  1. I have a few questions and hope there are still some individuals who have adjusted status from a K4 that can help me. I would really appreciate it if there was anyone willing to walk me through some of the questions I have and will come up. One of the questions I have is that on my childrens' visas, the A# is the same as the one I was given. Do I put this A# on their I130 and I485 as their A# s?

    Thanks,

  2. I am trying to download forms to complete AOS from the USCIS site, but when I do my Windows program shuts down because it of the Data Execution Prevention feature. I can not figure out how to change this. I tried the suggestion on the Windows computer help, but how do you add a file from the internet to be accepted? It seems like you can only add files you have on your computer. Please, if anyone has any suggestions. I need help. I have gather everything I need for my AOS, but now I cannot even get the forms. ARGH!!!!

  3. I am looking for the address to mail my EAD application. I am currently on a K3 visa. I am not adjusting status at this time so I am filing my I-765 seperately and paying the $340. I have searched the instructions and cannot find the address to sent my application to under category (a)9. I may be missing it. Does anyone else know what the address is?

    Thank you so much.

  4. I was told to throw out the scales and just take body measurements and use them as an indicator of how you are doing. This is really true if you started an exercise program since you are gaining muscle and losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less room. I think that is why my weight loss has been so slow. I have only lost 6 pounds now but I have lost 2 inches off my hips and 3.5 off my waist, unfortunately my thighs are still huge LOL.

  5. Hugglebuggles, It is hard to fit healthy eating habits into starting a new business. Hang in there. I know one thing that worked for me was cooking and prepping meals on Sunday for the week. I cut up lots of celery because I love eating celery and natural peanut butter for a snack. I also cut up other veggies to grab on the run and have some almonds around for protien. A quick protien shake can also be very nice with a piece of fruit. Hang in there.

  6. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I find it is a great way to eat. I also keep track of my nutritional information at sparks people. I find it is very time consuming to prepare things, but try to do a few days at a time which helps. Who knew that chopping veggies takes so long. LOL The biggest benefit I have seen to eating clean is I have started to sleep at night and I no longer have cravings for sugar. I was a complete sugar addict before. The weird things is that when I see something like cheese cake or think of something I used to love to eat. I do not feel any craving or need to have it at all, but my mouth waters. It is the weirdest thing. HAHA

  7. I weighed in at 154.6 pounds this morning.

    Jan 1 - 160 pounds

    Feb 18 - 154.6

Yes I know it is slow, but I do have to say that I have gained a lot of muscle so I am proud of myself. Been eating the clean way promoted by Tosca Reno. I love it and get to eat tons. I can't afford to buy all the ingredients she suggests because a lot of them are unusual but I still make it acceptable to the eat clean program. Does anyone else use her nutrition advice?

  8. I find it interesting that so many people have mentioned losing weight and then gaining it all back. Maybe you have all heard it before haha but unless people are willing to change the way they eat for life, most people's weight will yo yo all their life. How many people eat as close to nature as possible? I am intersted to know.

  9. I am in. I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of January. So far I have lost 5 lbs. Is is not as much as I would like, but I have gained a lot of muscle. I go to the gym 5 days a week usually for one and one half hours. I want to lose 20 pounds. I currently weigh 155 pounds.

  10. Would you mind answering a few questions for me. I am interested in doing the same thing as you.

What was the length of time between submitting you EAD application and your biometrics appointment? When you got the letter for the biometrics appoint, what was the wait between the letter arrival date and the actual appointment?

    Thanks.

  11. Okay this question may seem wierd, but please bear with me.

I have received my visa in my passport. It has an expiration date two years from the interview date. So am I too assume that a K3 visa only requires that you give your information to customs and is not an activation like the K1 visas. Do I have to cross within a certain time frame of 6 months like the K1 visa holders?

The lady at the consulate said that when I go down that my children and I should all go down at the same time. I wanted to visit my husband before a time when the children can come with me. Is it possible to go down without submitting your package so I can submit it when my children and I are together? I know that a K3 is a multi-entry visa so the concern I have is submitting all our envelopes at the sametime.

