 years in country)Either way, he probably wouldn't start work before his time was up on a K-1 anyway. So, you may want to see what other options you have or are willing to do to be together. Marriage if your time is right, or find a way to work it out long distance for a bit. I wish you luck!

  2. I can only say I feel your pain. They lost the entire packet (fee checks and all) on us the first time. We had the return receipt with the stamp that they received it, but claimed they never got it. We ended up having to get everything all over. (Apostilled documents from 3 states, and translated documents from El Salvador - also no easy feat) Their "review" was just "no, we still don't have it".. It's frusturating i know. I hope things work out for you on that. Extra birth certs never really hurt - never know if you may need it again anyway. Wish I had more positive news to share. Good luck!

  3. I agree that I think he will have to get one. I am interested to know if the Embassy will email or call him.

My wife says the embassy never called her, but they did have her number if they needed to. She was always notified by mail, and ocassionally email. Embassy rules and proceedures could be different in each place as far as I know. Never married anyone from Jordan before! :) Best thing I can tell you is have him make sure he is as accessable as possible to them as he can be. If these people don't think you are "deeply concerned" about doing all you can, they will deny you very quickly. Don't give them any reason for that. I work for the US Gov myself, and they gave us a hard time during interviews. The DoD wouldn't let me visit my wife due to travel restrictions to her country, and they tried to say I didn't go see her enough while waiting. Just document everything you do with real letters, photos, and witnesses.

  4. Hi guys,

Hope everyone's having a great weekend and enjoying your 4th of July holiday!

I have a question about the timeline of the I-751 Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence. My Conditional Green Card will be expiring on 14th December 2011, so we plan to file the I-751 to get the conditions removed from the Green Card in September. Can anyone tell me roughly how long this process will take and when the new Green Card could be expected?

We plan to visit my home country, Sri Lanka early in the Thanksgiving week for 2 weeks - returning on the 6th or 7th Dec, on the assumption that it's not a problem for me to re-enter USA with only a week to go on my current Green Card. Or do you think the new Card would already have come by late November?

Any insights from your experiences is much appreciated! :)

    Shani

    Shani,

When you send in your I-751, you will receive an extension letter for 1 year on your card. You will be fine to come and go. Just make sure you are flexable to make any interview they may request. Enjoy your 4th!

  5. Does anyone here work in Sclumberger corporation in texas, if yes do you know if they apply for green card on behalf of employee. I possibly will be getting an offer from them, but as of now they have been telling no green card sponsorship, . Is it a not openly stated fact? . Any information in this regards will be helpful

    thanks

It might be up to the company to when and how they decide to do that. I know there is only a certain amount of visas granted each period, and the company may have to bid for a grant before they open a visa request for a member. Either of both of those issues may apply in your case.

I wish you good luck my friend.

  6. My fiance does not have a PO Box and of course does not get mail at home. How can we make sure the Embassy/Consulate letters get to him? He lives in Jordan.

Not to sound rude, but that might be something he would want to get to ensure message traffic. If it is important to take these steps, then it is worth finding a way to do it. You'll find that the whole "journey" is about "How much is your relationship worth" to you. You may have discovered that the fees and costs are quite steep. I wish you luck!

  7. [Thank you for asking this question. I am also confused. It says on my email 4 page letter from NVC all fees paid. but my attorney told me they would collect $404 the day of the interview in US dollors at the embassy. Please can anyone answer this quesiton.

That should be the visa fee itself. My wife had to pay this after her interview. They may also collect a courier fee to send it to you.

  8. Hello Everyone,

Can someone tell me which type Abridged (Extrait d'acte de Naissance) or Unabridged copy of birth certificate do I need to submit for my husband with the I-130 Petition at the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca?

    Thank you

    Hazel

I would imagine the unabridged copy due to the nature of the request. I'm pretty sure they want it apostilled as well - at least they asked that of us. Any official document like a birth cert, or devorce decree was subject to that. Good luck!

  9. Forgot to tell you guys... I got my green card in the mail last week!! They told me at the embassy it could take up to a year but it was 2-3 weeks!

    Hi,

What can you tell me about your expedite experience from the request at NVC to granting your visa? What was the proccess? Was everything just sent to the embassy? I can emagine the whol ething is different. I have a request in now. Our USCIS request was granted in 3 days after we figured it out...

    Any advice would be GREAT!!!

    Mike N Liss

  10. Hello.

My wife is in El Salvador too. We got married 3/4/09 and are burning through the process using the military exemptions. The NVC has our case, but they have notified the Embassy in San Salvador that we are expedite eligible. I have no idea what it all entails, but what we were told is everything just goes directly to the embassy, and all the NVC paperwork is done at the 1st interview. Has anyone else done this?? USCIS was only 11 days from NOA1 to NOA2!!
