  1. any VAWA updates?? I haven't got anything in the mail

    its been 7 month?

i filed I-360 with the VSC 14 months ago, still nothing, good luck to you all

I filed I-360 in jan of 2008, nothing doing, so far. So glad I discovered visajourney, gives me hope that I'm not the only one going through all these waiting, anticipation and fear. God Bless and good luck to us all!

isn t miserable, to make us wait all this period of timeand then, ask for more evidence, if not denied, and then make us wait over and over again? bubbles, did you file with VSC?

Hi Dido, yes, my lawyer filed the application and I check processing times at VSC. My 2nd prima facie expired 3/30/09, the paralegal said that "maybe" my case is almost done. Approved or denied, we're not sure, God only knows and it's all up to Him. Anyway, don't worry, everyday that passes by is a step closer to the end of our waiting.

Did you (or your lawyer) request an extension of prima facie after your second one expired? or are you just waiting for final decision?

hi bubbles, i got 3 extensions, the last one expired may 25, and they told us that i will have an answer within 150 days, 72 days left since they said that, i did not want to file another extension, am tired of all this BS, i just want to leave soon and go back home, am waisting my time, life dowsn t wait, ileft everything to allah, am not worried anymore, it will be fine both ways, if i got it or not

Hi Dido, you had 3 extensions that should be tiring i swear but maybe thats the end of the journey.I have a question, did you manage to have a stae ID with your prima facie...or anyone who did please let me know.

  2. hi bubbles14la when did file ? did you got any RFE? and who the one told you your cas almost done

Hi dido and yahya, I actually received RFE just today. I found records of when I had to go to the ER, twice, 8/06 and 4/07, because I developed migraines due to stress from what happened to me.

My lawyer said that I have to go to the police station to get police clearance as evidence of good moral character. Since I don't have legal papers, I'm really scared to go there. Did any of you have to do that? I already sent everything to my lawyer when we filed the I-360. The paralegal said that she included all of them.

By the way, Yahya, the paralegal told me that the reason why I was not sent another prima facie is because "maybe" my case is almost done.

Hi Bubbles, dont be scared to go to police station, they wont do anything to you,all you have to do is to tell them that immigration needs police clearance and they should be able to give it to you.I have done it but my lawyer is the one who didi it forme,I also had to do it for my job.All you need is a SSN or your passport.I hope you will feel better after i wrote this to you.If you need anything you may aks me.

  3. Hi all,

I had my VAWA petition approved in May 2006 followed by the interview in September 2006. After the interview the officer told me that I would receive the answer in the mail in a few weeks. I haven't received anything yet. Everytime i check the status on my case i get the same answer "it is under further review or in background check"...I dont know what to think at this time, it's been almost 3 years since i was approved and no green card...Did anybody experienced something like this in a VAWA case? Is there anything to do but wait?

    Thanks,

    Ella.

Hi Ella,i`m so sorry about that but at the same time it doesn`t make sense.I have never heard such a thing.Do you have a lawyer probably he/she must do a serious follow up.You even scaring me.Could you please tell me what kind of questions they asked you in the interview.Good luck Ella

    Hi--

I dont mean to scare you at all this is may case history and I am sure yous will be different.

At the interviw the officer didn't ask me anything pertinent to the case. Just Whats my name, social security, where I live and he asked me to sign a paper to confirm I was at the interview. All in 5 minutes and I had my layer with me, but it didn't make a difference.

    Hope that helps!

    Good luck to you too...

    wow,thanks for the interview advice

  4. Yes, I would think expression a strong desire to go home while a VAWA petition is being decided would not be in the applicant's best interests.
i file i360 back in november 08 and VSC sent me RFE good moral character in december i got my prima facie in january for 180 days , idid alot of search about vawa and read some tips

her and thier its sems its take along time to approve (up to 14 mounth) and it possible they sent me another prima facie extnded but i relly in rush and i have to go home and im tired of watting i did try to expedite due to my divorice and custdy issu i sent aletter back in february and i havent got any thing from them i was just wendring any body have any idea about process time for vawa or any thing i could do i want to write alrtter to the congresman but my lawyer told me its not going to helpe , imean its not faer after you wait for i130 to approved , crazy wife withdrew the i130 and have to wait anther year for i360  any body out thier have the expirens befor

    thanks to all

Hi,I`m so sorry about what you going through.my thoughts to you is to be as patient as you can, because if you rush the USCIS,you might have a bad luck and not even get it.I want to go home too so bad but i`m so patient.so take it easy

Be Patient, I've been waiting for 14 months and 3 weeks, my case is still pending, I'm out of the processing time and it's still pending, you have to be patient, VAWA take a while before u get a decision, writing to your congressman at this point does not make sense since you are within processing time, that won't help. Just be patient, there's people that waited 4 years to be approved. Hang in there, your VAWA journey will one day end.