    Thanks,

    S.

  12. I got my interview date in Vancouver about 2 months after my packet three information was sent. I sent my information to the consulate on November 19 and got an interview on January 13, 2010 for my K3. I did request to have it on a Wednesday, the same day as my medical. I am not sure if requesting to have a Wednesday interview makes your weight longer or not, but I suspect it may.

  13. Thanks for all your input. I think I will take the whole family down in March and activate our K3/K4. We will however, not be moving permanently until the end of June. I need to stay at my job until the middle or end of June because I have a commitment to train someone and I also want to give the children an opportunity to finish their school year.

If I apply for my EAD in March, is it acceptable to come back to Canada and continue working until I move permanently. Hopefully then my EAD will be approved and I will be able to find employment right away or qualify for EI. Has anyone ever done this?

  14. My visa was approved. Due to fact that I didn't think it would happen as quick as it did, we had our move planned for June. Can I go down and visit my husband in March without activating my visa? The consulate officer said that when we activated our visa (my three children and myself) that we needed to go across at the same time. My understanding is that it has to do with the information about custody, maybe it is only in my package. I don't know. Anyway, that really messes up my planned visit in March since the children were going to be spending that time with their Dad.

I also don't want to mess up my eligibility of EI once I get work authorization. Anyone with experience or opinions???

  15. The request for previous marriage certificates was missing from my checklist. I would not of even brought mine if I had not been on VJ and knew that they were requested at one time.

Thanks everyone. Yes, we were so lucky to have our interview in Vancouver. It took us just over 6 months for our approval from the day we filed.

  16. Our K3/K4 visa's came a lot quicker than expected. It took 196 days from our I-130 NOA1 date which is just over 6 months. I am so grateful. We were counting on it taking a year so our move date is still June since I have to wait until the kids are out of school. Life is so crazy sometimes.

  17. My three children and I arrived at the Woking Medical Clinic at 6:20 a.m. We got numbers 15, 16, 17, and 18. We definately should of been there earlier. It was lots of waiting but we made it through. Had to fill out forms for me and all three children. I was the only one that had to give blood and have an x ray taken since my children are all under the age of 15. We were done at the clinic at just after 11 a.m. We were the last ones to leave.

We arrived at the consulate at 12:30. The guards were very friendly. We went for a short walk and they let us in at 12:40. The consulate was very busy. We were the first K visa to arrive. It was lots of waiting, but I really didn't mind. The lady who helped us was very very busy since there seem to be a mix up in the scheduling. She took my information. I had one mix up. The bank had given me two copies of the same receipt instead of pages two and three of the receipt. She was unsure that they could accept them. I also had taken a copy which is not allowed, whoops sorry. The only good thing was that my copies were exactly the same and had two copies of the same one instead of a 2 and a 3 so she accepted them. I was very grateful.

The new check list for the Vancouver consulate does not say you need the marriage certificate for your previous marriages but you still do. I had mine, but not my spouse's. The interviewer allowed it to pass and signed it off. I sent my son by taxi to pick up the medical result after we were finger printed. The interviewer did not ask me hardly any questions which surprised me. I think there was a total of three questions asked that was not related to "do you have the original or copy for this or that". It was as pleasant an experience that it can be when someone has your life and future in their hands. The staff at the embassy were very kind and helpful.

I am grateful to all the help that VJ was to me. The lady commented that I was very organized. I know it would of been a totally different experience if I had not had the information provided by other members on this site. My husband and I are so grateful. Thank you everyone.

  18. I am not sure I understand you. My husband and I got married without a divorce decree but we were both legally divorced and able to legally get married. If you were both divorced then you have done nothing wrong in getting married. You must however have a proof of your divorce if you were previously married when filing your paper work for immigration. Never lie. Order the divorce decree and when it arrives send in your paperwork.

  19. My spouse and I are well below the poverty line for our family size, but we are not poor. We have everything we need and we are able to meet the fees needed for the immigration process. We do not drive an expensive vehicle, we live in a modest home, we stay out of debt, and we work hard and have fun. Like a previous poster said, it is a matter of priorities.
