  1. Guys,

I was just going through Arriving in America, POE drill. I saw this there:

"HINT: do not lock your luggage, or use TSA-approved locks." Is it compulsory to put TSA approved locks? I mean I have seen people putting locks that open with key on the bags. What is the right way?

we travel a lot to all over the world., n domesticially n to caribbeans etc.. use TSA lock .. so if they want to open it they culd .. it is not 'compulsary' to use TSA lock.. have used others .. once they just broke the reg lock and opened it .. however my face washes and few other stuff were missing LOL... but that only happened once...

    haha face wash :P

Where can one find TSA approved locks in Pakistan? Can one put on China made locks on them :D These are the ones easily available.

  2. hi guys i had a question...

one of the main things u must provide is pictures with ur fiancee. we took quite a few of those - maybe around 15. but does it matter how close you stand to your fiancee in those pics? in most of the pics here on VJ iv noticed that the couples are basically hugging eachother when getting their pics taken.

because of obvious reasons i was not able to hug my fiancee in the pics but we are standing 'fairly close'.

    does it matter???

    hahaha... u r funny u will b fine=) u r engaged to a MUSLIM n PAKISTANI they know how it is w/our religion /culture=) too close culd hint married u know !

they r interested in seeing engagment reception pics... nothin close / hugging etc is 'not' required by the ISL CO =)

no questions asked from us re. this so u will b fine=)

    tkc n lucks,

kbushra1 you are very funny, haha, I can not keep my teeth in since I read your post :P

  3. If you do not file taxes or file as a non-resident for purposes of avoiding US taxes as a LPR your status is automatically in jeapordy. This information I got from a CIS immigration officer before we left. I was only speaking for our situation. We maintain a residence in the US while working overseas to definitively be able to demonstrate that we do not and never intended to abandon US residency. You know what? Even with that I know we are still taking a chance and I possibly will have to file all over again for my wife. (DCF this time). This is not likely from experience of other expats here but we know and accept that the possibility is there. And you're darn skippy we keep and maintain autos, insurance, utilities, bank, credit card, and cell phone accounts in the US as well.

You are paying for all it

  4. I came to the US with an F1.. after a year i started dating my husband, we got married my junior year of college. My f1 was still good for another year. We got married. We filed I-130, I-1485, I-131 and I-765. I was still in school, when you apply for adjustment of status you automatically are not an f1 status at your school so you have to report that to the international office. You are legal though, because you are waiting to adjust status. DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY!! even though you still have the student visa to come back... and I would suggest only using advanced parole if is an emergency. It's been over a year since i got married and havent been home... I just had my aos interview last week and i'm just waiting on that to go home.

Seems to me, or at least in my case.. going from an F1 makes the process easier, bc your spouse is already here so no need for fiance visa... and also i guess the US already has records of you and knows who you are. You should be fine.... and NO need of lawyers, they're so expensive.. unless of course there's something in your records that will complicate your process...

    aye aye

I was an international student on F-1. Came back home and noe I am coming back as LPR. Will I still pay international fee at the university or can I get in-state tuition?

  6. Whatever it means, so far I am not aware of any cases (from here) where non-US LPR spouses are being bothered on entry when they are traveling in and out of the country while accompanying their family. If any of my co-workers has a problem this will be the first place I post lol

Foreign nationals that are lawful permanent residents of the U.S. must present a Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”, INS Form I-551), a Reentry Permit (if gone for more than 1 year), or a Returning Resident Visa (if gone for 2 years or more) to reenter the United States. U.S. LPRs are not required by the U.S. to have a passport for travel, although most foreign destinations will require you to have one to enter their country. (LPRs that are out of the U.S. for more than 180 days are subject to new immigrant inspection procedures as per 8 USC 1101.)

What exactly does the bold part mean? Anyone know specifically?

What do you guys mean by ' you have to maintain U.S residence in order to stay out of the country.'

Do we have to keep a bank account, credit card, file taxes and maintain U.S residence while having a re-entry permit?

  7. faisalShirin4eva kis ne kaha kunwara rehne ko tumhe yaar, visa ke baghair shaadi nahi ho sakthi kya. Ajeeb baath kar di aap ne janab.

Plus I get her 1000 Rupees easy load every other week. She calls me aur Sara credit aik hi din main nikhal dethi hai. I think it's better if I call her from now on. U know sometime the calls drop. winx. Just kidding. :P

Does giving exam such as TOEFL help before immigrating to U.S? What if intending students give this exam, will it help in anyway?

  8. What's USEM?

    lucks w/the date brother

    Hello Guys,

I am new here. I don't know where else to ask this question other than this forum. Please tell me if I did wrong by posting here.

I want to know if one goes to second medical after one year of interview how much do the doctors here charge?

I know of one person who went to Aziz Medical Center in Islamabad and was charged 10,000 PKR whereas another friend went to Hamid Latif Hospital, Lahore and was charged half amount as doctor said he accepts previous vaccinations given a year ago and only gave him one injection.

This is really confusing as the one who went to Islamabad was give all injections again and was charged twice the amount . (Both of them mentioned to the doctors that this was there second medical exam). Can please someone tell me why is there a difference?

Islamabad is near to me but this scenario makes me think if I should proceed to Lahore.
