congrats on the POE!...I'm going through the thousand islands tommorow for mine. Quick question...Do you pull up to the customs booth like people normally do and just tell them your activating a visa or is there a place to drive into before getting to those actual border/customs booths on the road..Thanks:)

I wasn't going to bother adding to this but it comes down to the comparison of the prevalence of maple leafs everywhere to swastikas in '36. The maple leaf is part of our flag a national symbol of a country that is known for it's openess, peace-keeping and foremost, tolerance. The swastika even at the time of the '36 games was a sign of a growing powerful nationalistic fascisit movement within a country that was becoming increasinlgy less tolerant. Hitler objected to Jesse Owens running the one hundred meters in those olympics, Canadaa our politicians for years have more or less embraced people of different colours and sexual persuasions. 1936 were a games filled with hate and very little tolerance. The article is #######, it was poorly written by someone who doesn't know much which is why he writes for some little paper in Texas and not a more respectable national one. As for the posts on the forum..there entertaining.

Congrats
Congratulations! -
That's what I assumed I just wanted to make sure...thanks:)
Not to worry, if there were any concerns they would have let you know. You are good to go! -
Cngrats !
awww.. congrats LGG. and way to go Kitty! My cat also made me very proud when I had to transport her on a 5 day drive. lol The first day she was a little crazy, but after that she was fine, and just meowed when we drove too fast (LOL), or when she figured it was time to stop for the night. By the end of it she was rolling around on her back and everything in the carrier. haha it was awesome. I love animals, and love even more when they surprise us with their extra-awesomeness.Glad you made it through the rudeness and found SOME niceness and had a good POE. Welcome to the U.S.!

Got my medical results back today in the sealed envelope along with the huge xray. Didn't have any probs at the actual medical and they didn't say anything was wrong today...I'm not going to get any unpleasant surprises the day of the interview am I? I think I read somewhere else that if there was a prob with the blood, etc. they would have notified me today. I don't have any reason to be worried but I'm alittle excited considering how close I am to having this stage done with. Thanks.

Yeah...in the six or more months I've been reading VJ (and Montreal Embassy reviews in particular), I have NEVER heard mention of something like this.
It must be more of a suggested requirement in China. I can all but guarantee that it's not in Canada.
On the forums I've been on and the immigration book I bought EOR has never been mentioned as a requirement for Canadians or for any other country in general. On the DOS website it does mention that some consulates have their own requirements in addition to the general ones that apply to all, guess thats the case in China. Here EOR is not needed. As for ####### organization goes my wife let me organize it all which is good:) I would have trusted her in doing it but she's a little more "all over the place" hehe and doesn't really trust herself when it comes to this type of stuff. So for this she's glad I'm so by the book and orderly, #######, etc.

The nurses were female but my doctor was male...I'm a guy so it was actually fine for me. I've read on other postings that the physical part will be done by a female doctor if your a female...but that's only what i've read. As for needles before pricking you they ask if you have a prob with needles or giving blood.
Was the doctor male or female - or was there a female present in the room when the doctor was there? -
Here's a quick summary of the Toronto medical for those who haven't gone yet and are interested.
Lined up at 6:20 (3 people in front of me)
6:30ish they let us in, before going to the waiting room you hand in your visa appointment letter to the lady behind the counter...they use this to call your name once your in the waiting room.
7:00 got called into an office like room where I handed over my id, the money, photos, vaccination proof, also signed a form and got a receipt for the $275 payment. Given a bunch of sheets to take to the xray room (down the hall on the right)
7:10 xray done, lady checked off on a sheet that it was done and sent back to the waiting room
7:35 called in by a doctor to get my blood taken, took it, and checked off on the form that it had been done...sent back to waiting room
7:45 called in to the largest office yet with the typical family office equipment, bed, etc. Nurse took my blood pressure, heart beat, hight, weight tehn told me to take off everything and put on a paper gown thing and that the doc. would be in momentarily
7:55 doc came in asked how I was doing and asked me a bunch of questions, surgeries, mental illness, drinking probs, etc. Looked at the immunization proof, asked me about chicken pox for the verbal declaration. old me to get on the bed thing, poked and proded asked if I ever had a hernia while looking "down there" and then said your all good and good luck on the rest of the process. Took the form that had all the check marks on it showing that I had the blood work, xrays etc to the lady at the front desk. She asked if there was anythign else the doctor needed I told her no, she gave me a sheet showing pick up times, Friday after 12pm and out the door I went.
8:10 Done, now just waiting for the results.
Very efficient and proffesional operation. I answered their questions, did exactly what they said, and let them poke and prod and found it was quite quick. If you make there job easy you'll be out in no time.

