First, it would be helpful to fill in your timeline so we know which embassy you’re working with, etc. Secondly, it’s a better idea to plan a wedding when your fiancé has the visa in hand and a flight made. We didn’t set a date until my fiancé arrived in America. Also, curious to know the religious reason, if you’re willing to say.

I was just reading that the Kyiv Embassy has temporarily relocated to Poland. I think this is good news as at least processing can be continued, hopefully? I saw this in the notes DoS Blinken made at the Polish Embassy. Blinken speech

As I say, I need to get the totally full story myself (though the bare bones of it provide the basic scenario on which people have been - incredibly kindly and thoughtfully - opining). For now, I’ve sorted a hotel in London, along with quickly arranging the necessary Day 2 COVID test and completing the government Passenger Locator Form etc. (I dread to think what might have happened without a mobile phone and the internet). We’ll regroup here and rebook flight to the US for as soon as possible…

Just a comment about the 2nd day COVID test in the UK. My British/American spouse just flew from the US to the Uk for a month-long business trip. Arrange the 2 day test, but don’t expect the test to show up in 2 days. It is more like 4 days, if you’re having it mailed to you. Good luck. It sounds like you’re on the right track. 🙂

Hi everyone

I am from Australia and am currently visiting my fiance here in the US on a B2 tourist visa. When applying for the B2 visa, I told the embassy that the purpose of my trip was tourism, and did not disclose that the primary purpose of my trip was to visit my then boyfriend, now fiance.

At the time I did not consider this to be a risk, as I had no intention of overstaying my B2. However, after reading some of the posts on here, it sounds like what I have done may impact our chances of getting a K1 approved.

Has anyone dealt with this situation? If so, can you provide some info? Anything would be great - freaking out a little bit!!!

Thank you guys. I appreciate it, but I'm confused about if he was approved or not. They kept his passport and said we will send it back to you. Does this mean he was approved?

I can't speak for your embassy, but normally they won't take the passport unless the Visa has been approved. They put a special sheet in the Passport, and then send a courier to deliver it.

PS It won't hurt to call the DoS and ask. I was on a first-name basis with most of them while our request was stuck at NVC.

It's just paper gathering and filling out the paperwork correctly. I personally think you don't need an attorney if you have a clean-cut case... no legal issues in your past, etc. It doesn't hurt to file it on your own and then get a lawyer later if something comes up where you need one.

My wife is finishing the privatization of her flat in Belarus and already has a buyer. Her mom lives in her own flat so this one is no longer needed. I would appreciate any advice on how to bring/transfer this money back to the US, other than stuffing it in your socks. thanks.

My husband lives in the US but gets paid in the UK. He has used XE for ages and it's very reliable.

I have been away from the forums for awhile, since my English spouse became a citizen.

However, I have a friend who married someone from the UK. My friend is a US Citizen. Is the IR1 still used in 2013, or is it K3 only now?

April is H-1B approval month. It's always slow in April.

To the frustration of many, CSC started the year with "competing agency priorities" (USCIS words, not mine) and was approving I-129F petitions at record low rates. The numbers given here are taken solely from VJ members updating their timelines.

January: 18 NOA2, 4 RFE

February: 15 NOA2, 8 RFE

March: 26 NOA2, 3 RFE

April began like the previous months of 2013:

First week of April - 4 NOA2, 0 RFE

And then the CSC frenzy began! Starting slowly at first with November/December approvals, the momentum picked up quite quickly and shifted to July-September approvals:

April 8: 6 NOA2

April 9: 5 NOA2

April 10: 0 NOA2

April 11: 6 NOA2, 1 RFE

April 12: 8 NOA2, 2 RFE

April 13: 0 NOA2, 2 RFE (Saturday)

April 15: 12 NOA2

April 16: 14 NOA2, 3 RFE

April 17: 26 NOA2, 5 RFE

April 18: 26 NOA2, 7 RFE

April 19: 31 NOA2, 4 RFE

April 20: 10 NOA2 (Saturday)

This is a breakdown of the April approvals by NOA1 month:

July: 19

August: 53

September: 32

October: 1

November: 14

December: 29

It is good to see CSC clearing out their backlog. Congratulations to all that have been approved!!!

I hope this continues until they are back to a 5 month processing timeframe.
