I was naturalized yesterday also at the LA Convention Center. My letter said to arrive at 8.05, and the ceremony started around 9am. I was out of there a little after 10am, after getting my certificate and everything. We drove from Santa Barbara, so we were up at 4am! It was a looooong day!

Interview was very quick and easy, got six questions right in a row and then had to read "What country is north of the US?" and write the answer "Canada is north of the United States."
Will be taking my oath some time in January!

Got my interview letter today, December 18 in Chatsworth, CA. Kind of surprised that it's not in downtown LA but also glad because it's less of a drive! Wheeee!!
Also I am super stoked because....we are expecting our first baby in May and this means I'll be a Citizen well before baby gets here! Let's hope that I can keep pregnancy brain at bay during the test, haha!

I wanted to start this conversation because there a number of threads and websites that discuss early filing. But, they really do not elaborate on what that means for the applicant.
The applicant gets an earlier priority date to the time of filing. That's plain to see. But, what else does this do for the applicant? What happens next? Typically, when do they get scheduled for the interview?
Any clarification on this would be most beneficial to my understanding and I'm sure a number of others.

I'm going to assume that you mean, what happens when people file as soon as their application window opens, 90 days before their 3 or 5 year anniversary date?
This doesn't really need clarification. You just get the ball rolling on your application as soon as you can. Nothing else special happens.

I am confused.
The document checklist mentions the items below, why are plp sending in tax transcripts and leases and bank statements?
1. A photocopy of both sides of your Permanent Resident Card2. 2 identical color photographs, with your name and Alien Registration Number (A-Number) written lightly in pencil on the backof each photo.3. A check or money order for the application fee and the biometrics services fee for fingerprinting, as stated in the M-479,Current Naturalization Fees,If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, send the following 4 items:1. Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years:a. Birth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth); orb. Certificate of Naturalization; orc. Certificate of Citizenship; ord. The inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse’s current U.S. passport; ore. Form FS-240, Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America; and2. Your current marriage certificate; and3. Proof of termination of all prior marriages of your spouse (divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificate(s)); and4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:a. Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; orb. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.We were only planning on sending:my Certificate of Naturalization;marriage certificatetax return transcript for the last 3 yearsShould we send more stuff??I read that to mean that you need to send as much as you can from that particular line of direction - "Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children". We sent tax returns, a selection of bank statements, and our lease. We don't have any children yet, so I couldn't sent that yet. Better to send it all now than get an RFE.

you are so true saying this is the easiest...your package looks good, i was kinda wanting to send our current lease off too as well, but unfortunately ended up sending the original off with the RoC package...not too worried though, can always provide that at the interview, if neccessary...looking forward to updates from everyone...
I was tempted to send our old lease too, since we just moved five months ago, but then I realized that they got our previous lease when we did ROC, so I thought screw it
Our packet is so lightweight, but it's a relief!Lets hope for a speedy end to this last step!

I was able to obtain IRS tax return transcripts for 3 years but for the state tax return, California tax office doesn't provide transcripts so can I just send the tax return forms that we filed ?
I've only ever sent federal returns for all our petitions so I think you are safe!

Copy of my GC
Two passport pictures
Copy of my husband's passport
Last three years of our joint tax returns
A bank statement for each of the last three years from our joint statement
A copy of our current lease
We don't have any children yet, and no mortgage. When it comes to the interview I have a bunch more stuff to show but I'm not too concerned. This was the easiest of all the petitions!

It must have been great for you and your husband to move to SB after being in Van Nuys, if I remember correctly.
We lived in Sherman Oaks/Valley Village in the Valley...my husband grew up in Van Nuys though! We LOVE Santa Barbara....don't love the super high rent though ;( We will be here for at least another four years though, since Alex is a Ph.D student at UCSB. Could be in a worse place, right?
We've been to Las Vegas many times before and I can appreciate it although it's not my favorite. We live in the Pasadena area so it's easy to find somewhere beautiful to visit without going to another state. Since I enjoy getting to know this country more, I do a lot of research when it comes to organizing our trips. My husband and I agree that one of the greatest places we've visited within California is the Sequoia and Kings National Park in the Central Valley. Kings Canyon is spectacular, having been carved by glaciers in the Ice Age. The drive to Kings Canyon is as unforgettable as Big Sur's.
Chocolate, pastries and ice cream sound perfect. These are enough for me to persuade my husband to go to Solvang before the grape harvest season.
We just got back from Yosemite...talk about stunning. The drive doesn't get good until you are about halfway between Fresno and the Park entrance but those hours of driving through the Central Valley are made up for the first time you see El Capital and Half Dome!

I was so surprised when I got the interview letter and it said Chatsworth, because I had no idea they did interviews! But, it was good, because it was less of a drive and there was free parrking, haha. Overall, it was a very smooth experience during the whole n400 application for me. Best of luck for your application!
