  1. My girlfriend in Niagara Falls and I will soon be engaged. We really want to be married in Niagara Falls where she grew up (Canada side of course), but we also will very likely be going through the K-1 process first. Once she has her K-1 visa, is it possible for us to be married there, and then return across the border and just have a civil ceremony to make it official on the U.S. side? Will us having been married in Canada in any way impact our ability to reenter the U.S. together?

As a side note - Niagara Falls is of course a border town, and like everyone there, my girlfriend is used to going back and forth across the border frequently, even just for shopping trips. Her church is in NY, in fact.

She already has her SSN, as well as an R-1 visa that expires this August, due to having worked for a religious organization in Chicago a few years ago, but has been living and working in Canada for the last two years. I have hoped that either of these two things would move things along an easier path, but so far from my research that doesn't seem to be the case.

    Hi there,

take a look at this thread, it might answer some of your questions

  2. Well, as I had suspected, we have received an RFE for form I-693 - although there are so many posts on here about the civil surgeon process, they are so conflicting. MY husband had a full medical exam in his home country in September. He received all the required vaccinations. There is so much repetition in the immigration process. Every civil surgeon I called is telling me that he has to have a full medical for which they charge $180-$250. I told them that only a transcription of the vaccinations are required and they said they cannot sign off on someone elses work. Anybody else experiencing this??

Like you i also had a RFE for I-693 and i just paid $200 for a new medical. I could'nt find a civil surgeon to transcribe the vaccinations and it got frustrating so i just got a new medical.

I see you are in new york, if your bio is at Varick street, you can do a walk in, thats what i did; very easy.

  3. I crossed at the Queenston-Lewiston POE and i didnt have any issues. I waited a while at the border as it was midday on a long weekend but it was very straight forward and i think they asked me like 2 questions. I just accepted that a big part of this visa journey is to learn to wait.

    Good luck

  4. Let's pick Sean out of the crowd!

I have to ask you all.

What IS with that Gino/douchebag phenomenon? I live in TO and I have never seen on in real life.

I hear they're all over Jersey though!!!!

    *Runs*

Reminds me of a Stevie B concert.

I was dressed very business like because it made me feel confident.

  5. Thank you very much!

We are now filling our the I-131 and are not certain what the "Class of Admission" in part 1 refers to. Can someone please advise?

    Thank you.

  6. Hello all,

i was wondering if someone can help me clarify something. I got my passport back from Montreal with my visa and on it and there is a section labeled "Annotation" and underneath it, it has PET EXP: August 15, 2009. Does anyone know what this means. My guess would be that the I-129F petition expires on this date. Should i be worried about this?

  7. Hello everybody!

Am I the only one with an interview this week? I'm a bit nervous since we just realized that we needed a co-sponsor....the household threw me off since I was thinking more of a physical household, but it's in fact ALL dependents....so hopefully my SO can have these papers here for me before my interview on Friday.....

Looking forward to the interview...I'm not nervous, just excited!

good luck on your interview, mine was on July 29th, it was very laid back, few questions and i was done by 9am(most of it was just waiting around). My advise would be: be organized and get there early(I was there at 6:30 and second in line).

  8. I had my inteview on the July 29th, VISa approved, really easy. I will write\update my timeline whe i get a chance

I like to thank this site for all the help i found.

    and..on to the next step.

  9. Are you guys kidding me??

Man are you stuppid or what??

Give your head a shake :bonk:

Why are we stupid? If you read the letter in P3, it actually states that the american and the canadian standards are the same. oversight on my part more then being stupid. No?
