  1. Congrats =)

Wow, I didn't know they would interview the petitioner at the embassy if they showed up as well.

I had no idea they were going to be interviewing me either. When they asked her to raise her right hand, I stepped back a little, thinking it was going to be all her. Then the consul told me "You as well."

According to him, he "grew up where I live" so he was even asking me questions about my location and its surroundings.

  2. After a 7-year-long distance relationship, my girlfriend will finally be able to come to the United States so we can get married and finally live together!

The interview was on 4/23/09. The wait was very long, but very well worth it! We got there at 5:30 am and left at 12:15 pm! They only asked her two questions, and they asked me the rest. Questions like: How did we meet? Why not someone in the US? Why didn't you petition for her sooner (because of our 7 year relationship)?

The interview lasted about 7-10 minutes. In the end, the person interviewing us said that of many people he has interviewed we were very well prepared and very well organized. I have only VJ to thank for that! The guides were so extremely helpful! Everyone that gave advice on the forums, you are all amazing!

    THANKS EVERYONE! THANKS VJ!

  3. I was able to get in touch with someone by pretending I needed to change my address, I was put through to customer service and I explained my problem the woman found my case and said that it was still pending. When I tried to ask her why I could not see it on the website she repeatedly explained to me that they are still processing cases from March of 2008... I tried to explain to her that still means I should be able to access my case and she began talking over me and repeating herself about the cases in March and since I am from September I should be expected to be patient and wait.

Her tone was so condescending and ignorant. These people have no respect for what we go through. She made me so upset and sad I feel like it will take forever for my case :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: Why couldnt they at least be nice?

As of September 30, 2008 - they are processing cases from March (meaning they are or were slightly behind). I also sent my I-129F to the VSC and received a NOA2 a little less than 5 months after the NOA1 (which tells me two things: they have caught up with their slack, and the processing times has not been updated in a very LONG time). Just be patient.

  4. well once you enter the USA on the K-1 you must be married within 90 days... you must file for AOS by that 90th day and it typically takes 90 days+ more to recieve the Greencard

VERY incorrect information. There is NO set time you have to file for AOS.

But after I file for the AOS (whenever that is) how long does it usually take to recieve the greed card?

  5. #14 on the I-129F form for the Fiance Visa asks for the "Address in the United States where your Fiance intends to live."

Right now, I'm living at home with my parents. When we know for sure we are approved, then I will find an apartment. As of now, I'm not sure what that address will be-- what should I put there??

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

I'm in the same situation. But since I have not moved out when I filed for the I-129F, I just put my parent's address. That's no problem at all because addresses can change. But you should let your parents know of your plans.

  6. I just received an e-mail from USCIS saying they mailed me an approval of my petition (after only 4 months.) What does this mean? Will I see my fiance soon? Or do I have to wait a lot longer? I'm just happy something happened though! And they approved it the day I had to come from from visiting him!

Congrats on getting the NOA2. You might have to wait a little longer, but not as long as you waited to get the NOA2 (hopefully).

  7. wow this pst kinda scared me because i use yahoo or msn messenger to do the voice chat and webcam with me wife and like how can you record and we do that do both of us have high speed intrebet and when you have that who would be taht would be wasting time to do the chats and emails you know but the thing thats scaring me is yeah if soemone is ask me to prove on going relationship then.... what you people suggest for me, should i just start doing the chats and keeping print out for them just to prove it other people what the.... i guess one need to do that whom relationship is NOT real why the heck i need to do that,

In my opinion, phone logs and chat logs are good points in showing an ongoing relationship but they are not the only methods. If for some reason you can not provide these logs, try finding another avenue. Do you have pictures together? Letters? Gifts? Have you sent money? Etc.

  8. Hey everybody first of all I want to thank you in advanced just for reading this. This website is really a godsent because it has so much info thats really helpful. My fiance lives in Dominican Republic he is 20 years old and so am I. We have been together for the past 4 years. We have proof of our relationship; letters, pictures, emails, plane tickets. All the other paperwork ex. Birth Certificates etc. There is only one problem I have or lets call it a doubt. I am a full time student and don't file taxes because I am exempt because of school. My brother has offered to be my cosponsor he make around 60,ooo a year. which is more than enough. Is it possible to file an affidavit of support by me with no income basically and have my brother be the cosponsor. Trust me he wont be on welfare which is what everyone tells me. He has many family members here who will take care of him and get him a job. Please tell me if its possible or if you have done it and how did it go and if possible tell me how you did it. Any information will be appreciated thank you!!!

Hi, from everything I have read, that will work perfectly fine. There are a lot of posts about this. You are in school, so that makes sense you aren't working. No problems... just have your brother fill out the 134 and get his tax returns and letter from his employer. Hope that helps

    Thank You!!

Did you send the I-129F yet?

  9. Hello guys!!!!!!!

My fiance texted me earlier that he got our NOA2 hardcopy already.... God is soooo great!!!! He always answers our prayers!!!!! I just checked our K1 application status thru USCIS site and YES we got approved!!! And we got an email too from them....

    Receipt Number: EACXXXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 14, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

    Thank you so much guys!!!!

What's the next step after getting the NOA2? Hope to hear from you guys!!!!!

Congrats. Tell your Fiance to prepare the Affidavit of Support documentations. Check the Embassy Info tab at the top and go to the Embassy section there where the I-129F will be sent to. Study up on that while you wait for them to send you the information.

  10. Hi to all,

just curious guys, I sent my copy of my us passport all pages (black&white) instead of a certified copy of my birth certificate do i get an RFE for that?

Do I need to request a certified copy of my birth cert right now just incase they ask for it later on? any RFE experienced about this guys?

I would think you would be fine if its a US passport. I sent both my passport and a COPY of my birth certificate (I don't think they asked for a certified copy).

  11. So could we see a change with VSC?????? :) I HOPE AND PRAY WE DO!

I would think things are starting to pick up the slack at the VSC. I've been monitoring their processing time for the K1 Visa, and according to their website they were behind (A date was shown instead of 6 months) as of September 30, 2008. Yet, I received a NOA2 only 148 days after getting a NOA1. That's less than 5 months!

  12. Thanks everyone for the quick replies and pointing me to the guides. I've seen them before and I guess I have already been working on what it states:

    4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a US Notary Public), with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.

    5. You will likely need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134. Specifically you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and ueful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.

    • After I get the letter from my job and my bank, I will get it notarized.

After I get this done, I send it to her along with everything else in the guide so she can take it to the interview, correct? If this is the case, I am planning on going to the interview with her...whenever that is.

After this, are all the steps I need to do done? What does she have to do now?

    Thanks again everyone.

  13. Hello VisaJourney! I guess I am what you would call on the radio a "long time listener, first time caller." The examples and outlines on this website are very good as well as the comments and helps found on the forums. It helped me a lot in preparing my I-129F package.

I received a letter in the mail shortly afterward stating that my package was received on August 14, 2008.

On Monday, I received a letter in the mail stating that as of January 9, 2009, the petition has been approved.

My question is...now what do I do? What does she have to do? What comes next?

I've been preparing the affidavit of support (Form I-134). It's already filled out. I am just awaiting on a letter from my job stating that I work there full time, salary, etc (which I should get Thursday) and a letter from my bank (which I should get in 5 business days). After obtaining these evidences, what should I do next?

Any help is very much appreciated. :-)
