  1. My hubby sent in the choice of agent letter from Mexico around three weeks ago and I have yet to receive a bill from NVC....can anyone tell me how long it took for them to get their bill?

I already sent in my AOS so once I pay the bill and send the package, this would be our last step until our appointment :D Something I'm soooo looking forward to!

    Thanks for your help! :)

  2. For those of you who filed in August and are still waiting -- have you considered contacting your congressmen? It may sound like a far stretch, but when I hadn't heard anything by December (I filed my I-130 in late June) I got on the phone with my congressman and demanded some answers (politely of course!)....I eventually got my case moved to California from Vermont and heard from them in 2 weeks!

I am now in the process of submitting AOS etc. and I was told by my congressman's assistant to call the office in 2 weeks from the time I send everything in if I haven't heard from them saying that my case has been completed.

Anyway, I suggest it to anyone who feels they have been waiting extra long - they really are helpful!

(For those of you who keep posting about my timeline -- I tried! I filled it out but it's not showing up when I post :()

  3. Only place you can see "Touches" is USCIS.Gov Once the case goes past NOA2 you can no longer track case progress on-line, NVC and consulate do not hav an on-line system.

    hmm...thanks again! :)

  4. I-864 is used in 2 different situations.

    1) It is filed to NVC for IMMIGRANT visas like IR-1 and CR-1

    2) It is used when a K-Visa or other NON-Immigrant adjusts status (I-485) in the USA.

    Your situation is #1

    The I-864 is for sponsoring a GREEN-CARD.

Ahhh thank you! So when my husband goes and gets his visa (fingers crossed) he will also then be considered a permanent resident? Or do we file for the whole social security shabang once he is here and THEN he is considered a resident? (we've been married for longer than 2 years)

  5. I've seen a lot of people mention that their paperwork has been "touched" by the NVC or the USCIS...I know that on their website you can see updates, but I've never seen any sort of update saying mine has been touched -- rather it says on such and such date we approved your I-130 please follow the instructions

Where are all you savy people getting your information? :D

  6. Note on Where to File:

Give the completed affidavit of support with all required documentation to the sponsored immigrant to file with either:

a Consular Officer with a completed Form OF-230, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, or

an Immigration Officer with a completed Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

This is on the website at the bottom for the AOS on where to file....I thought I was filling out the I-864 with all the necessary paperwork (tax returns etc) and then sending it with the cover sheet for the AOS paid bill to the address given on that page....What is that part about the OF-230 and filing it elsewhere?

Just when I thought I was beginning to understand!

  7. Ok I have lots of questions and am so utterly confused!

    1) I paid the AOS fee online and it's confirmed that it's paid. I printed off the cover sheet - do I send that alone in the documents only envelope or do I wait until I get the go-ahead to pay the IV fee as well and send in the two cover sheets together?

    2) Where am I sending the AOS once I filled it out? Do I wait for the other packet and send them in together? Send them in where?

    3) Should I send my husband a copy of all of these papers in Mexico so that he has them when he goes for the interview just in case?

    4) My mother is going to show her income as a household member for financial support. We live in the same household - does she also have to fill out the I864 or just the I864A?

    5) Should I plan on going down to Mexico to be with my husband for the interview? Or does that not make a difference? Or am I even allowed to be there?

Thanks guys! :) I am so confused and have searched online for hours for a simple step by step list that explains everything and can't seem to find one. The USCIS website has some information, but not a concise list like I was hoping for hence my confusion ha!
