  1. There seem to be a lot of missing details in your account, so it's hard to say. How long have you been communicating with this Filipina girl? With your ex-wife having been out of status when you got married: did she adjust status through you? Why are you in a rush to make all of these decisions/plans without having even met this new person, despite your history of a brief and tumultuous marriage? I don't really care about the answers to any of these questions, but beginning a new relationship before being free to marry isn't going to come across well to an adjudicator or CO looking at your case, nor is the fairly businesslike manner in which you seem to be going about all of these arrangements.

To answer your actual questions, though: the CR-1 is generally perceived to be better in a lot of ways, as it allows the beneficiary to enter with a green card & work immediately. Others can chime in on the implications for the beneficiary's children with this visa. The processing takes a little longer, but not too much (6-8 months for K-1 and 8-10 months for CR-1 are oft-quoted guidelines, although the timelines can vary a lot). For both the CR-1 and the K-1, though, the primary hurdle you'll have to overcome to obtain the visa is showing that you have a genuine, bona fide relationship, so you'll want to think about how solid your relationship is and how well it will stand up to this kind of scrutiny, both now and in the later immigration phases (as the CR-1/K-1 phase is just the beginning of many years of intensive examination of every detail of your lives together).

You seem to be an expert of both cultures. Never knew that Uganda and the Phils have so much in common....Ps, K1 is used by most.

  2. I don't know any "real" Nigerian men. The only experience I have with Nigerian are those who emails me telling me I won a lottery or something and asking for my bank account numbers. I'm sure there are nice ones and hopefully, they'll respond to your post. But regardless of their culture, you should not be subjected to demeaning. Hopefully, he'll agree to couple's counseling or you can find good Nigerian couple and hang out with them so that your husband would know what a proper Nigerian acts like.

I agree. The only thing I know about Nigerian men, are that they are asking me about my bank account and how they can make me rich, if I first send them thousands of dollars.

Of all the things the OP describes of her Nigerian, I was wondering...Just what were you loving about this guy in the first place...? 'Cause it just ain't there anymore.

    Show him the door.

    Peace.

  3. I'll never understand why USCIS approves petitions for people who meet online and then in real life all of two times before getting married... but then when someone like me (who LIVED with my husband, WORKED with my husband, and was PREGNANT with his child) drives 400 miles in one day to marry him while he's detained in immigration jail, USCIS thinks I have a f***ing fake marriage and takes twice the amount of time to approve my petition. This sh!t pisses me off so much.

    Bitter much? :girlwerewolf2xn::wow:

  4. TCO's comments, good or controversial, were always very real and human regardless. As opposed to just strange, odd, irrelevant and unmermorable from others here. TCO is missed!

The basic theory is, as soon as the beneficiary arrives into a poster's life here, the need to continue participating here drops remarkably. Besides, lone websites for social purposes are dead in this new era, post FB.

Too many mainstream social media sites take precedence.

Nothing weird with still participating here, though.

  5. I made under the 125% level of income last year, but this year I'm making more income due to obtaining my CNA license and not going to school anymore (for now) and working more than 40+ hours per week. Am I likely going to be denied because I haven't had the required income for over a certain amount of time? I also have changed jobs this year due to my previous client moving to a Nursing home, and now i'm working in a Nursing home myself.

I just don't want to risk getting denied because of this issue. If it's even a decent chance of denial, my fiance and I would rather just go with the DCF visa option and get married and live together in the Philippines. I just don't want to waste any more time, money, and suffering for something that might turn out to be a big waste....

You are talking about 2 VERY different options. Going away to live with her vs. YOU getting 2 or 3 additional jobs to meet the 125% option.

Please tell us, what is it that you most want to do? It's up to you.

    Peace.

  6. Even when the CHP is around, they speed. And, the CHP is writing more tickets, especially around construction zones. At around $290 a pop, the County of Sonoma is making good money off speeders and red light offenders. This is a tourist area, especially on weekends, and all summer long. If you are a local getting stopped for speeding, it's your own damned fault! Even in Santa Rosa, they get on the area radio stations, and tell you where the speed traps are for the day.

Radio is SO 20th Century....

  7. Hi,

    Appreciate any help.

I came to US in Jan,2009 for doing MS , Graduated on December 2010, Working on OPT also H1b filled by Current employer(decision pending). Got married to My USC gf on 07/06/2012 in Ohio. Currently she working a temporary job in NY . She was NY resident but now she changed her permanent address to OHIO (Joint bank, State ID,Rental Lease all done).

She will be done with her temporary job by September end move back to Ohio Permanently.

In December we are going to my country to do a marriage our cultural/religious way . So now I am confused when would best time for me to file for AOS so that I can get Advance Parole before December 1st and my interview falls after January 1st week.

    Thanks

The best time to file for AOS is ASAP, or soon after you are married. OTOH, there are some cagey types who will chime in with the predictable and hackneyed expression, "There is no time limit for filing the AOS." That is the least helpful statement known to mankind. Because with that approach, why didn't they just wait 5 or 10 yrs to file the AOS? Obviously, there would be trouble with the USCIS is you waited indefinitely to file AOS. For this reason, a petitioner must save up ahead the $1010 needed to file, so he needs to lump in the cost of the K-1 and AOS, and be prepared and keep the ball rolling. Good luck to you, OP for doing just that!

  8. Here is an alternative option. I recently had a friend, who's Pinay wife's mother had an unexpected early death. My Kano friend took a no -nonsense, non-emotional response to it. Simply, the money (about $5000 when ALL expenses were tallied) used for rushing off to the PI suddenly, could be used for better things, like starting a business for his wife here. So instead of rushing off to Cebu on a midnight flight, the $ was used on the living instead of the dead, and the wife remained in the USA and did whatever she could from her computer instead of a costly trip to the PI. Very impressive when the rational mind over rules the emotional. Best wishes for your circumstance.

  9. Gained a lot of weight and then decided to go Vegan (was vegetarian) because the food seems so much different here. On the upside - there are a lot more vegan options available in health stores than there are in Canada!

    I sometimes say soda.

My mom says my accent is more "American".

    That's all for now!

Remember that Wedding Cake is the food that makes women gain the most weight, LOL!

Good for you for trying to do something about it!

  10. Enjoy the float and all of that great food!

We took one cruise, and it will be our last cruise. It's boring, self-indulging, and ya feel like a captive on a ship. Seeing so many fat people just feeding at the trough every day made me sick. I think it was the "Best Hairy Chest" contest on the promenade deck, that put me over the edge. A weekend trip to Vegas,,,,,Now U R talking!

  11. My wife started getting charged a 5000P customs fee when I sent immigration documents to Davao through the post office. I switched to Fedex which was cheaper considering the custom of the local post office turned into demanding a bribe to release them. They got there much faster to.
