  1. Thanks ya'll for sharing your experiences with setting your wedding dates. It really helps. Our families want us to get married in Hawaii because of being halfway between us. We'd love to be able to do that, but we're told we will have to book things (location, minister, photographer) further in advance because of all the people that go there to get married. We're only going to have our immediate families there though. After reading your experiences, I definitely think I will wait atleast till we get our NOA2. Oh, and I started our timeline (thanks AnnexoxShay)...I didn't know how helpful that could be in estimating how long it will take. I'm still learning! but it helps reading everyone's posts and hearing from your experiences. Thanks!

  2. I have a question for you all about your wedding dates.....how far in advance did you set your dates? I'm mailing off our packet tomorrow...and I just don't know if I should risk setting a date too soon. I've tried estimating how long the process will take but that seems too risky for me to book vendors and end up having to reschedule. I don't know what to do!

    thanks... :)

  3. @ deedertot - I went to a kodak photo shop and requested to get a passport photo done and before I even mentioned anything else he asked, "Is it for a visa or an australian passport?" I told him that it was for a visa for the US and he mentioned that alot of people have come in and asked for a passport photo and have come back due to the incorrect size for the visa photo. Im glad he double checked it with me! I've heard of people away with their passport photo sizes but there are some who have been sent an RFE due to the incorrect measurements. I suggest you have him re-take his picture to be on the safe side and to save time. Goodluck on that!

Thanks, MzMo1102 for that piece of advice. I appreciate it.....he went to Kodak and they got it done for him no probs. :-)

Is this to take to the consulate interview or for the visa application??

    they're for the visa application

  4. Hi Dee and welcome to the forum :)

My real name's actually Kathy but I had some friends in highschool who couldnt pronounce the "th" properly and would call me Kaffy instead:p Is your mom's name short for anything?

    Thanks!

Aww, darn I thought I found someone else with that name. hehe. Nope its not short for anything, it's just Kaffy....but everyone always calls her Kathy by mistake. :P

  5. Hi, I'm new here to the message boards, and am in the process of putting together the I-129 packet for a K-1 Visa. I know I will need a Co-Sponsor as I am without a job at the moment. Do you think that will be a major problem? Do you think we will get denied the visa because I don't have a job even though I have a Co-Sponsor who makes well above the poverty limit? I don't want to really push back applying for this until I find a job.....but I don't want to risk it either. Any help will be appreciated!

  6. Hi Everyone, just thought I would introduce myself. I've been lurking on these boards for a while now and have already gotten some helpful info! My name is Dee and I am from the US (Kansas) and my fiance, Sam, is from Australia (VIC). We met back in 2005 and are getting ready to send off our I-129 Packet. I have a feeling I will be on here a lot more often. :)

@kaffy - Sorry to pry, but is Kaffy your first name? My mom's name is Kaffy and we have never met anyone else with that name!

  8. Hi all,

I am working on the K-1 visa (I-129F) application, and am hoping you can help me out with something! My question is about the passport style photo that they require. I've read the size must be 2x2" however when my fiance went to the Australian post office to get his taken, they didn't do the size he told them he needed. His ended up being 1 3/8" x 1 7/8". The person there said even though the size was different, that it would still be fine. Also, he is not making a natural looking face at all! I would have thought they would redo the photo because it's definitely not natural! Do you think any of this would be a problem from your experience? Thanks in advance!
