Well I decided to call them today (I gave them a few more days) and before I called I thought it couldn't hurt to check the online status thingy one more time.
GREEN CARD MAILED TODAY! Good thing I checked to avoid embarrassing myself by complaining. Wow, it feels great to have one less thing off my back haha.
Thanks all and see you again soon for naturalization!

Hello!
Tiny, but hopefully resulting in happy results, update. I called USCIS twice today and:
First call: "It looks like they're still under initial review-wait". Riveting.
Second call: Service agent saw my stuff was wayyy over processing times and put in a service request for me. They have 15 days to respond with an update/expedite stuff... If not, I follow up with them w. my service request number.
Lesson: Try try and try again!
Random related anecdote: I was in NYC for a friend's wedding this weekend, and a friend of the wedding peeps is an immigration attorney there. He told me this: best days to call are Wednesdays and Thursdays and after lunch. He was dead right--both of my calls had me on the line with someone in less than 3 minutes. Handy to know!
Fingers crossed--may USCIS good joojoo smile down on me soon!
xxM
I think I'm in the same boat as you. I was going to ask about my long wait time after RFE response! Looks like I'll be calling them today

FedEx'd my RFE response today. Hopefully I will be back in a couple weeks letting y'all know we've been approved!

Sorry to hear about this.
Question: When you say you gave them bank account info, are these joint accounts with co-mingled assets? Can you document that after you got married, you made your accounts joint and show that this has continued? That would have more weight, also insurance policies with each other as beneficiaries. They want to see you act as one from the time that you are married, they don't care about time prior (that's important to get the visa).
Good luck, KP
Yes, we have always had joint bank accounts. The bank info I gave them included the statement when we opened a car loan with this account. We have two bank accounts: one from when we first got married and one that we opened a year and a half later due to finding a better bank which we financed a car through. I sent statements from both accounts.
From the tone of the letter it really seems like all they want from me is more bank account statements, but I'm scared that won't be enough. Also, about a month after I sent the package, we financed a new car through our bank. Is that something else I should send or will they not care as it was after the original submission?
Thanks!

Honey, throw them the KITCHEN SINK from K-1 to ROC. As much of it as you can. Let them sort it out, haha.
My husband and I got dinged for the same thing. Smooth sailing right up to ROC, then just when everyone else in our group was getting their approved letters in January, we went to the post and saw a blue paper in our USCIS envelope. I nearly died.
So, we collected every bill, bank statement, doctor's appointment, trip itinerary (tickets, etc.), car insurance statement and receipts from joint purchases that we could find, got our landlord to write a letter and sign it with his phone number and business card (which we attached to a copy of the same lease we'd already sent), printed out my husband's Facebook page with a post pleading to all our friends and family in the US and England to leave testimonial comments (we got dozens of replies), went to Walgreens and reprinted our photo collages from our K-1, AOS and ROC filings, and sent in the whole lot. I got my employer to draft a letter naming my husband as my beneficiary on benefits and life insurance. John also made a DVD with links to all of our YouTube videos (we do a video blog together) from all the years we've been together.
While you may not have the same things, you just might have enough stuff saved up to help you out. Go through it, pull out anything that you think will help your case, and stuff it into an envelope, girl. Then, write the most heartfelt cover letter you ever wrote in your entire life. I practically begged USCIS to come to our home, call our employers, our doctor, our landlord. LOL. It worked. We got our approval last week. Miraculously, we did all of this without a joint bank account or joint tax transcripts.
Be strong. You will get through this, I swear! x
THANK YOU!!! It really makes me feel better to hear this from someone else that went through the same thing - Especially from England, too! The Facebook thing sounds pretty incredible, I may try that. I just HATE that I even have to do this, you know?
Thanks again to everyone as all of these recommendations have been super helpful and have made me feel more at ease. I guess now I just have to work my butt off getting all this stuff together which I really am not looking forward to. USCIS will be getting a BOX of stuff from me

I'm trying to get something from his life insurance policy showing that I'm the beneficiary, but I'm not sure if I can dig up our old boarding passes. I really thought I sent those, but maybe I didn't. We're on separate health insurance policies at the moment.
I'm mostly frustrated because I spent so much time preparing evidence for his visa interview and they didn't even LOOK at it! Now all my work isn't enough

Hi Everyone...
I got an RFE today basically telling me that I don't have enough proof that we are financially commingled (silly word). I understand that it may be my fault that I didn't send enough bank statements for the entire length of our marriage, but I honestly didn't think it was necessary to send ALL of them because I thought the rest of what I sent was pretty good.
The only thing I can think to do is send them all of our bank statements and loan statements for the 3 years of our marriage, but it seems like so little that I'm scared it won't be enough! Is there anything else anyone can advise? We don't have kids, own any kind of property, or have any joint credit cards (they're all in individual names).
Please note, this is what I sent them originally:
- joint tax return transcripts
- apartment lease with both names
- two utilities bills, one in his name and one in mine (they won't let us put two names), but with the same address
- our car title showing both our names
- 3 bank statements for one of our accounts spread out over 2 years
- 2 bank statements for our newer bank account spread out over 1 year
They did note twice on their list of what they have that "this statement covers a limited period of time during your marriage."
Thanks for all your help!

