  1. Hi all I got an interview letter yesterday and they ask for few papers

medical examination and vaccines ( unless submitted)

    I-865 unless submitted

I had a medical examination March 8th 2009 back home and enclosed it in my k3 visa packet ,and its valid for one year , do i still need another one ?

and i submitted -1865 with AOS packet so i guess i dont need one ?

    Thanks

What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and

already had a medical exam overseas?

    A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a

    B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3

spouse of a U.S. citizen, and

    C. You received a medical examination prior to

    admission, then-

    a. You are not required to have another medical

examination as long as your Form I-485,

Application to Register Permanent Residence or

Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your

    overseas medical examination.

    b. You will, however, be required to complete Part

1, Information about you, and submit the

vaccination section of Part 2 with your

adjustment of status application. A designated

civil surgeon must complete the vaccination

section and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's

    Certification.

I had problem understanding this form also and had called the USCIS 5 times in one day to confirm this. I got different answers but i still did go to a civil surgeon with my DS 3025 together with this instruction from the form. Note : set an appointment and explain to them your situation that you you had your exams and vaccinations before and will just let the civil surgeon sign the Part 5 of the I-693.

    Good luck..

Do you received tons of things that you needed to bring for the interview?

  2. Apply ONLY in the name as it appears in your passport. It does not matter if you say you will be married, change your name or otherwise. It is not necessary to mention this. Change the name on the card after you get your gren card, IF you want, you do not have to.

Actually, you can apply for a SSN and change your name at once. I did it without problems about three weeks ago.

What they did was - they entered my maiden name into the system (one from my passport) and right away changed it to the one I took after the wedding. That is how I got my first-ever SSN number issued. I never had to apply for a card in my maiden name and then change it.

You don't have to wait for your green card or anything else to change your name to your married name. It's all really easy and simple.

I wonder why my SSN havent arrived yet. I have applied with my married name on it and they said that it will take 8 weeks for me to receive my SSN. I have called them again this week to follow up my number and they say that since im under K1 it will take another 8 weeks. Is this normal?

    Thanks!

  3. Hi. First of all... I want to say that this site and this board are a Godsend.

Now onto my question. I keep seeing that the 325A form needs to have all FOUR pages filled out and signed. I seem to remember four identical pages before when looking at it... but now when I download the form it only shows one page. Has there been a recent change to where only one page is required?... or am I simply doing something wrong?

And a prefatory thanks to anyone who can help.

Its the newest version as of June 12, 2009 (i think). Please look at the upper right portion of the forms and you will notice the validity of dates. Compare it. The 4-page form still valid as long as you submitted it before the revision date. Hence, please read the instructions before you fill it up.

    Good luck!

  4. Hi — I'm finalizing my K1 packet and when my finance and I went to get passport photos taken, they cropped it funny so it was 1x2" instead of 2" x 2".

So I recropped the file he included on CD along with the printed photos and came up with this.

I believe it meets UCIS's requirements, but could someone please double check me so I don't commit a time-wasting mistake?

    Thanks. :)

Toavoid any incovenience in the future, please check the following site:

    Good luck!!

  5. Just so you know, I went through the guides, and forums and I am right now 99.8% comfortable sending the package off now... I just want to be 99.99999% sure

Here is a list of what I am about to send... if you realize i am missing something, please speak up! :)

    1. Envelope containing a copy of the entire I-129F Package sent to the USCIS

    2. I-134 & supporting info

    • I-134 Form (Signed and Dated)

    Letter from Employer

Last 3 months of bi-weekly paychecks

    W2's (2008, 2007, 2006)

Tax Returns (not signed as they were filed electronically ((*any issue here???)

Bank Statements (Showing balance in checking account, as well as my mortgage, and I included a recent statement as well)

Property Tax Statement (showing value of home)

    3. Copy of Notifications (NOA1, NOA2, Letter from State Department - forwarding case to embassy)

    4. Evidence of Continuing Relationship

    • Cards/ Letters

    Calling Cards Purchased

    Engagement Ring Receipt

    Emails

    Chat Logs

    5. Envelope Containing Checklist and Cover Letters for the 4 evelopes above

and... Enevlope #5 containing the checklists, also contains my most recent letter stating my intention to marry...

