Hi Guys!
I've been super super busy with my new job!
HUGE CONGRATS to everyone who got GC approvals!
My interview is tomorrow - I'm actually not that nervous anymore!
Because our interview place is 2 hours away my husband and I are driving up there tonight, staying at a super nice hotel, going to have a nice dinner and RELAX so we don't stress over it!
Here are the things I have prepared to bring with us:
- ID's
- I made an entire separate binder that is just copies of everything we submitted + copies of pictures we are bringing for easy access
- Tons of cards, letters, various mail, health bills, bank statements, phone bill, letters from friends, contracts for things, letter from employers, bank letter ect..
Oh and pictures of course
Good Luck to everyone still awaiting interviews - I'll let you know how it goes!!
-
Hope everyone is having a great day so far
The May filers are doing fairly well with processing. Seems like you guys are as well!

Do whatever you can to come up with the money, and then file for AOS. (obviously don't starve yourself or anything)
Your overstay (if you have one) will be forgiven once your AOS is approved
As previously said do NOT leave the country even with AP. Stay put until your greencard is approved.
Good Luck!

Two updates for me!!
I got my interview letter today!!!!
August 20th!! I think by the look of the spreadsheet I share the date with some other people!
I also got a new job!! Whoot! But I won't be starting for another 2 weeks. I hope I have enough time to build up some
more stuff to bring with us for the interview!!!
I'm also kinda annoyed that I can't bring a lease with me because the current one doesn't expire until end of september
and they won't write anything up until then. I'm sure that'll be okay though.
Congrats everyone who got interviews!! Everyone else -I'm sure you'll get letters soon!!

Anyone else having trouble getting a DL?? On the Arkansas DMV website it says you need photo ID from the Dept of Homeland Security, so I thought I was golden with my EAD but the guy at the wicket told me that I needed a green card. Anyone have any luck talking their way into a DL? My Canadian DL is about to expire - I need ideas on how to appeal this!
I would def go back and talk to someone!!!! Especially if it's on their website!!
Quick Edit:
I checked the Arkansas DMV site and it says this:
INS Documents, as follows:
Certificate of Naturalization (N-550, N-570, or N-578)
Certificate of Citizenship (N-560, N-561, or N-645)
Resident Alien Card (I-151, I-551, AR-3, AR-3A, or AR-103)

I'm sorry Aloe
I can't believe how difficult it is to deal with them. All they ever say is "call back in x amount of days's.
They really need a more easier way to get information about what's going on with your case.
Are you able to make an info appointment?

Good Luck July Filers!!
-
I just threw mine in a USPS flat rate box and added on signature confirmation, and delivery confirmation. I think it was $6 in total for it.
Got there with no problems a day and a half later!

Congrats!!
I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck the night before my interview too!
-

Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July!.
Cartman, we went to West New York, those fireworks are just unbelievable, but I got there a little late (drove and never been there before so GPS still got me lost
) anyways here's a pic of the view.
Take care all,
Such a pretty view!! Great picture of you guys!!

Hey Everyone,
Hope you guys all had a fantastic July 4th!!
Nothing new here!! I DO have a few job interviews this week though! Just office admin stuff while I go part-time and finish school up!
have a great week! Hope we get some more interview letters soon!!