As I've been anxiously awaiting my approval letter, I got something I NEVER thought we would get: the dreaded RFE.
I am EXTREMELY frustrated with this as I spent so much time collecting this and I basically sent them everything I had:
Apt lease with both names
Our joint tax return transcripts
Car title with both names
Several bills in his name or my name with same address (all of our utilities will only put one name on the bill)
Bank statements from our two bank accounts - which apparently a couple statements scattered throughout our marriage isn't enough
They are asking for:
"Joint ownership of assets"
"Joint responsibility for liabilities"
"An active commingling of finances for the duration of the marriage"I can get more bank statements and possibly his life insurance policy with me as the beneficiary, but does anyone have any other recommendations? We have no kids, no house, all our credit cards are individual... we're only 25 and I don't want to write a will yet! At this point I just want to interview to show them in person. I feel like it would be a lot less hassle.
Thanks as always for everyone's help. I would have never made it this far without yall!

You did right by starting here! I felt the same as you at the beginning. It can all be soooo overwhelming. My husband and I were 20 and 21 years old when we sent his I-129F. We had no money, he couldn't get a job, I was a college student working as a substitute teacher. I honestly don't think we could have made it this far this smoothly without the help from the wonderful people on this forum. I'm not going to lie there were some pretty stressful times, but just know that whatever extra efforts you make will give you the piece of mind.
I went the K1 interview with my husband and I actually enjoyed that day as much as our wedding... It was an incredible feeling of accomplishment!

WooooHoooo!!!! We just got our approval letter from..........VERMONT!!!!!
Approval date is March 21, 2013......Permanent Resident Card to follow within 60 days.
Congrats!!! I was so excited to see a VSC approval

Does he have the biometrics letter with their stamp and signature? The receipt number of the biometrics letter is what you'll need to track his case on the USCIS site. If he plans to travel then an infopass may be what you need. To get a job it depends, he can show his social security card, driver's license, etc.
Thanks for the advice! The problem is that the biometrics letter was misplaced shortly after the appointment. We're not too worried about travel at the moment since his family has been visiting us instead. As for employment, his SS card has the stamp stating that another form of employment verification is needed (i.e. green card/EAD). I've read that the passport stamp is more for travel so I'm guessing that isn't going to help us
Have you heard of any other way to prove that he is legal to work here?

Hi everyone! I haven't been on this forum for a while and I'm in the September 2012 ROC group
I do have a quick question: My husband misplaced the NOA when we went in for his biometrics. Sooo, I don't have any proof that he has filed or have a case number. Does anyone know if I can call to get another or at least get my case number? I'm a little worried as he might be getting a new job soon...
I've been pretty bad about keeping up with this ever since he finally was able to move here and we got married haha.
Thanks for all your help as always!
-
I just went on the USCIS website to get the number and figured I'd check the status one last time and....
The greencard is in the mail! Apparently, it was approved on Sept. 15th and now we should be getting it within the next month.
So, it seems maybe there were a few stragglers and let's hope that's what happening with yours, too!
-
same for us, we got transfered and then no news...I saw my document been touched once around a month and a half ago and still no news... I never got more than 1 letter to say they had transfered the case.
At least we're not the only ones then. Looks like I'll be calling to check up tomorrow.
I also noticed yall were married the day after us
-
We have been looking at all the time lines similar to ours, and pretty much everyone before and after us has already had their AOS approved and have got greencards. Even as far as someone who filed 2 after us, and got their green card 2 months ago.
We did get transfered to California service center, and have heard nothing since then.
We are starting to get worried about it all since its coming up to a year since he got here.
-
Thanks! I knew I read that somewhere and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't just dreaming it
We'll go ahead and send all of the forms then.
-
I believe I read somewhere on this site before that the EAD fee is waived when you apply for it with the I-485. Is this true or has it changed? Because when I looked at the USCIS website it said the EAD was another $300 or so. Just wondering if its really worth the extra $300 if its gonna take 3 months to get it and only work for a couple months before getting the green card.
Thanks!

That's what my fiance was told, too. Not only that, but it had to be at least a week before the interview!
-
My fiancee was at the interview yes, infact they actually spoke to her more than me which I found strange since its me whos meant to be interviewed!
-
Finally arrived today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!
Edit: oops, posted with Haleys account!
-
Ours was approved on the 22nd, so hopefully ours will be a similar date! How did you find out? Text message?
-
I ask because there are certain limitations to rights with the non-immigrant status. After filing the AOS and he is a permanent resident, does that give him all the rights of a US resident, or are there still non-immigrant restrictions until he has completed citizenship in a few years?
-
I just want it cleared up whether the K1 visa is immigrant or non immigrant because I read somewhere on here before that it has been changed from non immigrant to immigrant.
Also, what is the legal status of my fiance after we get married and he gets a greencard. Is he still considered a non immigrant or a resident alien?

Forgot to mention! We received my husbands greencard on 8/30. So glad this part is over
Hope everyone else who is waiting hangs in there