Great post for the toronto medical...was trying to figure out how early to get there..I'm not usually even up by 6:15
My hubby is at his medical at Medisys Montreal as we speak. He's not a big detail guy, so I'll see what he comes back with. So far he got there at 1:15 (appointment at 1:30) there was 10 people in front of him to check in, but names are being called fast. His biggest complaint so far, is that parking is $3.50 every 20 minutes $20 Max. I told him to go early to find good parking... -
Thanks for your help, I was pretty sure it was the I-134 just wanted to confirm with others.
Yep, I-134 for the initial K-1 / K-3 application (usually at the Consulate stage), I-864 only once you're in the country on your visa and ready to adjust status to lawful permanent resident.Note that you don't actually need to file the I-134 with the initial petition; the Consulate will request it in Packet 3 once your petition(s) have been approved and forwarded through the NVC to the foreign Consulate. So basically, you just need it for the interview. Some Consulates want I-864 rather than I-134, but they'll tell you which one you need in Packet 3.
The K-3 Guide has a lot of useful information on this.

I was born in Panama so my birth cert is in spanish. I have the original birth cert but only a copy of the translation that was done at the time. Will this be a problem at the interview. Thanks.

For those who have gone through the K visa process which form do they want for the affadvit of support. Thanks:)
-
I'm a K3 visa applicant and have a couple quick questions re: what to bring to the interview. For Aff. of support is it the I-134 form or the I-864 form. And what types of docs. do they look for for evidence of domicile. My wife works in the U.S. has proof of it and she also lives there has a lease which we have proof of. All help appreciated. Thanks

I just got notice via email from the consulate that my interview has been scheduled for March 2nd at 8am and that the appointment letter is on the way. I am ecstatic to say the least.
:) yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to showing my wife around Montreal she's been to Tremblant but never to Montreal...thanks for those of you who have given words of encouragement and help during this process so far

I am so sorry for you
I sure hope they continue to schedule appointments. It seems to me that you're due for one. Best of luck to you! I'll keep my fingers crossed.
thanks bv2116 it's just so fustrating. Thanks for your encouragement:)

Does anyone know if Montreal is still scheduling appointments for March and April. March and April will be the seventh and eigth month I've been waiting for an interview (consulate got my packet three Sept 11)
-
What I find strange is that when contacting the consulate via email or the DOS on the phone I never get a response saying that something is missing, they just keep saying it's pending and in good order. The last lady I talked to at the DOS when she pulled up my stuff was actually surprised I hadn't because she knows they're scheduling poepl from late sept ealry oct now for late mArch interview dates. She even looked to see if it had been transfered somewhere or if anything was out of place, nothing. Very strange just thought I'd post to see what other people thought.
-
You can try e-mailing the consulate to find out the status of your petition but chin up, you're getting close
Good luck
I'm sending one right now..It just seems like it's taking a little too long. If I get a dat early April that will be 7 months of waiting:(

With the increasing amount of people getting interview dates who sent stuff to the consulate after I did I'm quite worried as to why I'm not getting an interview. I've called the DOS and they say I'm still pending and that the consulate has all needed docs. I need to know whats going on? My packet three was recieved by the consulate in the first week of Sept. Please help.
