Hello,
Has anyone traveled recently with an older British Passport and their Green Card?
I understand it is now required to have an e-passport for tourists but is this the case if you are a permanent resident?
My UK passport expires in August and I plan to travel to the UK 28th June - 11th July then renew it once I am back.
Any issues?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am from UK and have a ten year green card and am planning to apply for US citizenship next year and will then petition to move my mother over from UK.
Does anyone have experience of this?
She will be 61, can she apply/pay for healthcare and will she be able to get a part time job?
Any info on this process would be great!
Thanks!!!

Hello...
I havent had to be on here for two years but it is time to apply to have my conditions removed from my 2 year Green Card.
I am just within 90 days of the initial card expiring so I am mailing the paperwork this week. We have a straight forward case, I am still married, have all proof and have a good job, pay taxes etc.
Question is, what happens next?
I (maybe stupidly) bought tickets to visit the UK, my home country for the Christmas holidays as I havent been there for 7 years at that time of year, I am leaving on Dec 22nd and returning on Jan 4th. My 2 year Green Card expires on January 4th.
Can anyone share any experiences as to what the timeline will be?
As always with immigration I am getting nervous!
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Hi Congrats on the Green Card!!!
I filed AOS in September and just received my EAD (7th Nov), did you not have to have an interview for the Green Card?
How do you get all the updates on your timeline and what does "touch" mean is this something you have signed up for?
If you could let me know that would be great!
Thank you!

Hi Karin
You gave me some good advice a while ago and I have another question, how did you get your Green Card without an interview, is that usual? I just received my EAD card what will happen next? Thanks for your help!

Going to go back and wait again tomorrow!!! Thanks again! I should have known I could have relied on a German for concise helpful information you should get a job at the USCIS!!!!!! Hi everyone
I am a UK citizen and entered the US on the 12th August on a K1 I got married on the 22nd August and now am filing for Adjustment of Status. We used a lawyer for the K1 but cant afford it for this part I have tried calling the USCIS who are as far as I can tell useless, they cant even tell you what to write on a form! I want to know what my Alien Registration Number means and entitles me to, on the back of my I-94 it has my A# and is stamped "EMPLOYMENT AUTHORISED" and dated on the day of my entry.
Can I get a job or do I still have to file I-765? Do I still need to get a Social Security Number? If so when?
Can anyone help? AAArrrgggh!!
Thanks!!

Thaks for your replies everyone, Its looking pretty gloomy for our August date huh! Does anyone know if I could enter the US on a visa waiver and we can have the church blessing and party then return to the UK to wait for my visa and reenter and legally marry when I get it? Would I get stopped at immigration for having a K1 pending?

Hi
I am a UK citizen marrying a US citizen and we have a straight forward case as far as we know, we have employed a lawyer for $1500 to help us with the process. We have just paid the $455 filing fee and our forms will be with the USCIS on Monday 26th. It has taken 3 months just to get to this stage as we work on cruise ships and its hard organising things. We have a wedding date booked for 22nd August in the states, will this give us enough time for me to get the Visa and get to the states?
Please help!

British Citizen/US Citizenship/Returning to UK
in United Kingdom
Posted
Hello, I couldn't really find a relevant forum so I'm hoping this might reach someone who has some insight.
I am a UK Citizen currently on a 10 yr Green Card expiring in Sept 2022. I have applied for US Citizenship. Mostly because: 1: Our long term plans are to live in USA 2: My mother in UK is unwell and I may need to return and live there for more than a year to care for her and I don't want to have my Green Card rescinded or need to apply for exceptions after 1 year. So, the best course of action seems to be to gain Citizenship that way I can work and live in the UK as a UK citizen but then return to USA as a US citizen at a later time. I do understand there are tax implications to do that and I'll need to file when I am in UK. My question is, do I have any big blind spots or concerns with this course of action? Plus my wife is a US citizen and will need to work in the UK so any insight into wat the best plan/Visa type for her would be appreciated. Thank you, Tim
