  1. Hello all ,

I hope someone can give me some guidance with the process of the green card application process. I have a majority of the paperwork completed but have a few questions which are unclear to me. Trying to cantact a person at the USCIS office is truly a nightmare it seems.

First off If my spouse had the criminal history before she left Romania do we need to have a criminal history check done here before we submit the paperwork?

Secondly Which Affidavit of support do I file? I have read in one place to file the I-864, and in another place to file the I-134, or do I need to file both?

This is such a confusing process to me , I have tried for the past 3 days to contact the USCIS and spend much time on the phone listening to recordings and pushing buttons and never getting to speak with a person , it is so frustrating . I am about at the point where I will take off and go to the Atlanta office and camp out there until I can talk with a real live person..

Any help will be greatly appreciated

  2. Excellent research there Kathryn,

I Understood what the regulations were and thought I did what they asked for but for some reason my divorce decree was rejected for not being a certified copy. hopefully it was just one overzealous case worker , or maybe he was having a serious brain cramp. Whatever the case I had it notarized and sent it back to them . I was just notified this morning that they had received it yesterday and I will have an answer in 14 to 60 days

  3. I got the letter and all it was that my divorce decree was not a certified copy. The copy I had sent was signed and dated and proper but since it was a copy and I had not had it notarized The USCIS decided it was not valid.

They said we should hear something back in about 14 to 60 days ( more than likely 60) Thanks all for the help

  4. I just recieved this notification the other day and have been waiting on the letter from USCIS. & days later and still no letter. I submitted , phone records , pictures of us together there and here, e-mail's , IM conversations, plane tickets and hotel reciepts. What more could they want or is this just thier way to say all that I submitted has been lost in the paper jungle?

Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires.
