  1. Sorry, too much celebrating. Well she passed  . We arrived about 30 minutes before the scheduled time and her name was called just about on time. She was greeted by a very pleasant officer and was sworn in. Asked for her passport and green card, which she examined. Then they reviewed the N-400 form. Next she checked her marriage documents (that I find strange as we were married in China and has been examined many times before). But no big deal.

Then came the reading : Who elects Congress. The writing part : The people elect Congress.

    Next were the history questions:

Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Who is the President of the United States now?

What are the 2 major political parties in the United States?

Who is the Commander in Chief of the military?

Can you name a state that borders Mexico?

Can you name 3 of the original 13 states?

She was then told "Congratulations you have passed".

Then she was given a paper with some instructions about the swearing in ceremony on May 19th. and items that she must take to the Oath Ceremony.

Now this is the confusing thing for me. On the front of the form it asks that she bring with her:

Permanent Resident card - no problem

Reentry permit or refugee travel document - doesn't apply?

ANY IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS THAT YOU MAY HAVE????? -only about 10,000,000 of them. I'll get a hernia if I have to lift that many and I'll probably need a truck to carry them.

I have no idea what they want because it does state on the form that the items requested on the front are to be given to the USCIS employee at the Oath Ceremony and that you may be questioned further on your answers at that time.

I don't think that this has been queried before but if it has I appologize. But if anyone has some insight I will welcome your comments .

    Thanks

  2. "Malvinas Day (Spanish: Día de Malvinas), officially Day of the War Veteran and the Fallen in the Malvinas War (Día del Veterano de Guerra y de los Caídos en la Guerra de las Malvinas) is a public holiday in Argentina, celebrated each year on April 2. The islands are usually known in the English-speaking world by their British name, the Falklands.

The holiday is a tribute to Argentina's fallen soldiers in the Falklands War (Guerra de las Malvinas), which began with the Argentine occupation of the islands on April 2, 1982."

No problem with anyone honoring the dead. But this....

"give the Falklands back to Argentina.." ha, ha, ha, you're a day late - April 1 was yesterday :rofl:

But if you were being serious then that should happen right after the Argentina is given back to the native indians, Kazakhstan is given back to Russia? And a whole lot of other changes, right?

  3. Sorry to post this straight after your comment cHiQy. Hope you get it soon.

  4. Well they did say that the next biometrics appointment will be at no cost to me

What does surprise me a little is that the technician said that they were " a good set of prints" and apparently they were not. Also, I know that they have a good set of prints on file from the Green card process. Why couldn't they use them as I am sure that at least some of the current set were readable and could be compared to their set on file to confirm that it was the same person?

  6. I know some Honda's are built in Marysville, but I don't know anything about Toyota's being built around Columbus.

As for GM, Ford and Chrysler will they still be considered Genuine American if or when the Chinese buy one or all of them?

  7. Just to inject a bit of silliness in to this thread:

The majority decision stated that " Nothing about this case, or the relief ( Ohio Republicans, who bought the suit) seek will allow them to prevent a single voter from casting a ballot in the November election...

A problem that has been addressed in previous threads is that Brunner has ignored advice about allowing same day registration and voting and then refusing to hand over the records of registrants that do not match the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or Social Security records to the county boards of election. A clear violation of the law and is not a party issue. (Congress HAVA, passed after 2000 election debacle)

So the fact that Brunner ordered all the computer voting machines be replaced with paper voting slips and that there were insufficient ballots available for all precincts in the primaries.

Add to that the violation of same day registration and voting. Then the fact that she has been ordered to produce the records by this Friday and she has said she probably will be unable to comply.

Next is the fact that she has run out of Absentee Ballot forms.

Not the best record of any Secretary of State of either party, so I really don't see this as a Party issue.

  8. In a report published a short time ago Mohamed ElBaradei said

"In the 1970s and 1980s, Iraq under Saddam Hussein developed a nuclear weapons program hidden from the IAEA because of severe restrictions on access for inspectors. It came to light only after Iraq's defeat in the 1991 Gulf War and the IAEA spent the next seven years dismantling it."

Everyone knows that it was "The Big Lie", that there were "no weapons of mass destruction". Right? So if it took seven years to dismantle the program then how far away from producing actual weapons were they? I think that this is the first time that I have read that there was definitely a program in place.

What if any, are the implications with Iran's non-weapons nuclear program?

news_logo.gif UN nuclear agency criticises Iran

The International Atomic Energy Agency says it has not resolved questions about a possible military dimension to Iran's nuclear programme.

In its latest report, the UN nuclear watchdog said it had failed to make meaningful progress in assessing Iran's past nuclear activities.

Iran was also continuing to enrich uranium in defiance of a UN Security Council resolution, it said.

The US said Iran could face further sanctions unless it changed course.

Iran says its nuclear programme is aimed solely at civilian atomic energy, but Western nations accuse Iran of seeking to develop a nuclear weapon.

'No credible assurances' In its report, the IAEA said that Iran was failing to co-operate with its investigators.

Regrettably the agency has not been able to make any substantial progress on the alleged studies

    IAEA report

In May, the UN watchdog said Tehran was withholding information about projects to develop a nuclear warhead, convert uranium and test high explosives.

It called for access to key sites, documents and officials so that investigators could assess Iran's position that its nuclear work was for peaceful purposes.

But, said the IAEA, no such access had been granted.

"Regrettably the agency has not been able to make any substantial progress on the alleged studies and other associated key remaining issues which remain of serious concern," the report said.

Without greater transparency from Iran, the IAEA would "not be able to provide credible assurances about the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran", it added.

Iran says documentation on its alleged projects has been fabricated.

The IAEA also said that Iran was continuing to install new cascades of centrifuges to enrich uranium in defiance of a UN Security Council order.

Around 3,800 centrifuges were now in operation at Iran's enrichment plant in Natanz, an increase of 300 since May, the report said.

Responding to the report, the US said Iran could face more punitive measures.

"The Iranian regime's continued defiance only further isolates the Iranian people," White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.

Iran should suspend uranium enrichment or "face further implementation of the existing United Nations Security Council sanctions and the possibility of new sanctions", Reuters news agency quoted him as saying. The report will be discussed by the IAEA's board of governors next week.

  10. Has anyone ever eaten Tiger Nuts? What do they taste like? In fact any information about them. I was told that they are very healthy to eat and make a delicious drink???

  11. Just an observation- I've just arrived back home after driving thru some of the burgs in central Ohio and if the number of yard signs for each candidate are any indication ( and they're probably not) then Obama will win by a landslide. I saw hundreds of yard signs for Obama and maybe 10 or so for Hillary.
