My four gorgeous ponies and two adorable guinea pigs I miss them so much but I know they are living a VERY nice comfortable life with my mother and father. I thought about bringing one of my ponies over but the cost and then stress to him far outweighed the pros of having him here. I miss living on acres but hopefully my USC hubby and I will buy acres soon. Also here we have much nicer cars and motorcycles, and then friends with horses so I am not totally without

I too am looking for work with no luck yet and "gah" I am with the boredom, there is only so much shopping, house/yard work that can be done. I volunteer at a therapeutic riding farm doing all sorts of things a couple days a week which is great. But other than that i kinda hide out on my own. People here are so loud and rude, ladies with big boofy hair, nasty nails, leathery skin, tank tops and shorts, bleh, thats why I avoid the malls and most places in general! I always seem to get in their way unintentionally and piss them off

So now I am living here in the USA permanently I am coming across a few things I have never done before like going to a hair salon for the dreaded restyle that is long overdue. I am a little worried about how I tip someone like a hairdresser. If I pay credit do I just add it to my total or do I need to pay cash and hand it over to the hairdresser? How much do I tip, a percentage or a flat amount for each thing I have done while I am there?
Also do I tip for dry cleaning? I need to pick some up for the first time tomorrow, do I just pay the bill without a tip or leave a tip for their service?
I have tipped in restaurants before is it just the same? Help me! Also any other "tipping etiquette" I should know? I googled for tips but find conflicting info and my husband is not being very helpful when it comes to a hairdresser
Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I think I found the answer to the jobs I was looking at and I need to be a citizen for these ones, ah well, something will come along for me I hope sooner rather than later!

Hello,
I have been here a little over a week now and still looking for work. I have found some job applications that say "All positions require that you either have, or be eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance". Am I eligible for this security clearance with my green card? Or do I need to be a citizen?
Thanks.

My POE was LAX on the 20th July 2009 and I recieved my SS Card today, the 27th July. I had ticked the box on the DS230 to have a SSN issued automatically to me. Still waiting for my "official" green card though.

Yay! I finally got my VISA on the 25th of June in the mail. I have bought my plane ticket, leaving the 20th July, will I ever be ready, so much stuff to pack and finalise.
Anyone know what happens to my superannuation here in Oz? Can I claim it and get cash for it to take with me to the USA? I have a few grand sitting pretty in there and don't want to loose it.

Hello,
I have been lurking awhile Want to know if there are any other Aussie filing for CR1 Visas? My case was completed at the NVC on the 22nd of April and want to get some kind of indication as to when I will get an interview date in Sydney? But it seems all the Aussies are doing a K3 visa, so nothing for me to really go by cause it is a little different...

Thanks for the reassuring replies. My husband mailed a copy of the receipt today. I guess it must just be a glitch/delay in the new email system but we just mailed it in again just in case. Thanks again

So we just need to mail in the printed receipt? I don't think we have done that? If that is all phew...

I really feel like an idiot here but my husband received this email and I am a little confused as to what exactly we need to do. He isn't online to chat about it and I am freaking out as usual!
"MISSING DOCUMENT LIST FOR: ****************

______DS-230-I:____________________________________________________
The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (I-864). However, we are still waiting for the
Immigrant Visa fee(s). Please submit the fee(s) according to the instructions on the IV fee bill sent to
you from NVC. If you have not received an IV fee bill, please contact NVC. Do not pay the fees unless
you have the accompanying IV fee bill as this will result in a delay in processing your case."
I submitted a DS230-1 and all our fees are paid, it says so online! It was paid a month ago? Any insight as to what we do now? Call them and tell them?
-
Thanks for the quick replies. It will be a year this March since our NOA1, I just don't want to delay this anymore, such a long and timely process

Ok I rushed into sending my DS230 with all my original documents on the 23rd Feb from Australia. I thought I could because I had the cover sheet from the payment of the IV bill and AOS bill. The online instructions give links to the forms and documents needed so I just went ahead and did it.
I just called the NVC and it tells me that they have generated the packet on 10th Feb and it will be sent within the next few weeks, I don;t know why I didn't think to call before I sent my documents . So I have been way too early
Have I just made a huge mistake and going to have to get all new original documents?

Anyone, even not from Australia got an answer regarding their medical exam and the xray or sending in their only original police certificate???
-
I have tried searching for this information but can't find anything, so thought I would ask. Do I need to get a chest x-ray before I make the appointment for the medical exam or will the panel doctor do the x-ray for me?
Also I have already received my police certificate to send into the NVC, but I only received one original from the NSW police. Do I send in the original to the NVC and just keep a photocopy or the opposite, send the NVC a photocopy with the DS230 and I keep the original to show at my interview?
One more question, do I also send in 2 times 5cm by 5cm passport style photos in with the DS230?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I have been here 3 weeks and still nothing successful in the job front. I am stretching myself out and trying to look in other fields outside of my degree which is science and even applying for retail jobs. I am hoping that the kids going back to school leave some openings for me! It is pretty hard going at the moment!
