  1. I sent I-130 for my son and received my NOA on Jun 2nd , are there any UK to US members been through

or going throught the process, i cant seem to find to much information on the whole experience.

I check status nearly every day , as im sure every mom/dad does , and the USCIS timeline of 5 months is dragging past.

I know its a short wait compared to the poor souls on here who have years , but still frustrating non the less.

    So anyoneone out there???

I have read so many different posts that refer to parents, sons, daughters etc etc, but there seems to be a different timeline for what relation you are trying to bring over. In my case I will be trying to bring my 13 year old son over to live with me, but have no idea what to tell him as to how long it will take. I recognize that once the son or daughter passes the 21 year old mark, their wait time grows considerably, but what about younger kids? What can I advise my son as to how long he will have to wait? I've read 6-9 months but is that just for granting of the visa and he has another wait for one to become available?

Having gone through the relatively straight forward K1 process, this seems to be an absolute nightmare. My son seems so desperate to join me and the last thing I want to do is dampen that enthusiasm with negativity.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Is your spouse a US citizen? If yes, then your spouse can petition for your son as his step-son in the Immediate Relative category. He should be able to get a visa within a year. Your spouse would need to file a I-130 for your son.

The other route may be that your son may be able to "follow" on your K1 if he was listed. I don't know much about this so you can ask others on this board.

Many thanks, I had an idea that my wife might be better placed to file. As for the K1 I have already identified through another post that the 'follow on' is only valid within the first year of receiving the K1, which has long since past.

Im with you on this one! My USC husband applied for my 17 year old , last month , no updates , and he is desperate and miserable , i just wish there was something i could do ,, if i find out any info , i will let you know!

When did you submit your application?

I did read on USCIS website 5mnths.

  3. How old is the son, and is he married?

He is 16, no not married, i have had so much conflicting advice! now i need to see what a CR1 is ...... sigh

I am assuming your Hubby is the USC? Did the marriage between you and him occur before the child turned 18? It will be approx 9-12 months baring any RFE's. Yes the process is the same, emabassy interview, medical etc. However he will more than likley come as a CR1 if you have not been married to your husband for more than 2 years and then you will also have to lift conditions in 1 year and 9 months. Hope this helps.

Yes hubby is USC , yeah we married when he was 15 , so we are , not at the 2 year married mark yet! Im going to read up on CR1 , so do i still initially send i-130?

  4. Ok my son wanted to come last year then changed his mind , so follow to join is now not an option, my husband is filing i-130

has anyone brought their child , and what was the time frame?

do they go through same process? embassy , medical etc?

finding it difficult to get any similar stories , timelines!

any help would be great , i just want to tell him gently that he could be in for a very long wait.......

  5. Thank you to all who helped , just to say i got an email tonight to say Current Status Notice Mailed Welcoming New Permanent resident!

Just a shame me and my husband had just had a massive fight , i was expecting champagne after this long haul........

lol however , im so happy!

and i wish everyone as speedy (well u know what i mean) a process as mine , god bless :star:

  6. Hi

I recieved an RFE , as i had stated that i had been charged (1996 minor assault). Fine was 250 GBP

Now they are asking for certified coopies of court dispositions?

What im confused about , as at my interview at US Embassy in London , i told the interviewer i had contacted

the local court where the charge was processed , but they had no information on me anywhere , which is also stated on my police record.

I gave them the court telephone number to verify , they seemed happy with that , as i imagine if they werent i wouldnt be here in U.S right now!

So any ideas ? i thought about making an info pass to explain as i have given up on info on phone line!

How do i provide paperwork that doesnt seem to exist and i have till Jun 6th to get this .

    Any help

  7. You will be doing a K-2 follow to join, you can do this up to 1 year after getting the K-1, you need to contact the US consulate in your home country, and request them to send out the K-2 Packet 3 for your son. You may also contact DOS Visa services @ 202-663-1225 and ask.

    http://travel.state.gov/about/info/info_308.html#visa

You don't need to file an I-130, if you take that path you will be looking at a LONG wait for a F-1 Limited family based visa for a child of LPR.

    Look at Family First: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_4417.html

What country are you dealing with??? What is your status (AOS Pending, AOS approved)?? Please fill in profile details, they help a lot. Showing N/A is NOT helpful. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

I called DOS today and was told to get my husband to contact US immigration for a IR2?

Does this mean i dont need to contact London US embassy for P3 for K2 , im so confused

Plus cant use my damn sype phone to call premium rate number at US embassy London aaaaaarrrggghhhh

Any help would be appreciated

  8. Ok , im back on here as a new member , lost all old details , blah blah....

anyway , been in US now 4 months was K1 visa , married , and settling , i think

now i have read as much as i can on follow to join benefits , i have the I-130 ready to go , but what i need to know is ,

Can my 16 year old son come to states and live while i am waiting on his approval?? I know UK citizens can come for 3 months??

He isnt coping very well at home with his father and im extremely worried about his health!

And if he cant , is there a long waiting time?? Im not sure he or i can wait to see what happens.

    Thanks guys.....
