Are you looking for insurance for yourself or a senior family member? In which state?
Doesn't sound like the person you spoke with was very knowledgeable. You might be better off talking to another assister + reading all the helpful info on this thread. Unfortunately, all assisters aren't equally competent, especially when it comes to immigrant specific issues...
Probably so.
A senior family member, 64 and 67. They have not immigrated yet, I wanted to get this detailed nailed down before the move.

What waiting period? A s a new Immigrant assuming this is the situation you have a n opportunity to buy otherwise you wait until the annual enrollment period.
Subsidies would be dependent on your income.
Most of this should be on the web site for your State ACA programme.
I meant the 60 days they are allowed to enroll before they have to wait for open enrollment.
Subsidies: Yes, but this wasn't a topic at all with the person I spoke with.
I'll try that.

I just had a brief discussion over the phone with a local Assister. She didn't know about the length of the waiting period or about subsidies etc.
Suggestions? -
Costa Rica does not require a visa if you have a US Green card and your stay does not exceed 90 days. Here is an online website I use to give you information of about visa and passport requirements:
Awesome info! Thanks! Helps a lot!

Is it easier to get Visas for other countries now that I'm a resident?
For instance, to travel to Costa Rica, I need a Visa (as a South African resident) but my wife doesn't.
This is a pain. Have any good news for me?
-
Awesome! Thanks

I've tried to find info on this topic but I've run out!
Do permanent resident get constitutional protection? Or is that just for citizens?
-
If I go to the USCIS.gov website and click on "Check Filing Fees". The i485a is $1000 and not $1010 as stated here.
-
How long do I wait before I can leave the country anyway?
I'm not planning a trip any time soon.
Or should I just go ahead and request it since it's free.
-
Great! That answers that question
So the EAD is included, yay.
-
Yes sorry I haven't updated that yet.
I got in the country on the 7th of August and got married on the 25th of October. I am therefore outside of the 90 day period (K1). What is my status currently? Just K1 Visa Holder then? That would expire on the 5th of November. It's obviously already past that.
-
I'm in the process of completing my forms. I've gotten married but not yet applied for adjustment.
What's my status? And when does it expire?
-
How long does the adjustment of status take? Can I just wait for it and then get automatic authorization to work without spending the $340?
-
Hey all,
I'm getting married on the 25th of October and my Fiancee and I are in the process of buying a condo.
Should we buy it in both of our names or not? After we get married the house becomes community property automatically (texas).
The reason I ask is because we'd like to claim the $8000 tax credit for first time home buyers. Can I be on the title as a co-buyer in this situation or will this influence getting the tax credit?
Thanks!

What needs to be signed by the fiancee and fiance with the I134. Just the I134 or the evidence as well?
-
We're about to print everything off and just want to double check with the community that we have what we need.\
- Completed I-134
- W2 for 2008
- Latest bank statement
- Letter from employer stating income and possibility of work for the next 7 years
- Summary of bonds/investments
Question #1: The "employer" filed is too short for the full name of her employer, do we need to write it in with a pen instead?
Question #2: Are we missing anything?
Thanks,
T

Yes, you will need the latest one(s). Call the IRS to get your tax transcripts.
I have a pdf version of the submitted form 1040. Do I need anything else?
Tax returns, one year, not notarized. Copy with w-2/1099 or transmittal wihout w-2/1099Question 11: "If she is a good little wifey and does as I tell her" LOL No, the answer is "NA, K-1 visa"
Can you be more specific about w-2/1099? And what is the "transmittal without w-2/1099"?
(She's applying for me, so she's the one with the support at this point in time... If I behave she'll give me some money...)

US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion
You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.
Great thanks!

My Fiancee is filling out the I134 at the moment and we have some questions.
Supporting Evidence:
"A" in the instructions state that we need a statement from an officer at the bank where she has an account. (This might be a dumb question, asking anyway). Will a bank statement be enough for this? My immediate answer is no.
Tax returns - do we need the latest one? Does it need to be notarized? This (tax returns) isn't stated in the instructions at all.
I-134 Form:
Question 7:
1. Depost in a bank, does this need to be the same as the amount on the supporting evidence?
2. Personal property, does this need to be certified, i.e. do we need supporting evidence for this? (She makes enough to be 125% of poverty guideline.)
Question 11: Does this need to be ticked as "i intend" or not. We just don't know with this line, there are no instructions.

I129F mailed - Jan 26th.
NOA - Feb 2nd!
Eek!
-
Great! Them I'm clear... Sheesh!

I just read the "K-1 Fiance Visa: Tips on Forms and Documents" page and the first item shocked me.
It says that we both need to sign the "original statement of having met in person". What will happen if only the applying fiance has signed this?
-
Which of the documents included in the I-129F package needs to be original.
Ok looking at the step by step guide on visajourney here's what I've got. Which of them needs to be original and which can be copies and which need to be certified.
1. Payment (I have an original cheque) : No questions here.
2. Cover letter (I'll have a scanned copy of the signed document) : Can I just use a copy of this one?
3. I-129F : Printed and signed original (I will make a copy before I send off).
4. Declaration of how we met (I have a scanned copy).
5. Statements of intent, I have originals.
6. Proof of having met (I have some stubbs, copies of passport sections with entry to ports and visas).
7. G-325A : I have the originals.
8. Have originals of the passport photos.
9. G-325A : I have the originals to submit.
10. Have original passport photos.
11. Just a copy of the front and back of the birth certificate.
Which of these needs to be original/can be copies or need to be certified (certification probably most important).
Thanks!
If you are the US Citizen filing the petition, you would have an original cover letter signed by you. So, I don't understand why you've indicated a scanned copy.
I'm putting together everything my U.S. Fiancee is in another city and I'm staying with her parents on a visitors visa. I'll mail it from here, but I'm putting everything together.
I'm sending it all to her now to finish.