So... please... let me know... does everything look set??? :)

My only other concern is that besides the I-134 form... is there anything else I should date/sign?

Thank you for all your help! Visajourney has help us so much during this process!!!

All good stuff. Copies of Tax returns are OK if you include the w-2 or 1099. All else is fine. More important will be that your fiancee has all her documents, originals with a copy and translations. If all your documents are in order she will find that Kiev usually doesn't go too deep into the "evidence of relationship" etc, BUT send it anyway, better to have it and not need it. Of all the big stack of stuff I brought they only wanted to look at a few photos, never even looked at the rest.

Thank you for posting this information. This is a big help.

  6. Hi, I'm Mark, just joined this morning. My girlfriend is from Brazil, and were going to do a k one visa.I have a couple of friends who belong here, so this is how I found out about this site.

Welcome to VJ! I hope you'll find this site interesting and helpful..

    Good luck on your journey!

We all have wound up here on visa journey because we met and fell in love with someone from another nationality. My husband and I met while playing Final Fantasy XI online. He and I were friends that ended up falling in love. He is from Canada and I am from the United States of America. About a year to year and a half into our relationship, we knew we wanted to grow old together. We were both completely ignorant as to what it would entail by marrying someone from another country. At first, we didn't know what country we wanted to live in. We decided to get married by the justice of the peace while he was visiting. We knew if we got married we would have to choose a country. We searched, but didn't find the correct information... eventually on a trip over the border, one of the border patrol people told us that we had to start the journey either way for him to be able to come back into the United States. We were told that since he and I were married, he was no longer considered a visitor to the United States. They printed up the forms we would need for him to get either and IR-1/CR-1 and or K3 visa. He remained in Canada while I drove back home pregnant with my three children from a previous marriage. That was March 29, 2008. So technically error 1 for us was being ignorant of the K-1 visa... I didn't even know it existed until we started this process.

Once I got the G325A and the photos from him in the mail, I was able to submit our I130. I had an older copy of the instructions, I guess, lol and I sent it to the Nebraska office. About a week later, I got a package from them sending everything back telling me that I sent it to the wrong office and I needed to send it along with the later they sent to the Chicago Lock box and we ended up going through the California Service Center. So... that was Error 2! lol...

We got our NOA-1 on May 23, 2008 and our NOA-2 on September 12. We had no hitches there... no RFEs. So, our case number was assigned and we were sent our letter from the NVC on Sept 24. I paid the fees online and the support information through the NVC went through fine. (They didn't notify us that the joint sponsor's spouse needed to submit and affidavit of support also.) Now our error 3 would be that. Error 4 was that I sent copies of my husband's birth certificate, our marriage certificate and the PCC. They needed originals. I called the NVC about whether or not we would need his birth certificate translated. They informed me that even though it was in French, since the embassy was in Canada and that was the country he was born in, it didn't need to be translated.... they were wrong! lol So, there is error 5!

Error 6 for us was that I had my husband get another PCC from the RCMP instead of the one he sent me at first and I sent it in with a printed out copy of the barcode, instead of waiting to receive the RFE by mail... I thought that would save us time. It didn't... instead I got our first completion date at the NVC on 11-20-08 and when I called in on Dec 1 to see if we had an interview date, I was informed that they moved out our completion date to Dec 1, 2008. I finally found out our interview date in February 2008 and our interview date was March 24, 2009.

We didn't learn that error 3 was even an error until the interview when they couldn't issue the visa without it. We didn't learn the NVC advised us incorrectly about the translation of the birth certificate until we submitted what they asked for at the interview. My husband received a letter stating the only thing they were missing was the translated birth certificate. He has an appointment to get it translated tomorrow afternoon and then plans to take it to the Embassy in person... so we will finally see if he is approved sometime this month. I hope our series of mistakes can help someone to have a more smooth journey. Visa journey is a great place and if you found this... then you also found a lot of very educated people on the process. Good luck!

This serves as enlightenment to me..

Ill be very careful..thanks for the info..