True that Guyana,if you become impatient you making things worse.I`m as patient as possible and sometimes its annoying.

  5. My interview was in May 2006. Only questions off I-485 were asked and I was asked to give the officer a copy of my divorce decree. Thats it

    Timeline:

    03/01/2003 - I-360 filed

    12/19/2005 - I-360 approved

    05/14/2006 - I-485 interview

    08/26/2006 - GC received

thanks! what if i dont have a divorce decree?

You might be asked what are you waiting for,i`m busy doiung that right now, incase they ask me about divorce degree

  8. Hi mmasechaba,

    thank you so much.

Hanah Congrats, I'm happy everything went will for you, I am expecting an RFE for Moral character as well since I didn't send it with my application, I lived in Boston with my wife, after we separated I moved to NJ, I went back to Boston to get the police certificate but they said they have no record in the system and cannot issue me a certificate until USCIS request it, also I went to the local police dept. here in NJ for the certificate, they said I needed a ssn. So yea I am expecting a RFE for that, and maybe a few more things...

Hi LostinNJ,im so sorry to here that but you have to work on that right away.most definately they will look for that, goodluck

Thanks, yea I figure I wait for the RFE then take it to the local police and the police in Boston, and I really hate going back to Boston, so much memories I have to deal with, and the worries of having to run into my wife, she's the last person this planet I ever want to see.. And I miss my daughter, I haven't seen her in almost 2 years, but hopefully I get approved that way I know I can see my kid for sure.

Everything will workout for you, keep on praying

  10. Hi,

Does anyone understand the processing times for vawa from the uscis chart, they dont make no sense to me.

They are now working on cases filed Dec 17th, 2007, it's just an estimated time, so even though it say 17th Dec, 2007, they may already be working on cases filed, for 2008, and hopefully a decision will be made on mine soon, I'm at February 2008. Fingers crossed

Wow,i just filed mine in January 2009,have not received anything yet.good luck and can you plese keep me posted with your filling.I will too.

  11. Hey guys! with my Prima Facie Notice I also got this front cover page, does everyone also get this kind of front cover page from Vermont Service Center?

    Dear Sir/Madam:

On January, 2009, you filed a Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er) or Special

Immigrant (Form I-360) on your own behalf as the abused spouse or child of a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident. Your file is currently at our office and is still pending Service consideration.

However, due to recent changes in processing, a decision on your petition has been delayed. Files from another office are required to complete the adjudication of your case. We can give no definite time frame for when your petition will be adjudicated. Once the necessary files are received, your case will be handled in an expeditious manner. We apologize for the delay.

    Sincerely,

    Center Director

Nope never got that front cover..

Do you have an attorney, maybe you should ask him and if not,did they sent you a list of which files are missing. If not then i guess there is nothing to worry about unless if they have sent you another letter for you,to submit more documents.Just stay input.

  12. I have a question to anyone who might have an idea.Is it possible to apply for a state ID or drivers licence with a prima facie.

u 'll most likely to have to show proof of residence in most states.

I do have that,im just wondering if do i need more info to provide to them

I don't think you can, I tried, they said I needed my social security card and form I-797 notice of action on an approved petition. Maybe other states are different, I'm in NJ

Ok,I do have a SSN,but wondering if i can pull it through. Thanks for your input dear,im in VA

  13. hi lostinNJ

How is everything going with you?. if your Prima Facie is expired yet? Do you have to renew it again or if they send you a new one automaticly? I know how hard it can be just wait and wait. I am really hope for the best for you and hope you hear from them soon. pls let us know if there are any news from them

    good luck

I have not received a prima facie yet.

  14. I'm just curious about the progress of VAWA filers.

    My timeline is as follows;

Sent package to Vermont on April 7th.

Got prima facie on April 15th

Prima facie expired and got a new one in October.

    Still waiting.

I will be sending in more info (like letter from my therapist etc) next week.

Basically, it's just been a long wait. Fortunately, I just recently discovered that I can apply for Federal Financial Aid for college based on my prima facie determination. I wish they would allow us to file for an EAD, though. The waiting is the worst part especially now that I'm on break from school. I am actually yearning for school to start.

    How is everyone else coping?

Hi,I`m on the same situation as you.But i have just filed for my I360 and waiting for my report from my immigration therapist. My wish is to go to college in August but i thought i would need to wait for my paprework to be done before i do that.can you explain to me more about that please.

What i would like to know is do i take that prima facie determination to college with me and do the colleges understand about that document. Please elaborate that for me.