Wow, I already had my EAD card in the mail yesterday. That was fast!! Not even a week after I got the e-mail.
Now we will see how long it takes for my interview letter....looking at the timelines for Detroit here on VJ nobody gets transfered without an interview. People who applied in April are still waiting for their interview, so I guess it will still take at least a month for me to hear anything. Isn't that weird though, that they say on the USCIS site that Detroit is still working on November applications and here on VJ all the February filers already got approved?
I am getting kind of anxious about that interview. We don't have that much to bring as proofs. I am not on the lease. The only thing we would have so far are our wedding pictures and a joined bank account. Well, and my ID shows the same address as my husbands. What else could we bring?
Congrats on the card!!
I think that USCIS times on their website are wrong or something. It shows that St.Paul is processing stuff from August 2008 but I've seen someone since then have an interview and get approved. So maybe they still ARE working on applications from then, but still process new stuff too? Oh I should note too that on the USCIS website it says:
Field Office Processing Dates for Saint Paul MN as of: April 30, 2009. So obviously it hasn't been updated in like 2 months.
It seems like everyone who filed at the beginning of the year have been approved/have interviews now so I'm sure we'll have ours before the end of the year.
I'm nervous about the interview too! Just because I can have panic attacks when I'm nervous about stuff so that's ALL I need to have in the middle of the interview!!
Here's the stuff we have so far in my "box" for the interview
- Health Insurance Forms showing I'm on husbands
- Life Insurance Forms showing I'm beneficiary
- Letter from bank saying we have a joint account
- I will have bank statements ( I just got put on as a joint holder because I had to wait for SSN)
- Apartment Lease ( although I'll only have this if the interview is after September because they won't let us change the lease until it ends)
- Pictures
- Letters from few family members & friends
- Various things send to the apartment to both of us, cards, random other mail
- Contracts for our wedding reception
I hope to figure out more. I can't get put on for our electric bill because here they only let one person/lease. Same with cable. We have no creditcards or cell phones (we live really simply lol). And we use Skype for our phone because the long distance back to canada was killing our regular phone bill.
I'm not sure what else I can get. I'm sure I could bring a copy of our gym membership too.
I really am trying not to get worked up about the interview because then I get nervous, start freaking out. I can be a pessimist sometimes so I need all the positive thinking I can get!

Just stopping by to wish everyone a fantastic 4th of July!!!
Here's to people hearing things next week!!!
-
i don't see any update on my portfolio online...but just received my AP approval notice today in mail......
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah it seems like you can't really go by the website at all. VJ seems better in terms of tracking your local office.
I don't mind if it takes from now until the end of the year I just really would love to go surprise my family for xmas this year being as it's been a while since I've seen them!!!!
I'm also having my big reception next June in Canada so as long as it's approved before then, I'll be happy!!
-
Congrats to everyone who got transferred or the interview date!
I got a quick question to you guys: Did yours get processed faster than others at your local office? Because when I check the timelines here for Detroit there are still people waiting who applied in April or March to get an interview date? Is that at your offices, too and you just got processed faster or do you fit to the timelines?
Just wondered, when I can except something to happen on my AOS....
Thanks.
In terms of my local office I seem to be on track. There aren't a lot of people on this board in my area so it's hard to judge. I think my EAD got processed faster though.
It seems right now, that it's between 4-6 months for you to get your greencard (pending RFE's). A few people seem slightly longer but I think it's all situational.
As I've said before, I don't understand the whole time thing because my local office still says it's processing stuff from last August!! But I've looked at other offices who say the same yet I've seen people's greencards get approved. So I'm completely confused on that front.

Hi Guys!!! WE WERE APPROVED!!!!!!
Here is a review of this morning!
We got there a little before 8, went through security and handed in our appointment letter.
Sometime around 8:20am we got called in by a young guy (at least he looked really young to me!) and lead us to his office.
We sworn in and he asked me all the typical questions to confirm the application
Then he asked my husband (the US citizen)
1) How did you meet
2) What did you do after you got married
3) Do you get along with her family
I had prepared A LOT of stuff because I wanted to make sure that everything went smooth. I also had an overstay and didn't want that to be an
issue and I was kinda shocked that he never asked for any of it! I really couldn't believe how easy it was going!
He DID ask for updated letter from my husbands work, took another copy of my passport and left the room for what felt like FOREVER but returned
shortly said we were approved( I made a little peep when he said that and he laughed saying he never gets over people's reactions when he says they are approved) He explained that I would get the 2 year card and how to removing conditions and that it's very important to make sure that I remember to do it because I wouldn't get another notice from them.
Then he said I'd get my card in 30 days and I was done! Shook our hands and said congrats!
Oh and before I left and I asked him if I could have the stamp and he said they usually don't give them out anymore but he did it for me anyways.
I'm so happy!!!! My husband and I sat in the car for 20 minutes just talking about the interview and how happy we were!
I really was in shock about the whole thing. I usually don't do well in interview type situations.
We went out to a nice lunch after and I couldn't contain myself and told the waitress who must have told the manager because he
brought us over a free dessert to share!
I just wanted to make a quick note and let future people know, don't be nervous. Everyone here loves their spouses and have nothing
to hide. Regardless if you have an overstay, just trust in your relationship, be calm and keep your answers short. Things will work out!!
Tonite we're going out to celebrate with Hubby's family!
Nanda,R+E & Tekol, I thought about you right after my interview!! Hope your interviews went just as well!
