  1. my brother had his I-129f approved in december. We were expecting the next communication to come from the consulate however we received fee bills (AOS and IV)... which we paid and now the NVC automated line says a packet of information has been sent.

From all the flowcharts and guides on VJ the only time NVC fees seem to come into play is when they are processing an approved I-130. USCIS does not have his I-130 marked as approved.

    Any thoughts??

  2. My wife had her medical exam (her interview is scheduled for 6/26/09), the doctor wrote in the report that one of the vaccines when she was very young was done at the wrong the age (and possibly that a series of vaccines are invalid). She said he was very ill-tempered and didn't explain anything to her just rushed her out. Now she is very worried how this will effect her interview. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? Can she get the vaccines now and bring proof to the interview? retake her medical exam?

    Any help is appreciated... thanks

  4. hello,

I will be getting married in May in Colombia. I am totally confused as to what it is that the Notary public needs there. They ask me for a Cedulla and we dont have that in the US. They also want a copy of my divorce decree in Spanish ApostilledDo I do that here in the US or in Colombia? Why would I need to send my divorce decree to the department of state if it has the seal of the court here in Nevada saying that I am divorced??

I am totally confused and stressed, I call the notary publics in Colombia but they dont seem to know. Can someone plz help me with this if you have been through this in Colombia. Thank you.

    Here's what I did:

Birth Certificate (apostilled) -- I had to go the NJ Dept of Health and Senior Services. Ordered the BC.. found out it takes 8 business hours...picked it up the next day...mailed it to my wife in Bogota and she had it translated by a Notaria

Divorce Decree (apostilled) -- I had to go to the County Court House where the divorce was finalized and pick up the "gold seal" document (certified by a Judge and the court clerk). This was ordered a week in advance, but the normal processing time is 4 weeks. mailed to my wife and she had it translated.

  5. Hi qixbr referred me here...Thanks

    Our case completed yesterday...per AVR.

Nope...Bogota embassy lists case # and interview date assigned by the 15th of the month before (May 15th for me)

Wait, so your interview is gonna be on the 15th? I didn't understand it very well... WHat we know is that NVC will assing interview dates by the second week of May, but those dates will probably for June, and we might call back NVC to find out that date before it even gets to the embassy.

You should still stop by our topic to let people know about that news, share experiences, it might be helpful to someone :)

No, I find out on May 15th when the interview will be (most likely June). I'll be in Colombia May 1st through 10th... I haven't seen my wife since January so we'll be too busy with other things to worry about anything else.

  7. Our case completed yesterday...per AVR.

42 days at USCIS and 42 days at NVC... my new favorite number.

Hopefully i'll never need to dial 603-334-0700 again.

Thank you to all the VJ'ers that helped with their posts and tips, it really did make it much easier to go through the process.

BTW... I had all of my NVC doc's ready to go (used LingChe) and could not have saved any more time on my end. NVC is just not moving as fast as they used too.

Good luck to everyone on your journeys!!!

  8. Hi all,

I am confused whether the petitioner will have to send in their original birth certificate for NVC processing (DS-230 and I-864). I have heard people here said that it's not necessary for petitioner to mail in their original birth certificate.

On the State Dept website (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html) it says:

"The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity)."

    Please advice.

Petitioner does NOT send a birthcertificate with the DS-230 or I-864

  9. Hi everyone i just tried to log on the NVC website and received this error msg. does this mean theyve completed my case?? I hope so. if not, how soon should i expect it. thanks so much. van

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

I got the same message this morning... When I called NVC, the operator said they should be making their decision on the completeness of the DS-230 shortly. :D:dance:

    which NVC website?

the one for electronic bill payment

  10. Today I called the NVC and the lady said it was ok if I didn't send in a police certificate as the station in Pakistan won't make us one til we have a letter from the embassy, and that my wife should take the police certificate to her interview.

BUT she said something which has me worried: that I need to send in the ORIGINAL birth and marriage certificates with my DS230 I+II. Really? The originals? That doesn't seem right. What has been your experience?

It says "original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity)."

So if I have official translations of the documents, can I just send those?

I send originals of everything except the police certificate

  11. Hello All,

My case is now officially complete. Now its the 1 month wait to find out about interview.

Congratulations... by your timeline I should be looking at approval by Wednesday.

  12. Well, there is a chance it can be a false RFE.

Since you haven't sent your IV packet yet, it can be them asking for the DS-230. The only way you can find out and calling and talking to an operator. :)

False RFE??? the whole process is screwed up

The IV bill was generated (and paid) on 4/9 --- status changed to paid on 4/10 --- cover page printed and DS-230 FedEx'd for Monday delivery 4/10

    Thanks for the hope

  13. I called this morning and the message was updated from yesterday afternoon. I just went through my copy and I don't see anything wrong. The only thing I can think is 2008 tax information.

I called NVC prior to sending and explained my 2008 would be going on extension. I was told not to submit any 2008 information and that it would be fine.

    I sent:

    --transcripts for 2005, 2006, 2007

--note regarding 2008 extension (including name of NVC rep I spoke to)

--my 3/30/09 paystub that included year to date information (6x the required income level)

--Letter from my employer stating length of service, position, and salary

    --I-864 (signed)

    --barcoded cover sheet

Now I have to wait all weekend just wondering :crying:

  14. Hi my parent sent Email to NVC DS 3032 choice address of agent on March 23 then they got automatic respond, and they haven't receive anything after that.

they decided to resend it again on March 31 same thing got automatic respond. so usually NVC will send me or my parent email let us know that they have receive DS 3032 and put on to the system? when I called NVC the automatic message have not change to receive DS 3032 yet!!

    thank you

We emailed on the 25th and it hasn't been processed yet either.

  15. Agreed. It usually takes week or less than that to process a properly filled out DS-3032.

I think NVC is processing quite a bit slower these days. My DS-3032 went in 12 days ago and still hasn't been processed. I had all of the forms completed the day after VSC approved the I-130 and it looks like it's going to be at least 6 weeks to get out of NVC.

  16. So my wife had her interview today at the Montreal Consulate, and everything went well until they reviewed tax returns. They said that since its tax season now, they want my 2008 tax returns. This is unfair as my tax returns are not DUE for another 2 weeks! My income was more than sufficient from 2005-2007. I'm so down. This process has taken SO long. Now have to rush my tax returns, mail them, and then sit and wait. Does anyone know what the required minimum is for a 2 person household in the U.S.? If I'm not above it, I'll need a 2nd affidavit of support. Please help...

Sorry to hear that... I hope I don't run into the same problem. My 2008 is going on extension until the fall.
