Hi
I was wondering if anybody can help me as I am very confused. My German Passport has run out of date and I got married since my old Passport expired.
I am just not sure where I have to send the name change to?
I understand I need to fill out this form: http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/usa/de/...perty=Daten.pdf
But where do I mail it to or what do I do with it?
Somebody told me that when they went to the Embassy they did it there.
Not sure of what to do.
Thanks!!!
My wife went to the Consulate and applied for a new passport. At that time she told them that she wanted to have her name changed to mine. She had to fill out a form and show the marriage certificate as well as her Green Card or work permit (since we didnt have either at the time, we showed them the NOA1s for each) --- They said it would take about 8 months

I can't answer your question about the translation, but I was just reading your post and wondering what was used to evaluate her teaching credentials while she was here working in an elementary school for 3 years? What did she have to submit for that work? Was it translated at that time? Something to look into...maybe the school system where she was working can provide either documentation in English, or some type of confirmation of her credentials.
When she was teaching here, all the paperwork was handled by the agency that arranged the work from germany. She does not have any records or copies of translations or anything, she just basically paid the agency and they found work in america and took care of everything.
Thank's for the query.

Hey Guys,
My german wife came here on a k1 visa and we have filed for AOS (still pending)
She lived in Texas when we met as she was an exchange teacher working at an elementary school. I believe she did this for 3 years.
Now that she is back here and waiting AOS, we started looking into getting her to teach again.
Looking at the Texas Education Agency about how to have her credentials certified to teach in texas they want to provide all docs approved by yet another agency which will evaluate her grades and courses.
She has like 40 little pieces of paper from the German uni, one per class with the description and the grade... Will she have to have all of those translated and evaluated? Seems like there is something here we might be missing.
Any other VJes in the forums go through a similar situation?
Thanks in advance for the help

Thanks for the response Stephanie.
This is the same that I was thinking.
She went to the University of Rostock and before contacting them, she thought obtaining a transcript of all courses taken would be a futile attempt.
I will show her this thread and your advise, thanks!
Any other advise?

Hello fello VJer,
We received an RFE for the vaccination part after sending the DS-2032 or whatever form that is (sorry, dont wanna look up the righht number) - so I spent a good portion of my workday yesterday calling as many people on the civil surgeon list for houston.
Came across this guy
77022 - Houston, TX
* Dr. Nazmudin Keshwani, Med-Cure
96 Berry Road, Houston, TX 77022
(713) 699-0500
cost us $25 and 2 hours of wait time, but got the job done... Now i KNOW this is the middle of the ghetto and the facility is more of not more than a day clinic, BUT we got the job done... 25 bucks for the sealed envelope and a copy for our records....
For what is worth, i found this other Dr. who also said over the phone would do it for $25 but a bit out of my way
Dr. Forough Farzani, Hillcroft Physicians
6400 Hillcroft, Houston, TX 77081
(713) 988-3921
That should be enough ah?

I am not sure what your concern is. Sending a letter to USCIS is likely a waste of time. I would say to correct it at the AOS interview IF you have an interview, but you may not. The use of a middle name is optional anyway, it is not required for most documents, even legal documents, so the fact it would appear on her green card would make no difference really. She can get her drivers license, bank account, mortgage, whatever, without the use of a middle name. Unless there is some reason I am not thinking of, I wouldn't even worry about it. Change it at the interview (if you have one) or change it with the removal of conditions in two years and just do not use the middle name in the meantime.
I think this is what we will do. Thanks for the time to reply!

No responses? Anyone? Bueller?

We filed for my wife's I-485, EAD and AP in the past couple weeks and finally got the NOA1 for all 3 -
Now after a lot of back and forth we have decided that she will not keep her last name as middle name as originally thought.
We submitted a name change request at the german consulate as : FirstName HusbandLastName (no middle name)
we filed the I485 EAD and AP as : FirstName MaidenLastName (as NEW middle name) HusbandLastName.
Should we even worry about the middle name in the american documents?
How do i go about correcting the "mistake" and removing any reference to her middle name from the american applications?
anyone done this before? I called USCIS and they said i should just send a letter explaining the change...
Thoughts?

Question for my february peeps (crossposted in procedures forum)
We are preparing the documentation for packet 3 and i have a question about police records.
My fiancee lived in St Charles, MO in 1993-94 while on an exchange program in highschool.
Then in Spring, TX in 2004 and in Houston, TX in 2007
Do we need to collect police certificates (background checks) from each police department?
thoughts on getting these (with her living in Germany)?
Nevermind - no need for american police records - confirmed in the other thread.
-
No central office in America (as far as i know)
Yes we do it is called National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and is administered by the FBI
Again Sir (Ma'am?) I stand corrected - thanks for the knowledge
I will now let this thread die. thanks to all!!!!

How about here!

How to obtain a police certificate
Determine from which countries an applicant is required to obtain police certificates. The table below will assist in determining from where an applicant must obtain police certificates.
Note: Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.
I bowdown to you - a gentleman (lady?) and a scholar
THANKS SO MUCH

thanks for the replies and sharing your personal experiences milimelo and Otto. wish i could have a concrete link (my girl is VERY stubborn and me telling her "oh dont worry, it is not required" sometimes doesnt quite make it enough).
for now thanks again and i will take your words for it

When he gets the appointment letter for interview it will say that police records are needed from all countries he lived in for a year or longer - does NOT include the US as they have access to those records.
Don't worry about it.
Yeah, i have read that, but i fail to see where it says "all countries EXCEPT the USA" any docs referencing this? are you speaking from personal experience?

Hello VJers - this is my first post and i will go straight to the point.

nope... USCIS will do the needed database searches as a part of the petition process
so, trying to run around like a chicken with my head cut off contacting Houston Police Department, Spring Police Department and St. Charles Police Department is pointless? any links to websites documenting this?
I don't know how the system works there in the states, but don't they have a central police record? Here in the UK, you just get one If she was 16 at that time then I think one record for the state(if one is available) should suffice. Maybe someone who has done this can shed more light. All the best.No central office in America (as far as i know)
