  1. Hi there, thanks for the reply! How did your interview go? Yes, I'm positive there was no interview date with the letter. I still called and asked about it. The person wasn't very helpful. What is an infopass appointment? How much notice do they give you for the interview (date on the letter?). Thanks so much!

My interview went very well, thanks you. I don't know a whole lot about infopass appointments but basically you can walk in and talk to someone in person by scheduling them, i'm sure if you search the forums there will be more information.

I had at least a couple of months notice for my interview, i think.

  2. Thank You so much for your valuable information. Thank you for your time. Just few more questions. How long the interview session per applicant was? My appointment at the Citizenship is at 9.05 AM. Did they ask for passport pictures, I already submitted with N-400 application. Do I need them again. I already submitted original IRS tax return transcript issued by IRS. I have copies of them. For my interview, should I have to bring new original from IRS or copies would be fine. In the instruction sheet they are talking about RS Form 1722, what is this. From where I can get that . Are these same as Tax Return Transcript.

it was probably 20min for my interview but it entirely depends on the applicant, some are longer. they already had my passport pictures in my file. they also already had the irs transcripts in my file and they said that was fine.

I am really glad to know that you appeared for an interview at Chicago Office. How was your experience. How many people and immigration officers were there. What was sitting arrangement. Did you appear for immigration interview. Can you please share your experience how was it. After successful interview, how long it take for an oath ceremony.

Please reply thank you very much.

there were about 150 people there when i arrived, two seating areas by door 1 and door 2 of plastic seats. i waited about 45 min before they called my name. went in, interview was easy, test was easy, they didn't even ask to see most of the stuff i brought.

they give you the oath letter on the same day, so after my interview was done i sat around waiting for two hours until they called my name and gave me the letter. oath is in a week. other people earlier in the day have their oaths as soon as three days after their interview.

  4. well, turned out even though the gas company would only put one name i did think ahead, years ago when we set it up and had them send it c/o the both of us, so that's something. and i just called the electric company, got my name added. won't get a bill in time but i'll at least have an email from them showing both names.

i had to print these myself because we do paperless billing. in the past, i have had statements rejected bc they were printouts, but it's not like i have any other choice...

    wish me luck i guess.

  5. The only negative is that you need to file tax on worldwide income for life as a USC. So on moving back you'll need to file taxes for the US every year (which you could do via turbotax AND you would need to look into the foreign income exemption). Your husband will have to do that anyway but it's something you should be aware of.

yeah this sucks. i have my citizenship interview on thursday and we have started to talk about moving back to australia. i'm still planning on going through with the citizenship though as it'll just make my life easier- seems like it's worth it even if we move back. i think?

  6. We've been living in the US for over three years and I'm about to get my us citizenship. We're starting to consider the idea of moving back to Australia someday. Anyone know if there are any issues with me sponsoring my husband while I'm still living in the US? I have a job here but would have to leave it to move there. So I won't have a job in Australia as his sponsor. Hope that makes sense?

  7. What I did with the companies who would not add my wife's name to the account, was to simply have her name added to the mailing address.

This way it shows the bill was mailed to both my wife and I at the same address. Not one company I contacted had a problem with doing the this.

this is what i've done, because the utilities won't send us a bill with two account holders. however, i'm concerned that it won't mean anything to uscis because it doesn't prove i have liability to pay that account?

  8. You will need to reapply. Make sure that the mailing address is correct when you review the application. If the card was mailed to the wrong address, it must have been wrong on the application. SSN cards are mailed from SSA Headquarters and the card gets the mailing address that the SSA office inputs.

thanks. the SSA office input the wrong address, but i caught it and asked them to fix it. since it still hasn't arrived, i'm assuming they didn't fix it and i'll have to reapply.

  9. If you applied February 1st something should have happened by now.

Go back into the office with the documents you used to apply.

You can also shoot SSA an e-mail to ask what's going on:

    http://www.ssa.gov/feedback/

Include the application reference number 10032XXXXXX and phone number. A number would be probably be helpful as well.

You might need to play around with the reference number to get it to go through. SSA doesn't want people to e-mail their SSN and the system thinks the reference number is an SSN. Just put a couple spaces between the numbers or spell out the numbers and your message will go through.

    thanks very much.
