  1. Mash-allah, congratulations=) That's really exciting news. My wife's interview is next week and I'm hoping, Ins-allah, all goes well. I just don't know how long it will take them to return their passports? Please keep us posted! Thanks....and once again, congrats!

Thank You! They said they will contact her within 2 weeks to pick up her passport, however, the very next day (June 4), they called and said her passport was ready to be picked up, so she got it back.

  2. Hi everyone,

My wife's interview was yesterday, June 3rd and she got her visa. I am very happy and excited. She got her passport back today. Here's what they asked:

    1) Why are you here today?

    2) What does your husband do?

    3) Why do you want to go to U.S.?

    4) When was the last time you saw your husband? When did he visit?

    5) Was it an arranged marriage?

    6) What is your husband's favorite food? Did you cook it for him when he was here? Did he like it?

    7) Do you have kids?

The thing is they returned the original documents before the interview. I am not sure if it's a standard procedure or if it means they had already decided on issuing the visa. Anyway, I would like to thank everyone here at VJ for their support and valuable information. I wish everyone good luck on their journey's.

  4. Probably will be fine, but if it makes you feel better perhaps an extra staple or two should be OK too.

Okay thanks, but if we put a couple of staples on it would the embassy object?

    Envelop is not sealed?

That's what I asked my wife because it is supposed to be sealed but she said that the only thing on there is loose staple pin. Any suggestions?

  5. Hi everyone, help me out here please. Here is the story:

My wife picked up her medical today and as soon as she got home everything came out of the envelope. There was only 1 staple pin holding the envelope together. She went back and got a new one but our concern is that since it's only held together by 1 staple pin it might break again. Is it okay to put a couple of staples on it to make it more secure or just be very careful and leave it as is? All help would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Hi everyone,

I received an email from NVC last night containing her interview letter. My question is whether NVC will also send her the appointment letter by mail in Pakistan since she does not have an email address. Thanks in advance!

No they will not send her anything in PK, Didn't you give NVC her email address. Anyway, you can email or mail her that interview letter. She will need it for Medical and for interview. Good luck!!!!!

    Okay, thanks!

  8. hey Guys,

So i am a US Citizen applying for my wife she resides in Karachi, Pakistan.

We got married back in Jan, ok so i applied for k3 and 1-130.

Everything is going smooth until i received a letter from NVC regarding my I-130 Submittal. The letter was for AOS (Affidavitt of support)

So i talked to a rep over at NVC she told me if i have applied for K3 and thts the route i am choosing then i need to send in paperwork letting them know tht i will be adjusting my status.

The question that i have for people specially in Pakistan is that:

Should i wait for 1-130 or give preference to K3 route. Which is faster especially in pakistan...

    Please advise..

    thanks

I do not know much about the K3 route, but if I was in your situation I would definitely go with I130 because currently it's faster than K3. My case was completed in less than 7 months from the date of NOA1. You may want to look at my timeline or other members on this board to get a rough idea. Good Luck!

  9. Does anyone know how much has to be paid on the day of the interview? Thanks in advance.

    None.although visa fee is $400.00.

Before there was an option that the US petitioner can pay NVC or benificiary can right before interview in the embassy. But now it is collected by NVC before processing the visa application DS-230.So as far as i know ,nuthing has to be paid.

    Okay, Thanks for the info.

  10. My wife's police certificate states that it is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. The certificate would expire on 5/9/09. My attorney has sent the AOS/IV documents last week to NVC, however, they are not in their system yet. Supposing that they start to review my case next week, will the expiration date on the police certificate be an issue? All answers will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

for this purpose the validity period is 1 yr

Thanks for your prompt reply, but why is it considered to be valid for 1 year?

because that is what the department of state decided

My husband's police certificate expires on 4/30. We're almost done with the NVC but I'm going to have him get an updated one for the interview which will probably be in June. They're fairly cheap and easy to get so why not. I don't want to take any chances on interview day.

    Okay, Thanks for your help!
