  1. Hi, everyone!

Sorry I'm a little late posting an update. I had a rather busy week last week and didn't get a chance to do so until today.

Anyways, some of you may remember that I was waiting for my green-card to arrived. It was getting worryingly close to being the 60 days that USCIS say to allow for it to arrive. I'd received my approval letter, and nothing since.

Then on Thursday June 13th, I got several emails from USCIS informing me that my greencard production had been ordered. On the 14th I received another email to inform me that it had been mailed to me. There was tracking information included, but something must have gone wrong with the information because I didn't get a proper tracking number. I tried it at USPS anyways, and didn't get any matches.

But, no need to worry. My green-card arrived on Monday, June 17th. It was sent via Priority Mail. No signature or anything required. The mailman just left it for me in the mailbox.

Anyways, hope this update proves useful for anyone still waiting. I do hope those that have had to wait for their green card will receive theirs soon.

Thanks to everyone here for all your support with the immigration process. I'll try to stop by here from time to time, and obviously will be posting again when it comes time to apply for citizenship.

  2. I just checked the USCIS Web site and my wife's green card was ordered on June 12, 2013 and we should get it in the next 30 days.

I feel everyone else who is waiting for a response will start getting updates. Hang in there.

I will keep everyone updated once we receive the green card.

Same for us! I just got an email from USCIS to say that card production had been ordered, and to allow 30 days for it to arrive.

  3. Maybe the green cards will start coming now. I checked the September 2012 filers and saw that about 4 CSC filers have received their cards now and a few posted that they have placed service requests because they plan on traveling out of the country soon.

My wife was approved on April 5 and the letter said to call the Cust Serv number if we do not receive the card within 60 days. So I called today. The level 1 rep only had access to the same info shown online, that the case status was initial review. But I told her we received a letter dated April 5 that said my wife was approved. She escalated my call to a level 2 rep. After waiting an hour for a call back , the level 2 rep didnt have any additional information either, and simply said we will get a case status update within 2 weeks. Geez.... sad.png

Oh dear. That's concerning. I'm desperate to travel to England and see my family this summer. My brother and his wife just had their first daughter last Christmas. I want to see her very badly. They grow up so fast at that age! Unfortunately, if I can't travel in August I won't be able to travel until 2014. I've been pinning my hopes on customer service being able to hurry things along if the card hasn't come by then, but now I have my doubts...

No update yet though. In another 15 days, I can call and try to find out what's happening. I'm glad I'm not the only one left waiting though. My status on the website still says "Initial Review" so it's no use for keeping up-to-date on where CSC is with ordering my card production.

  4. John just asked me this morning if anyone on VJ had received their GC recently, so I promised I would look. sad.png It's a shame they aren't more on the ball recently. I hope yours comes soon! smile.png

I guess once 60 days have passed, I can give them a call. But I'm assuming they aren't going to do anything until then, so there's no point bothering just yet. I'll be sure to post an update if/when my greencard arrives!

  5. It's been over 3 weeks since I received my approval notice. But I still haven't received my greencard. I'm getting worried. I want to visit my family in August, but I daren't make plans until I have the greencard in hand. Has anyone else been waiting this long? Judging by the timelines of others here, I fear something might have gone wrong with my greencard being issued.

  6. Thanks! I just realized I could check the timelines to get an idea of how long it is taking for most people, and it looks like it is taking from 4 - 14 days (with the overall average being about 5 - 7, like you said). That's great news. I know my family are going to be so excited when I give them the news. I wish I could have called them today to let them know - but it was too late over in England by the time I got my letter today, so the call will have to wait until tomorrow.

Good luck to all those of you still waiting to hear back about their application.

  7. Wow! What a coincidence. I just posted on here earlier today to say that I hadn't heard anything yet about my application, and was getting worried. And then the very same day, I get a letter from immigration to say that I was approved! The approval date was April 22nd. Letter arrived today, April 25th.

    Yay!

Green card production has been ordered.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for green card to arrive? My husband and I want to buy tickets to visit my family in England as soon as I have it in hand, but the letter says up to 60 days. That would be cutting it awfully close for our planned trip this summer.

Edit: Just a note to those still waiting - don't rely on the online system to keep up to date. Ours STILL says that we are under initial review. It hasn't changed from that since last August. I doubt, at this point, that it ever will.

  8. Go to: www.uscis.gov. On the top left corner it says -- "check my case status" you put in the receipt # (your receipt # is on the form the mailed you indicating they received the packet). You can make a profile and just sign-in periodically to check on your case. There is a date on there that says -- Last Updated and they put a date -- so the dates are considered "touches."

    Hope this helps...?

Thanks. I just checked --- no updates since August. :(

I expect this is going to be a long wait...

  9. I just wanted to check-in to say hello and see how everyone was doing. Waiting this time around is sooo much easier...::SIGHHH:: Thank god!

Definitely so much easier this time around. Now that the application is sent off, I've barely even thought/worried about it at all. (I just hope we get everything approved by summer, as I'd rather travel with a valid greencard instead of having to take the expired one and our receipt)

So, I went to USCIS to see if our file had been touched and just saw that on 10/24 it was touched -- hoping it means a speedy turn-around. Has anyone eles had their filed "touched"?

I didn't know it was possible to find out whether USCIs had "touched" our case! How do I do that?

  10. Hello All... I am going to be traveling soon and I am just a little nervous...as the green card expires next month...so just to confirm... I should be traveling with my expired greencard plus the notice of receipt of I-751....

Is that all? Am I missing anything??