  8. Thanks everyone

Yes I am confused with all this..lol....we are getting married here in the US. I will be sending the I-129F next week. As far as getting her passport, wouldnt it be good that she goes and gets it now??? Or would it better to wait and get it when she gets notification of her interview, or does it matter?

I have filled out the I-129F, but I need to read more on this site to make sure Im doing everything correctly, then I will send the paperwork in. Sorry if I sound confused, but being a perfectionist, Im afraid Im gonna miss something and screw this all up.

OK.....off to read some more. Thanks again everyone

    Kirk

    Hello!

This will be long and tiring journey and it will be very helpful to your journey that you start working with the requirements to avoid cramming when the interview date comes.

So compile all necessary documents needed e.g. passport, cenomar, nso birth certificate

    Good luck!

  9. I just set an appointment with a local office in san bernardino. Hopefully it'll help.

Was your check cashed? If it was - you should be in the system, and should be able to get your file number from the back of the check (I say "Should" because our case number was NOT on the back of the check).

Did you send it via a tracking service at USPS, or parcel service like Fedex or UPS? If so, verify if it was delivered by the tracking code.

If you sent it regular mail and your check wasn't cashed, I'd suggest just wait a bit longer. It may have been delayed in the mail.

    Right, very well said..

You have to extend some more patience ..Good luck!

  10. An additional requirement i guess, my 2x2 photo :star:

I think you should not be afraid of denial. If you arranged your I-129 package carefully and youre filing in good faith then theres no need to worry. RFE is needed sometimes but you need not to worry as long as you send them what they are asking from you. Aprroval just takes time but im sure youll receive yours very soon.

Just keep the faith! Good luck!

  11. help please . time to bring the kids here. we are going to buy plane tickets from expedia ,to we need to get boarding passes before going to airport and how do we do this ? what about taxes fees and charges can we expect to pay at the airport? we have got the affadavit of consent and authorization and support plus the travel abroad for minor from dswd what if anything else are we missing

Hush, take it easy. Phil airport accepts electronic printed ticket in case you do not have the actual ticket which costs a few dollars if you buy online. You need P1620 each for the terminal fee.

    Good luck!

  12. Hi all. My fiancée is going to be coming here from India on the 28th. We have been trying to figure out what he should bring with him that he can't get here in the states. The only thing we can really think of is a pressure cooker. Can anyone give me any ideas on what else he should bring?

Indian spices are superb and their pita is the best..tell your fiancee to bring something that will show their cultures e.g. paintings

  13. I was reading somewhere that it can be helpful to have a letter from your family members supporting and acknowledging your relationship.

Is there perhaps a sample letter for this? If not, what specific information should such a letter include?

Thanks in advance for any information or ideas.

You were reading "somewhere". Where? On this site? I've never seen such a thing.

Then again, perhaps it could be helpful if we knew what you wanted to achieve.

You don't indicate what visa you are trying to get, or if you are adjusting status or removing conditions, or what???

You have no timeline. You don't indicate anything about yourself or your goals, only a very vague question.

Assuming that what you want is to demonstrate proof of bona fide relationship in the quest for a relationship based visa petition or AOS, then I've never heard of an outsider's letter (parent, boss, teacher, priest, whatever) as being relevant. I don't think it can hurt, but that's about all that can be said.

Rather than waste time on that, read the Guides, and follow the instructions therein.

    alrighty then

I am filing for a K1 Visa, I thought I was posting under the K1 Visa area?

I have read the guides throughly. I am in the process of completing the I-129F.

I have no timeline because I have not filed yet.

I have seen on a few sites that a letter from a relative could be helpful... here is one of them: http://www.***removed***/visas/kvisa/fiance...a-petition.html

It does not give an example letter or any information on what the letter should include, so I thought I would ask the helpful people of VJ

I understand it is not necessary, however I believe it could be helpful.

Yes, it may not be necessary but can be very helpful. This might be a possible proof of ongoing relationship. It doesnt hurt to exert a little effort. Good luck!

  14. My fiance is heading for the medical exam soon...if it ends up being her time of the month does she have to wait and go back? Can she complete everything else and then go back a few days later?

Why do they need to know when her last period was by the way?

Last day of her last period is SOP for every physical exam for proper evaluation.
