  1. US Embassy in Hong Kong finally approved Dora's visa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She went through her second interview yesterday, 2 hours, 3 different embassy people interviewed her!

I was literally an inch from giving up on the K1, and going there to marry and start over for a spouse visa.

Congrats!!! That approval is probably the happiest slice of time in the whole process :D :D :D

My fiancee and I arrived in Newark yesterday (took her through the U.S. Citizen section with me with no problems).

Took the USCIS crew about 15-20 minutes to get her paperwork through and we're set for marriage  .

I'm EXTATIC because of the simple fact that I woke up next to her in my (our) bed this morning :P :P

Applying for a marriage license on Friday...

    This forum is THE BEST!!!!!

Thank you all for your help and posts about your own experiences (embassy, paperwork, POE, marriage, AOS, etc...).

    All the best to everyone!!!

  2. Hi All,

Quick question regarding the POE procedure.

I'm planning on going to Poland and travelling back with my fiancee so that she doesn't get 'lost' on the way to the US. ;-)

What's the best way to proceed at the point of entry (Newark, N.J.)?

    1) Let her go through the visitor section on her own (she doesn't really speak English, although she's been in the US before)

    2) Go through the visitor section with her (I am a US citizen) and help translate

    3) Take her with me through the 'Citizen' section.

She'll have to fill out a customs declaration but which one? (the green one or the white one).

Congrats to those already together and good luck to those still waiting!

    Thanks for the help!

    P

  3. Just thought I'd share a bit of info...

My fiancee had her interview in Warsaw on Monday at 0830.

She texted me at 0937 that she had gotten the visa in her passport

The only questions she was asked were whether she had family in the U.S. and whether she REALLY wants to marry me (the latter might have been a half-joke on the part of the woman-consular-officer  ).

The lady took all the paperwork and apparently was only interested in I-134 with supporting documents (I had to notarize it, but did not include tax returns).

Did not look at pictures, phone-bills, etc...

My fiancee had a visitor visa which was valid until 2011 removed and replaced with the K-1.

All-in-all, the worst thing about this whole process was the wait for NOA2 and packet 3. After that it all keeps on rolling on its own (given you've got the paperwork filled out).

I'm planning to fly out there in September, fly back to the U.S. with her and 'assist' her at the point of entry (Newark). Don't want any over-zealous USCIS agents bothering my wife-to-be

Anyway, HUGE thanks to everyone here for all the pointers and updates.

This website and forums are an incredible help with the whole K-1 process.

Best of luck to all, especially those still waiting!

    Pete

  4. Hello All,

My first post here, but I've been lurking  .

Figured I'd let the November crew know that the VSC is (albeit slowly) looking through the petitions.

I got my NOA1 hard copy on November 7th and received my NOA2 e-mail on January 30th.

Once I saw that someone else got approved (from November filings on this thread), I started flipping out being worried that something might be wrong (even called USCIS)...until I got the email.

To those who are still waiting: Hang tight! It's a pain not knowing what's going on, but VSC is going through the stack...

    Patience and Good luck!

    Pete