Any advice I've seen given on this subject seems to suggest that that's all you need to take with you. I can't think what else you could take - although hopefully there is someone here who has traveled with a green card that was due to expire, and can give more accurate information.

  11. Welcome back FrostyMist! Glad you are just busy, nothing like middle of the nasty divorce or having health issues...

    Thanks! :)

I remember when I was applying for my K1 visa, and then going through AoS ---- I was here constantly. But this next step has felt so much less stressful than what's come before. Perhaps because I am here in America with my husband now, without the added stress and heartache of distance. I guess I checked VisaJourney a lot more often when the process was so much harder.

It's not. They just have it on the timeline since it IS a possibility, so that if you do have one you can put the date there. There's also a spot for interview date on the AOS timeline & we didn't have an interview for that :)

Thanks for the clarification. We didn't get an interview for our AoS either, although that makes me wonder whether we'll be more likely to be called for an interview this time around. I had wondered whether AoS interviews are mainly to clear up any confusion or doubts over an application - but wasn't sure.

I hope the next step in our journey goes smoothly for everyone here.

  12. My apologies for kinda disappearing. I had wanted to update everyone with our current case status, but life got suddenly rather busy and I didn't get chance.

I received my I-171 receipt (dated 8/29/12) sometime around September 4th - 6th (sorry, I can't remember the exsact date.)

My biometrics appoint date was scheduled for 09/26/12. Our local service center is in Kansas City.

Everything seemed to go just fine at the appointment. We arrived 30 minutes early, but they let us through straight away (I was worried they'd turn us away until it was closer to the appointment time) and I only had to wait about 10 minutes before they called me in to take my fingerprints and photograph. The guy there was the same guy that I had at my last biometrics appointment. I doubt he remembers us, but my husband certainly remembered him. (I'm terrible with that sorta thing, so I didn't realize until my husband pointed it out afterwards.)

Anyways, now that's over and done with, I guess we just wait. I think the USCIS website is estimating 6 month processing times at the moment, so I'm hoping we'll have a decision by Easter. Sorry again for not keeping everyone up-to-date with our timeline.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I just noticed when updating my timeline on Visajourney that there's a section for interview date. Will I be called to an interview? I've been aware that it might be a possibility, but I don't recall reading many people mentioning going for an interview for Removal of Conditions so I didn't think it was an actual requirement.

Can anyone clarify whether it is or not?

  13. Did you send it requiring a signature by any chance?

I did send it with signature confirmation, yes.

But it looks like problem is solved. I got email confirmation about half an hour ago to say that it was delivered. Strangely enough, the delivery date came up as being for the 23rd... so it must have just taken USPS a long while to update it in their system. I'm relieved that it's gotten there safely though!

  14. Hm. I'm a little worried that my package may have gotten lost by the USPS. It was mailed off on Tuesday, but the tracking information has been saying that it's been at the sorting office in California since the 24th August. I'm hoping that maybe it was just held there over the weekend if USCIS don't accept deliveries then, or something. Hopefully it will be delivered today.

  15. Friends I'm a little confused here...when you all mention packet here..does it contain lots of stuff in it? ]

Its just a 3 page form and xerox copy of your conditional permanent resident card isn't it? Am i missing something here ??

    Will they decline my application?

    Many Thanks in advance .

Unfortunately, I'm afraid you're missing quite a lot of information if you only sent in those things you mentioned. Aside from your form and copy of your permanent residence card, you are also required to submit evidence to support the validity of your marriage. Don't worry though! If the immigration services feel that you have not included the information they need, they will send you an RFE (Request for Evidence) which will allow you to then send in all of the required documentation so that they can begin processing your application. They may also just return the whole application back to you and ask you to re-submit it with the required information.

Some of the evidence you may want to think about including are:

    Tax returns

    Rental agreement / mortgage information

Bank account (showing both your names)

Credit cards (showing both your names)

Letters from family and friends (stating that they know you both and you are living as a married couple).

Insurance information (like health insurance, if you have a policy in both your names)

  16. Just mailed off my application today, so now to sit back and wait for the NOA1 and hope that we didn't do anything wrong. We spent ages yesterday checking and re-checking the mailing address, making sure we had included everything, and that the check was clearly written, dated and signed. Hopefully this'll be a simple process.

  17. My mother-in-law is photocopying the last pieces of evidence for us whilst she's at work today. So I'm hoping that we can have our application sent off on Monday.

But I was just wondering, how has everyone organized their evidence? I have split mine up by year (2010, 2011, 2012) but would it have been better to organize it by category? Like all bank statements together, all tax returns together, all rental agreements together, etc etc.

  18. I really hope it's not required to send an affidavit. When I read the instructions, I took it to be an optional thing. We could ask his family (there's only his mum and dad though) but aside from that, we actually don't have many friends here. I have one friend that lives in New York, but I feel awfully uncomfortable about asking her for an affidavit since it would require she get it notarized. I know she'd probably be fine with it if I asked her to - but still makes me feel uncomfortable, so I'd prefer not to if possible. I guess I just don't want to ask her for fear of inconveniencing her - she's very busy with looking after her mother, who's been quite sick. We've never needed an affidavit before, so I'm hoping this time will be the same.

  19. Everybody - those who are and those who have sent out the packet -

    Letter from friends

    vs

    Affidavit from friends

    Who is doing/did which one....

    Thanks,

Neither. I intend to submit greetings cards from family and friends, but will not be asking any of them for letters and/or affidavits as I was uncomfortable with the idea that they might be called up in front of an immigration judge if there was a problem with our application. Not that I expect there to be a problem with our application-but I just felt awkward putting them in such a position. I hope the greetings cards will be sufficient.
