  1. I seem to be sailing the same ship. No Biometrics so far. Its been more than a month since I sent out my AOS documents. The NOA dates 01/02/09. I called USCIS and they said, i shouldnt worry and will receive Biometrics within the months span. Dont want to miss out on the biometrics appointment and get my case messed up due to postal errors. My address is correct. Would Placing a service request help, when I call again. Dont the operators have any info about cases or whether letters have been dispatched.

In your case, I would wait a little longer. You might get your appointment letter any day now.

As for the OP, I would schedule the INFOPASS appointment to find out what's going on.

  2. We filed married/jointly while pending AOS/after EAD approval. We waited to file until the SS card arrived.

Is this allowed? During the 2008 tax year I was on F-1 status for part of the year, but then applied for AOS. AOS was approved February 2009. I wasn't sure if I could file married jointly through a regualr 1040EZ. Did you file by sending the form with a letter electing to be seen as a resident for the whole year?

  3. Thank God for this thread!

I think I roughly understand the choices, but I would like some clarification. I was an F-1 student, but got married in May 2008 and filed for AOS. I received my greencard this week, so I am now a PR. My question is, can I be considered a resident and file jointly with my husband for 2008 by filling out an online 1040EZ through TurboTax, or do I have to do the "Choose to treat spouse as resient alien for tax purposes" thing?

    Thanks!
