  1. Yes, the consulate can ask for additional financial support documentation at the time of interview and approve/AP based on what you provide to them. We had an approved AOS package at the NVC level and the consulate did not accept this and wanted to see additional proof... I had to run crazy here moving money into accounts to show them what they wanted to see... SO DONT ARGUE WITH THEM AND JUST BRING THE RECENT TAXES JUST IN CASE.... Regardless of what NVC says, it is the CONSULATE that has the final word during the interview....

thanks christeen, and finnlove your responses :)

  2. Hi, my wife has her interview coming up. I know most people send their entire petition to the beneficiary, which they then bring to the interview.

However, the letter i received from the consulate did not ask request to bring anything to the interview. The only thing they ask was "IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return to the visa interview".

Since i did not file a Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, i know this does not apply to me

So basically my question is, if my AOS was approved by the NVC, can the consulate deny you for a visa for not bringing this?

I sent a email to the consulate and they said to bring the most recent taxes. I already sent the most recent ones to the NVC, and don't understand why i need to send another copy to them.

Any input would be gladly appreciated :)

I guess I'm confused! If you didn't file a tax extension, and you say this doesn't apply to you, then why did you email the consulate and why did they tell you to bring your recent taxes? Did you send your tax transcripts with the AOS?

FinnLove, sorry for the confusing. Please see above post for typo. It wouldn't let me edited my first post :)

  4. It's always best to have a complete copy of everything already filed at the interview. Have originals of important documents as well as copies.

WHY? Because things can be, and have been, lost is mailing and file handling. Why get that close to the finish line and get an RFE for a misplaced document.

If it is misplaced at the consulate, then the consulate can always request another one from the nvc. After all, that is their job.

I'm not trying to get an RFE, i'm just trying to understand if the nvc approved my AOS, how does it fall under the consulate decision to see and verify another tax return at the interview from the beneficiary. Does the consulate also make a decision of an already approved AOS by the NVC?

I emailed the consulate to have something written (proof in email), which i was going to send to my wife to bring to the interview, but instead the consulate said it was needed. They told me to bring my most recent tax returns even though i mentioned to them that the NVC did not request anything

  7. I am not sure if anyone ran into this issue before.

NVC writes on the interview letter

    RUSSIA POLICE CERTIFICATE Y

even though an original document was submitted to NVC and it should be coded O, instead of Y.

yes, you may be right. try contacting the NVC and see what they have to say.

Do you know if Moscow Embassy strictly follows of what NVC puts on the interview letter? Would Embassy demand another original even though one has already been submitted to NVC??

    Please help.

that is a good question, as i am wondering the same question too. For the most part, i would follow what the appointment letter requires you to bring, and what the medical letter found here http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3739.html

  8. Hello all, I am process in helping my wife prepare for her interview and could use some help for those who are familiar with the process or have passed their interview. If there is anything i missed or feel that i should add, please feel free to comment :)

First, do i need a request a DS-3025 form, and have my wife fill out a DS-156 form or does it only apply to K1?

Does anyone know the required vaccinations prior to the medical exam?

I did a search and found this link, but I am not certain of how accurate or up-to-date it is http://www.***removed***/greencard/vaccinat...quirements.html

At the medical exam, my wife will need to bring the following:

    2) Travel passport

3 Medical History with the list of vaccination she received. [The document should include a doctors signature and stamp]

At the medical exam, my wife will need to bring the following:

    1) Appointment letter

    2) Medical results [sealed]

    3) x2 photos measuring 5 cm by 5 cm???

    4) IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return to the visa interview.

[ I'm pretty sure this is not applicble to me as i did not file a IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax ]

    5) Evidence of Bona fide and ongoing relationship: Misc photo's, gift cards, chat logs, mailing receipts, and..... ?

NVC has received and has not requested any other information, so i am assuming there is nothing else that she should bring to the interview?

I have heard others bringing their entire package with them, from CIS to NVC stage. Is this really necessary and can the consulate request anything even though technically they have it or NVC has it on records?

Here's what wife thinks (Wife is probably right :D) :

She thinks i should send her the entire package of AOS, including the I-864 and the W2's etc, and is afraid they will refuse her visa if she does not bring it to the interview. Can this really happened  ?

I just don't see how it's any of the consulate business when it has already been approved by NVC, and luckily we did not receive any RFE's at the CIS or NVC stage.

Unless there are instructions that i did not see that specifically states that the applicant must bring this documents or he/she maybe refused of a visa OR maybe it's just a rule of thumb

  10. My wife had a harrowing experience at Medicina which should be a cautionary tale for all. For unclear reasons, they made her go to serveral different medical facilties in Moscow for "further tests"...thus pushing her time table to get to her interview up within bare minutes of postponement. Beside running all over Moscow in a mad dash to get all her tests done...she had to cry and beg a doctor to review her results immediately or she would miss her interview. I don't think my wife will ever get over the trauma and stress and struggle around her medical exam. In the end, the "further tests" seemed unjustified as she was determined to be healthy.

The lesson here is if you think things will go quickly and smoothly around the medical exam...think again. My wife came within minutes of missing her interview which would have caused her to go home and come back yet again to Moscow for a rescheduled interview and second medical. Think of the money and time and energy and heart break that would cause.

The clinics can play games...perhaps because she was a 130 visa, not a K-1, or maybe looking for a bribe or who knows why.."It is Russia."

sorry for bringing up an old post, but are these stories really true, and how can my wife avoid this if it is? this is really sicking to hear :(

  11. does anyone know which one is current?
