Hi Everyone! Just wanted to post quickly about our interview experience. We were approved this morning at the Minneapolis office. Very nice officer who hardly asked any questions. We came 1/2 hour early and were called about 5 minutes before. The entire interview was about 15 minutes long and he asked the typical questions, including birthdays, how we met and our relationship. Then he asked the questions about being a terrorist, etc. and took some photocopies of the pictures we brought. Then he typed on the computer and told us were approved. He did not stamp the passport but said we'd get the card in less than 2 weeks! Thanks everyone for all your help!

my wife filed for AOS to permanent resident in january and our interview is coming up in a few weeks. the day after i filed all the paperwork, i was laid off, and luckily did find another job last month. do i need to fill out form i-864 and bring it to the interview or even send it in before? what else should i know about this situation?

I am going to file for EAD and had a few questions.

I already filed for AOS from F1 in late jan.

1) What supporting documents are required for a canadian citizen? Will a canadian passport and marriage certificate suffice?

2) Do I need to send 2 more pictures?

3) Is current immigration status (#15) student and #16 ©(9)?

The lady took each fingerprint twice, and I noticed that it kept flashing up on screen that my fingerprints were not a good match! My thumbs were okay, but each finger registered a 'warning: match uncertain'. I hope this doesn't mean trouble later down the line! They were most definitely my fingers, so obviously my hands just don't like having fingerprints taken.

Also had a similar problem with biometrics on Thurs. The woman said we might get another notice in the mail if the fingerprints are rejected and have to go back again to confirm that the prints match eachother if they couldn't be verified for whatever reason. Hoping this doesn't push us back in the process.

We just received a notice for AOS initial interview for March 25th. Case status online doesn't show any changes yet. But the I-797 was in my mailbox today. How is it moving this quick? Tiff didn't even get her EAD yet.....

If you did not file for EAD you don't have a chance. The EAD card came in (3) months after we filed, SS card 2 weeks after. <why wouldnt you file for an EAD card when it is free to do so?>

I don't think it's free, I think its an extra $300... we didn't file b/c my spouse is a full time student and isn't planning on working.

Am32, have you received your EAD? If yes, just go to the SSA and apply for a SSN.

No, and didn't apply for one, since my spouse doesn't need to work right now. So does that mean I have to wait until I get the green card? Would I still want to hold off on filing taxes until then or does it not matter?

Does the SS card come with the green card? Does it make a difference to file before the AOS is completed? I was planning on just filing with a form to request a tax ID # for my spouse...

How soon after you file does the SS card arrive? Do I have enough time to wait for this year's returns if we just filed AOS at the end of January?

Just filed AOS forms for my Canadian wife - too bad I didn't see this site earlier. There is a lot of good information here. She is an F1 student and we got married this past summer. We filed late Jan and got our first notice yesterday. It's good to see that it's only taking around 6 mos. total still. If anyone has any questions, let me know and I can try to help.
